The UK and Germany have launched a secret program to develop a high-precision long-range weapon called Deep Precision Strike, which could potentially hit targets at distances of up to 2,000 kilometers. This was reported by Welt , citing British and German officials. The publication clarifies that the development is primarily aimed at countering Russia in the event that Moscow launches military aggression against NATO. The project has become one of the most important areas of new military cooperation between London and Berlin. The system's development is scheduled for completion by 2034. The program was presented at the NATO summit in Ankara in July. Its cost is estimated at approximately €35 billion, and 12 Alliance countries are participating. Currently, two main weapon options are being considered. The first is a low-flying cruise missile capable of evading modern air defense systems. The second is a hypersonic missile, capable of traveling more than five times the speed of sound.

İn this case Bloomberg reports that the UK has signed contracts with several companies to develop the first British ballistic missile in more than half a century. The goal of the program is to support Ukraine and reduce Europe's dependence on American weapons. The project is called Nightfall . According to Bloomberg, the UK Ministry of Defence has already adjusted the technical requirements to expedite development and deliver the missiles to Ukraine in 2027. Test launches are scheduled to begin within 12 months, with the first deliveries expected in late 2027. Ballistic missile development and deployment typically takes more than 10 years, so the British program appears to be an attempt to dramatically compress the timeline to meet the demands of war. Initially, Nightfall was intended to have a range of over 600 km , a 300 kg warhead , and a cost of less than £500,000 per missile, excluding warhead, launcher, and development. After consultations with industry, the parameters were revised to a range of over 500 km, a 200 kg warhead, and a maximum cost of £800,000 per missile. The British government previously announced that Nightfall is intended to be a low-cost, long-range strike system for Ukraine with minimal export restrictions. The system is designed to be launched from a variety of transport platforms, quickly conduct multiple launches, and operate in environments with strong electromagnetic interference. Military observers note that this could be a significant boost for Ukraine. This isn't just a single, expensive missile, but an attempt to create a relatively mass-produced European long-range weapon. If the program is implemented, Kyiv will gain an additional tool for striking Russian military logistics, warehouses, airfields, and command facilities deep in the occupied territories and the Russian rear. For Moscow, this is an unpleasant strategic signal. Europe is beginning not only to transfer its existing reserves to Ukraine, but also to build new production lines for the Ukrainian war, which means that Kyiv's long-range capabilities can grow not just sporadically, but industrially.
