If you don't know what to do this weekend,
we have some really great ideas for you and your family.
Erica Bigelow with Seattle's Child Magazine here
with all the juicy details.
Erica, good to see you.
Good to see you. Good morning.
Okay, so we're starting with an event that's all about girl power
and really just like embracing your geekiness.
What's this one about?
Absolutely.
So Geek Girl Con 2026 is happening this weekend.
So this is dedicated to, of course,
celebrating the contributions and achievements of women
and other underrepresented groups in geek culture.
So from panels and workshops to gaming and cosplay, there's going
to be something for everyone to enjoy at this two-day event.
And this is happening at the Seattle Convention Center.
There are presentations on cosplay tips and tricks,
and you can do some crafting, some sports, some storytelling and games.
And the weekend's really going to be about finding your community,
celebrating your passions, and supporting all of your fellow geeks.
So you can get your tickets online.
They've got a sliding scale for one day, two day,
and whatever, and that's what's going on there.
I love that one. That sounds awesome.
Yes, definitely.
Okay, so we are a week away from Halloween.
What's going on in Bellevue today?
Halloween on the Hill is back.
So this is a fun and annual event at South Bellevue Community College.
They've got a series of Halloween-themed activities
for all ages happening today.
there is a great SBCC pumpkin race they've you they've even got
a carnival with games and
inflatable bouncers you can wander through
that they've got a magical magic show much more it's
a fall tradition for all ages you definitely don't want
to miss it they do ask that you pre-register
so they have enough supplies on hand
and that's happening today 10 to 3 at south bellevue community
college okay that sounds awesome
then in little saigon there is a new space to work on arts and
crafts, maybe make a friendship bracelet. Yes.
So Little Saigon Creative is a community gathering
space and cultural hub
in the Chinatown International District that celebrates and
elevates Vietnamese and Vietnamese American voices.
And then you can come and learn about
their great programs while getting hands on with a fun
and free Shrinky Dink activity. And oh my
gosh, I love Shrinky Dink so much. They are so fascinating.
And so you'll get to create Shrinky
ink keychains, bracelets or pendants
while meeting the staff visiting booths and learning how that
you can get involved there
and you want to register to reserve your spot in advance as
well it's happening from 10 to 1
and it is free okay back to the spooky vibes tell us about the
great Spooktacular this is right
this is happening at the Saibiu Community Center in
North Bend and it is the return of it
so it's been a very popular event they're going to have
a fun and spooky rated PG haunted house they've
got fun halloween themed games and activities
they've got pumpkin decorating a costume contest face painting
and more so pull on your one of your
many halloween costumes
and get over there this event is geared toward preschool and elementary
age kids and their families you can get tickets for this online adults
and kids under the age of
two are free but they do still need to register okay
that sounds awesome okay well tis the season
for a haunted house that's going on at PacSci this weekend.
Okay, this one sounds amazing. It's
part haunted house, part live theater, part escape room, and part math.
So called Fracture. It's math
theater's haunted house. It's happening at Pacific Science Center.
Families are going to have two
options. One of them is called Before Dark,
which is suitable for all ages. And math theater is
recommending that the participants have about
a third grade math level to get the most out of the
experience. And then the other one is called After Dark,
which turns up the scare factor with
flashing lights, jump scares, dark rooms, and loud noises.
It's aimed at, of course, the older kids
and others who are comfortable with a bit scarier of an experience.
And so through imaginary numbers,
transfinite ordinals, irrational numbers,
and the Pythagorean theorem, the scariest part actually
may be finding out how much you really like math.
So that's happening. I love that. That sounds
awesome great ideas absolutely these are all the
are Erica thank you yes have a great one you
too we're gonna have a link to all
of those up on our website fox13seattle.com
