three wildfires are burning in our state's central Cascade Mountains and
continuing to grow the goat King and three Queens fires burning for weeks.
The command team, though, fighting the flames, says they're monitoring
different fire behavior for each of these fires. The goat fire, which is 0%
contained, burning more than 730 acres in the King Fire, also 0% contained,
has grown to 2500 acres and the three Queens fire is at 5% containment,
burning nearly 9000 acres. All right, 708 right now. And as Brian astutely
pointed out, we have turned the calendar to September and the weather
is changing pretty quickly. It is. We're still in fire season, though,
not just this month, but most of next month as well. Usually we wrap up fire
season by Halloween. It takes a few good soaking systems to really help us
out and really squash those wildfires, even as temperatures cool. This has
been a rough year in regards to our wildfire season. We have seen over 882,000
acres burned in Washington state. That is the most that we have seen since
2015 when we had 1.1 million. I hope we don't make it to that, but still have
lots of time left to go and still a lot of caution to use, especially east of
the Cascades and over the mountains themselves. Still very, very dry. 57 is
your temp right now from our queen and camera. Notice the cloud cover. It is
gonna be cloudier today. It's still gonna be mild and meteorological fall
begins today. That is the day. Today is the day that we start meteorological
fall because it helps us keep records a little bit easier because the equinox
can change when fall starts. Most people think fall starts is on the 22nd.
But again, that date can change year to year. So average high temp today is 75.
The average high temp at the end of the month of 67. We lose quite a bit of
daylight in the month of September. We're gonna get our 1st 6 o'clock hour
sunsets coming up by the end of the month fifties right now up and down the
I five corridor highs today. We'll top out in the low to mid seventies and
we're gonna be looking at mid seventies down in the south sound. North sound
locations will be in the mid seventies as well. Should overall be a really
nice day for us. Tomorrow is gonna be very different. We're gonna be seeing
showers developing. We're gonna be getting breezy wind involved as well.
It's gonna feel kind of storming tomorrow and then we'll see that back
a bit thursday and into friday, but we'll still have a few lingering
showers
