In Russia, amid gasoline and diesel fuel shortages, sorcerers and magicians have become increasingly active, offering to "enchant" cars to reduce fuel consumption at "affordable" prices, according to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine. Specifically, sorcerers and magicians charge around 1,500 rubles for "wax casting" to remove negative energy from a car, 7,000 rubles for installing a runic stave, a magical graphic symbol consisting of several Scandinavian runes, and 9,000 rubles for "searching for magical needles" inside a car. Russian motorists are also offered various esoteric remedies. For 15,000 rubles, they can buy a "Bear's Paw" amulet. For 16,000 rubles, drivers can receive a full-fledged magical ritual with salt and a gold ornament, which supposedly will reduce fuel consumption and even "attract" gasoline or diesel fuel, depending on the engine type, into the fuel tank. Sorcerers demand that their clients keep their car rituals secret. Otherwise, the rituals "will be of no use." As a reminder, according to CNN, nearly all 83 internationally recognized regions of Russia are currently experiencing gasoline and diesel fuel shortages due to Ukrainian Defense Forces' airstrikes against Russian oil refineries. As a result, local authorities are imposing limits on gasoline and diesel sales, and many gas stations are completely out of fuel.
Due to fuel shortages, some regions, including the Trans-Baikal Territory, have declared a "high alert." The next threat level is a "state of emergency." Dictator Vladimir Putin was forced to acknowledge fuel shortages, stating that Russia "is experiencing a certain shortage of gasoline and diesel fuel, but it is not critical." At the same time, the Kremlin leader ordered increased production of air defense systems, thereby acknowledging that Ukrainian air strikes pose a serious threat to Russian military and strategic facilities, including oil refineries. Fuel shortages in Russia due to Ukrainian airstrikes on oil refineries also occurred in 2025. However, experts believe the situation will be significantly worse in 2026.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Defense Forces disabled the main oil refining units of Gazprom's largest oil refinery. Russia's largest petrochemical complex, Salavat, has ceased operations following a Ukrainian drone strike. Critical equipment was damaged. Both primary oil refining units, AVT-4 and AVT-6, were disabled. The refinery's secondary equipment was also damaged. The damage was critical, necessitating an emergency shutdown of the refinery. The local governor confirmed Salavat's defeat, stating that the plant would resume operations within days. However, according to sources, repairs to the plant could take anywhere from several weeks to several months. AVT-6 processed more than 17 thousand tons of oil per day, AVT-4 over 11 thousand tons. Salavat is a fully-fledged industrial cluster, including an oil refinery, a gas chemical plant, and a chemical plant. It is part of Gazprom and produces gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, and other petroleum products, as well as liquefied gases, butyl alcohols, polyethylene, polystyrene, and ammonia. According to industry sources, the plant processed 7.2 million tons of oil in 2024, which is approximately 2.7% of the total oil refining volume in the Russian Federation.
