Ukrainian soldiers captured an occupier, who turned out to be from Zaporizhzhia. He admitted that he had gone to fight for the Russians for money, but now realizes it was a mistake.
The 19th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces released a video of the traitor's confession . The traitor said that almost immediately after signing a contract with the Russians, he found himself fighting against Ukraine.
He said his main motivation for joining the Russian army was money. However, after he reached the front, he realized how wrong his decision had been. He urged those considering signing a contract with the Russian army not to repeat his mistake.
He noted that he was deceived, since at first they promised that he would be involved in the construction of dugouts, but then they gave him a machine gun and sent him to the front lines.
"Just as I was deceived, so many others can be deceived," said the traitor.
He added that he met a young occupier at the positions with a Russian tricolor, who was promised the title of Hero of Russia for his installation in Konstantinovka.
The traitor also said that the Russians select men between the ages of 19 and 60, and even bring in drug addicts and the disabled.
"They're probably short of people," the traitor suggested. Earlier, Verkhovna Rada Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets reported that citizens of 51 countries, recruited by Russia into its armed forces, had been captured by Ukrainian forces . All of them had taken part in the war against Ukraine. Among those captured were citizens of African countries. He recalled that 20,610 cases of deportation and forced displacement of Ukrainian children have already been confirmed. The Bring Kids Back UA initiative has successfully repatriated 2,425 children, 465 of whom were repatriated with the assistance of the Ombudsman's Office. According to him, thousands of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war are still in Russian captivity.
"We must do everything to bring them back, and every crime committed by Russia must be properly documented and not go unpunished," he added.
It's worth noting that in April 2026, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that Russia planned to recruit approximately 20,000 additional foreigners for the war against Ukraine this year. To this end, the Russians identified the number of foreigners aged 18 to 60 currently in Russia and developed a mobilization plan.
