Building a rare 1966 F100 custom cab with a 2-year timeline — something we've never pulled off on a designer series build before. Spencer walks through the full plan: House of Kolor candy brandywine paint, 800 horsepower supercharged Coyote, and the FF Street Chassis built in-house by FF Chassis, our own chassis manufacturing company.

This customer came in with a clear vision. He'd seen our Merlot build and wanted his own take on that candy color, but pushed us on timeline in a way most designer series customers don't. He's getting up there in years and wants to actually drive the thing, not wait three years to see it finished. Challenge accepted.

A few things that make this 66 worth paying attention to. The custom cab trim was Ford's early attempt at making a truck that could double as a daily driver — horizontal gauge cluster, optional power steering, upgraded upholstery, headliner, the works. Originally came to us as a long bed, so we sourced a short bed donor and fused the two together to keep it period-correct. The candy brandywine is a first for our shop. We've done three-stage paint plenty of times, but never true candy.

Under the cab is the FF Street Chassis, designed and manufactured in-house by FF Chassis. Fully boxed, independent front suspension, 14 inch Wilwood discs, custom FFG spindles, hydraulic steering. No C-notch on this one because the customer wanted to keep it closer to stock ride height to honor the original nature of the truck. Drivetrain is a Gen 4 Aluminator Coyote with a 3.0L Whipple supercharger, 10-speed automatic, 4 inch aluminum driveshaft, and our plug-and-play wiring harness built for 67-72 trucks (more year ranges coming).

Interior will play off the Merlot build with custom bucket seats, a center console that plays on the body lines of the front fenders, and a Pros Pick tonneau cover with actuators and weather sealing so the customer can actually road trip the truck without worrying about luggage.

FF Chassis is our in-house chassis manufacturing operation — every chassis we build is engineered and manufactured by our team right here in Gilbert, Arizona. See the full lineup: https://fatfender.com/pages/ffgchassis

Looking for a complete build on a tighter timeline? Our Revival Series program handles new chassis, modern drivetrain, and interior upgrades in a 9-12 month window: https://fatfender.com/pages/revival
