In Russia's Leningrad region, hundreds of Chinese workers staged a riot and blocked police

A mass riot by Chinese workers broke out at the Baltic Gas Chemical Complex construction site in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region . Footage released by eyewitnesses shows a large number of people surrounding Russian police officers and blocking their vehicles, preventing them from detaining one of the workers. According to social media reports, the incident occurred on August 9 at a facility being built with the participation of China National Chemical Engineering. The conflict began after a Chinese worker , allegedly unpaid, got into an argument with management. Management called the police, but the arrest attempt quickly failed.
The footage shows police officers surrounded by a crowd of workers. The crowd blocks police vehicles and prevents the detainee from being removed. Eventually, under pressure from the crowd, the police are forced to retreat and release the worker. The episode went viral precisely because of the helpless appearance of the Russian security forces. Russian police typically deal harshly with individual pickets by Russians, anti-war activists, pensioners, or students. But when confronted by an organized group of hundreds of foreign workers, the security forces appeared confused and chose not to engage in direct confrontation. Chinese workers have essentially demonstrated that even in Russia, it's possible to protect your people if you act en masse and in solidarity . Against this backdrop, the behavior of millions of Russians who have remained silent for years in the face of arbitrary actions by the authorities, employers, and security forces stands in stark contrast.
State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the ruling United Russia party, publicly stated that China has no interest in Russia's victory in the war against Ukraine.
A regime spokesman complained that China is unwilling to provide Russia with direct military assistance in the war. Instead, Beijing is profiting from Russia's dire situation by purchasing resources from it at huge discounts. "And what is China's position? If you're laying claim to something, you have to be consistent. I can't accuse Europe of inconsistency. They're at odds with Russia, and they're doing everything they can to harm it. They're chipping in, whatever they have, to help Ukraine. Tell me, is there any evidence of China sacrificing anything? Has it provided any direct assistance to Russia? It trades with us, and that's where its support lies. It supplies drones to both us and Ukraine. Can you compare the behavior of Europe and China in this situation? Of course, Europe is more involved than China. Yes, I'm absolutely certain that China has no interest in Russia's defeat. And judging by its behavior, it's not so sure of victory either. It's currently the beneficiary, by and large, of the continuation of the war. It gets a discount on our oil and gas and our interest in developing our relations," Zatulin stated.
