The Modern Big Block: Supercharged Godzilla on Airbags

Spencer walks through one of the wildest chassis FFG has ever built — a supercharged 7.3L Godzilla sitting on our FF Air Chassis for a 1964 Ford F100. This thing lays frame and makes an easy 900 horsepower. Filmed at the Grand National F100 show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

The customer, Mike, came to us wanting his first resto-mod. We tried to push him toward a Coyote — it's our go-to for two-wheel drive builds because of the top-end power and high RPM character. Mike wasn't having it. He didn't like the Coyote sound and wanted something with the rumble and presence of a big block. So we built him a supercharged Godzilla on airbags — the modern big block, sitting on the ground.

This is the first supercharged Godzilla we've done in a customer chassis. The Whipple 3.0L Gen 6 supercharger paired with the 7.3L Godzilla is still a new platform, and we had to develop a front runner kit to make it all work. Indy Power Products came through with the valve covers on short notice and they completely transform the look of the motor — dresses it up like a true big block.

The chassis is our FF Air Chassis, designed to lay frame on airbags while supporting the kind of power Mike is putting down. Stainless exhaust system built in-house by Ashlyn and Bryton in our exhaust department — FFG 3-inch Godzilla headers, X-pipe, resonators, MagnaFlow mufflers, and ram-horn style tips that exit the sides. Watts link in the rear, Little Shop 16-inch brake kits with Wilwood components, and a one-piece driveshaft thanks to the short bed conversion.

Mike is picking this up directly from the Grand National show and shipping it back to Indiana, where he'll handle the bodywork and paint himself. Dark blue over white two-tone is the plan. We'll feature the finished truck on the channel down the road.
