Russian propagandists have shown a close-up view of one of the elements of the air defense system protecting Moscow from Ukrainian drones and missiles, Defense Express reports .

The video was posted on social media by user Massimo Frantarelli. Specifically, it shows the Pantsir-S1M anti-aircraft missile and gun system, mounted on a 35-meter-tall turret.

Analysts noted that the system is deployed without a chassis, and its crew, consisting of a gunner and commander, is also located on top of the turret in the familiar Pantsir control center. "Along with four 57E6 missiles and 30mm cannons, eight new short-range TKB-1055 anti-drone missiles have been added to the armament," the article states.

It is explained that one radar is used for detection, and the other for guidance. Guidance is also possible using a thermal imaging channel.

The publication added that the guns can operate in automatic and semi-automatic modes and fire high-explosive incendiary and tracer rounds.

Russian air defense forces reported that they consider cruise missiles, which fly low, at high speed, follow terrain, and emerge at short ranges, leaving only a short window of time for interception, to be the most dangerous target. Therefore, interception requires an "instantaneous" reaction from the crew. Meanwhile, the Russians cite HIMARS as the most challenging target. The publication suggests that this likely refers to the GMLRS rockets, which are often mentioned as such. Analysts suggest that crews of this particular system may have previously carried out missions near the front lines.

They add that the footage shows the armament of one of the towers that forms part of Moscow's multilayered air defense system. It is noted that the Russian capital is actively deploying Pantsir-family systems in specially prepared positions, towers, and even the rooftops of buildings.

The publication suggests that the Russians still do not have, or at least do not supply in large quantities, 30mm controlled-detonation ammunition, which could significantly increase the effectiveness of cannon weapons.

Media previously reported that, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the Russian command has deployed all air defense systems not currently deployed on the front lines to Moscow, completely exposing Russia's external borders. Zelenskyy stated that three air defense rings protecting energy facilities have been concentrated around the Russian capital, fearing retaliatory strikes from Ukraine. Zelenskyy noted that Russia is also attempting to protect port infrastructure, but that the Defense Forces are successfully penetrating this defense. The Ukrainian president emphasized that Ukraine's long-range strikes have inflicted "impressive losses on Russia – a trillion rubles." Zelenskyy said that strikes deep into Russia's rear affect the overall situation in terms of the Russian leadership's willingness to wage war. He noted that the Russian invaders are receiving a just response to missile and drone strikes on Ukraine. At the same time, Russia is experiencing a decline in revenue, which, accordingly, is leading to a reduction in domestic funding.
