Ukrainian strikes on targets deep within Russian territory are increasingly worrying the Kremlin. Against this backdrop, the Russian army may intensify attacks on Ukraine, attempting to offset its own problems on the front lines and exert pressure on Ukrainian society.

This was stated by former US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and now executive director of the Vandenberg Coalition, Kerry Filipetti, Fox News reports . According to her assessment, over the past year, Ukraine has significantly expanded its capabilities for strikes on Russian territory. Ukrainian attacks have begun to reach areas near Moscow and St. Petersburg, which, according to Filipetti, is causing serious concern for the Russian leadership.

The expert believes that Ukraine's military successes have become one of the factors forcing the Kremlin to react more aggressively. She notes that, faced with such results, the Russians have begun to intensify their attacks on Ukrainian territory.

Filipetti also drew attention to Vladimir Putin's reaction to the loss of control. According to her, the Russian president is particularly sensitive to situations in which the Kremlin faces challenges to its influence.

The expert believes that attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure could be used by Russia as a tool to pressure the population. Moscow is thus attempting to weaken the morale of Ukrainians and their willingness to continue their resistance.

Meanwhile, Ukraine continues to launch long-range attacks against Russian economic and logistical infrastructure. Recently reported targets included facilities associated with major companies Wildberries and Ozon.

Kyiv has repeatedly stated that such attacks are aimed primarily at disrupting Russian logistics and reducing Russia's ability to wage war.

Filipetti believes that Russia is attempting to simultaneously exhaust Ukraine in three key areas: human resources, equipment, and morale. Meanwhile, she estimates that the Russian army's territorial advances remain limited.

"Independence Day is a really important moment for Ukraine's allies to show that we're not losing momentum, that we're continuing to support their operations, that we're continuing to support their sovereignty," Filipetti said.

At the same time, she warned that mass public events in Ukraine, especially during demonstrations of patriotism and support for the state, could create additional security risks.

Furthermore, the expert stated that Russia is facing serious problems replenishing its army. According to her, Russian losses monthly exceed the country's capacity to recruit new troops, forcing Moscow to recruit fighters from other countries.
