The Russian invaders were forced to withdraw a significant amount of equipment from the front line after Ukraine's Operation Auchan. It took the enemy months to restore its capabilities, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov reported on Telegram .
"Our task is to act asymmetrically against the enemy. Operation Auchan is one example of how technology, intelligence, and quality planning can systematically weaken the enemy's offensive potential," Fedorov noted.
According to the minister, the first stage of the special operation was carried out last year. Specially designed drones were acquired, the necessary intelligence was collected, and a large-scale strike against enemy equipment deep in the rear was prepared. Over the course of three days, the Defense Forces struck 949 enemy targets. Fedorov emphasized that after the operation, the enemy withdrew a significant portion of its equipment from the front line, and it took months to replace the losses. "We repeated this operation a few weeks ago. This time, the main target was enemy artillery. It remains one of the main challenges on the battlefield. Therefore, we began looking for a new solution," Fedorov said.
The minister added that a new artillery-targeting munition was developed for the second phase of the operation. As a result, 231 targets were hit, 171 of which were destroyed.
"In just two stages of Operation Auchan, the Defense Forces struck 1,180 enemy targets," Fedorov emphasized.
He added that each such operation means more than just destroyed equipment: "It means disrupted enemy plans, fewer opportunities for their offensive, and a greater chance of saving the lives of our soldiers." Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially approved a 40-day strategic influence operation by the Security Service of Ukraine designed to pressure Russia into concluding its war. The announcement coincided with overnight and early morning drone strikes on June 25 that targeted the Poltavskaya oil depot in Krasnodar Krai, as well as two oil refineries in Ufa, located within the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan.
The precise tactics and specific targets of the newly approved campaign remain classified. However, the plan directly leverages recent military achievements by specialized units.
Ukrainian drone operations have increasingly focused on degrading Russian logistical and economic infrastructure to alter the course of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
"The SBU has been demonstrating the highest indicators of protecting Ukraine's positions at the front for several months in a row thanks to the use of drones of various types. The Special Operations Center 'Alpha' is the leader in terms of the results of destruction of personnel and equipment of the occupier's forces," Zelenskyy stated. The long-range strikes carried out by the SBU SOC "Alpha" underscore the expanding reach of Ukrainian domestic intelligence.
By targeting critical energy infrastructure deep within Russian territory, the operation seeks to systematically diminish the economic resources available to the Kremlin for sustaining its military campaigns.
