Russian military and propaganda outlets claimed the "Vovchansk Cauldron" had closed after reports of the capture of several settlements. The 16th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces dismissed these claims as a Russian information campaign and stated that they had not lost any positions in their defensive sector. The corps' press service reported this on Facebook .

The Ukrainian Armed Forces attribute the reports of Ukrainian units allegedly being encircled to the domestic political situation in Russia. They believe the Russian side is attempting to create the illusion of a successful offensive for its own audience.

"On the eve of the State Duma elections, amid a worsening energy crisis and burning refineries and warehouses, Russian propaganda continues to frantically generate media victories. One telling example is the inflated information bubble dubbed the Vovchansk Cauldron,' which has been ongoing for the past three months. Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Northern Force Group announced the capture of the villages of Vasilyevka, Dovzhanka, Blagovatnoye, and Sliznevo, as well as the 'closure of the Vovchansk Cauldron,'" the 16th Army Corps press service said in a statement. Ukrainian military officials also noted the situation directly along the line of contact. According to them, over the past six months, Russian forces have failed to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions in the corps' area of responsibility.

"At the same time, over the past six months, no positions have been lost in the 16th Army Corps' defensive zone. Ukrainian Defense Forces are not only stopping enemy offensive attempts but have also restored positions in the area of the villages of Milovo and Odradnoye," the statement noted. The corps also reported on tactics currently being used by Russian units. These include attempts by small infantry groups to penetrate Ukrainian defensive lines. "Currently, the enemy is attempting to penetrate deep into the defensive lines of the 16th Army Corps units with small groups of infantry. These groups are identified promptly and subjected to fire. Those who are smarter make the right decision and surrender, while the rest are eliminated," the 16th Army Corps reported. Over the past week, according to Ukrainian data, Russian troops in this area have lost 154 servicemen killed and 124 wounded. One multiple launch rocket system, four cannons, 17 special vehicles, and 43 vehicles were also destroyed.

The 16th Army Corps called the reports of the " Vovchansk Cauldron" a continuation of the Russian information campaign and compared it to Moscow's previous statements about allegedly establishing control over Kupyansk and the "liberation" of Svyatogorsk.
