in a shooting that happened Thursday evening.
Thank you so much for joining us for Fox 5 News at Noon.
I'm Alex Whitler. Now we're learning more
about what led to the gunfire and the suspect.
Fox 5's Tara Jabbour joins us live from Woodstock
with the very latest information. Good afternoon, Tara.
Good afternoon, Alex. That's right. We're
told that this all started with a suspicious call
at around 6.45 last night. Now Woodstock
police say that suspect was in a retention pond near
that trail that's in downtown Woodstock near
Payton and Maple Street.
Woodstock police say the officers fired shots during this incident
and they say that the suspect told police that he had a weapon.
The suspect was injured and taken
to the hospital but they're expected to be okay.
Two officers were also injured taken to the
hospital but will be okay.
Now we spoke to neighbors in the area who told us that it's a
quiet neighborhood and they were surprised to see
so much police activity last night.
Here's what we know right now about the suspect.
I can tell you that the suspect has been charged
with felony terroristic threats and felony obstruction
and the suspect also has active
warrants in Gwinnett County for felony terroristic threats as well.
Now the GBI is leading this
investigation. We'll of course keep you updated as we learn more
but for now reporting live from
Woodstock Police. Tara Jabbour, Fox 5 News.
Tara, we appreciate that. Thank you.
