Ukraine's military continued their attacks on Russian oil infrastructure overnight on July 9, targeting oil depots in multiple regions, Russian Telegram media channels reported.
Photos and videos posted to social media purport to flames and black smoke rising from a Lukoil-owned depot near the town of Mikhaylovsk in Stavropol Krai. Drones were also reportedly seen flying towards the target.
Regional Governor Vladmir Vladimirov confirmed the strike on an unspecified "industrial facility" in a post on Telegram amid an wider air raid alert.
Minutes later, independent Telegram media channels, citing resident accounts, reported that another fire had broken out at an oil depot in the city of Tver, located approximately 300 kilometers northwest of Moscow, as a result of a Ukrainian strike.
According to OSINT analysis of eyewitness video, a LUKOIL-Yugnefteprodukt oil depot was hit by drones in the city of Mikhailovsk in the Shpakovsky District of Stavropol Krai.
This company is engaged in the storage, transshipment and sale of petroleum products through oil depots and a network of Lukoil gas stations in the south and central Russia. Stavropol Krai Governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed the attack, but described the impact site as an "industrial facility" in the neighboring village of Vyazniki in the Shpakovsky District. Ukrainian drones attacked the Tvers Oil Depot. The attack on the facility has already been confirmed by Tver Region Governor Vitaly Korolev. According to him, the strike caused one of the facility's storage tanks to catch fire. Local authorities have deployed a task force "to address the consequences of the incident and ensure the facility's continued security." The fire has already been contained.
The full name of the oil depot, a subsidiary of PJSC Surgutneftegaz, is OOO SO Tvernefteprodukt. The facility supplies gasoline and diesel fuel to wholesale networks and 52 gas stations. Video footage from local residents shows that several drones were used during the attack.According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 73 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones have been shot down and intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Novgorod, Tver, Oryol, Leningrad, Rostov regions, Moscow, Krasnodar Krai, occupied Crimea, and the waters of the Sea of Azov since yesterday evening and throughout the past night.
