Currently the dogs are on a rotation of Dr. Tim's RPM and Wellness Core Raw Rev. Senior Cable Guy, just got an eight, thank you for the super chat by the way, says, just got an eight week old husky pup. How would be the best way to start an obedience course? If you have somebody near your area that teaches obedience classes, my advice would definitely be to go and take those classes. Obedience classes for dogs, especially puppies are really good to do because not only do you learn a lot, but it helps you to bond with your dog and it helps your dog at a very young age to socialize with other dogs, which is always, always, always a good thing. Shelby needs her dip. Hi Miss Shelby, how that's super up close, huh? Super up close Shelby. Angela Moore says, we recently lost our husky and our beagle seems depressed. Have you ever had to help a dog through grief? You know, our dogs, I don't know that I can actually say they acted a whole lot different when we lost Shiloh. I mean they kind of did, but not really. I think the biggest thing you can do is dogs really feed off of a lot of your feelings. So if you can try to keep busy and keep doing things, I think that helps them a lot. I really do. Uh, somebody asked about the dogs wearing clothes. Our dogs don't normally wear clothes. Like they'll wear um like costumes for Halloween and stuff and that's about it. Shelby does have these bells on. Uh, I will go ahead and show you guys. If you're squeamish, look away. She has an incision right there on her neck where she had one of her lumps removed. She also has one on her side. Okay, you can look back now. So the reason that she has this bell collar on right now is because if she tries to scratch at that, she could rip it open pretty easily. It would only take her a few seconds. But she can't wear a cone because it's right on her neck. So we put the bell collar on her. So anytime she tries to do it, Jamie and I can hear. She's actually been really, really, really good about it. And I think she understands that she's not supposed to be scratching at it, so that's a good thing. But we still leave the bells on her. So she's got to wear bells for the next, what, eight days? So she's got the incision there and then she has another one that's like right under there, but you can't see that one. Juliana, how many times do you bathe them? Our dogs actually only get a bath maybe once a year. They don't actually get bathed very often at all. Um Mini Mixers, could Shelby have neurofibromatosis? A genetic disorder which causes tumors to grow. I have this. I don't know if dogs can get it. I don't know. Most of the tumors that Shelby has had so far have just been fatty tumors, except for the one that was on the base of her tail was a malignant pylomatrixoma. But I don't know. Maybe I'll ask my vet about it. Soulmate Sibes, thank you for the super chat, said what is your best recommendation? Do you have for dealing with a husky with hip problems? My seven-year-old rescue dozer has severe hip issues and we aren't expecting him to be around much longer. Miss Oakley has a lot of hip problems. She actually has arthritis in her back. I guess I shouldn't say hip. She has arthritis in her legs and she has arthritis in her back. Come here Memphis. You want to hang out over there? Okay. Um, and basically we just try to make things easier for her. And what I mean by making things easier for her is, you know, we make sure that we have ramps and stuff to make it easier for her to get up and down steps. We give her the Renew Actives treats that have like glucosamine and such in them. So those are some different things that we use to kind of help keep her joints lubricated. They actually do say that keeping them going, keeping them moving is a good thing. So we try to do that as well. Um, you can see if there's a chiropractor in your area and see if maybe you can have chiropractic work done on your dog. Oakley has had that done in the past and it has helped her a lot. I think we're pretty much stuck on this breed. We really like the breed and we really like how active they are, even if they do go crazy at the beginning of a live stream and try to make things a little bit difficult. Actually, I just recently started using a hands-free leash, but for the one I have, I actually use a skijoring belt and then I put their leashes on that because there's a lot of them out there that I just don't think are strong enough to hold the dogs. I used to use OBS, open broadcast software, to live stream and I just, I don't know, I felt like it, I didn't like it because I felt like the camera was just stuck in one position and like when you're live streaming and you're talking to an audience and you're answering questions and stuff when it's just you, that's okay. But when you're trying to live stream and you have three dogs that are moving around walking around and trying to do different things, I just feel like being able to do this from my phone is a lot better. I feel like it's a better experience for you guys. I feel like I can have a little bit more fun with it. I mean, I don't know, a lot of you guys have watched a lot of our live shows. Tell me if you feel the same way because that's kind of how I feel. I feel like doing it like this because like Shelby's not looking at me so I can take the camera and I can turn the camera and I can be like, okay, look, well, here's Memphis. She's over here being super cute right now. Let's look at her. And we can be up close, you know, like I felt like when I was doing it the other way we couldn't really be up close. I really do like using OBS for doing live streams, but I feel like it just doesn't work as well when live streaming with pets, you know, they say never work with kids or pets. So now we have a horrible sheet of ice everywhere. So until we get at least another four to six inches of snow, we probably won't be able to take the dogs sledding. But maybe soon. Maybe. Um, she's just not as strong as she used to be. But we might take her the next time we go and let her run with the sled. We'll see. It's actually not as bad as you think. A lot of people get really, really scared and worry a lot when their dogs get spayed or neutered. Usually everything goes okay. It's a very common procedure. Uh, basically you just want to keep try to keep them calm afterwards so they don't pop any stitches. And actually sometimes they don't even use stitches. Sometimes they just use glue. Why does Oakley never howl? She never really has. Like Oakley's barked and sometimes she'll bark to get the other dogs howling, but Oakley's never really been big, um, howling herself. She does have stitches in the back of her neck and on her side, but she's doing really well. We don't have any results back. Somebody said it's not a good idea to mix raw and dry kibble. Um, yeah, no, my dogs are fine on it. I know there's a lot of like, there's a lot of people that are like, only feed raw, only feed this. My dogs do really well on both. They actually are fed a mixture of kibble and uh, they have full raw and then they have dehydrated raw and they do fine on it. So my dogs don't really have any issues digesting anything. I know some people have dogs that like have all kinds of issues with that stuff. Not mine. My girls are pretty good at all that stuff. They're like, we're good poopers. Trust me. Spring Draco, thank you for the super chat. Love the huskies. Have you ever considered doing a Truman Show like marathon of the snow dogs or an eight hour video of Oakley sleeping? A lot of you guys have asked us that over the years and I have thought about it. I don't know if she knows how adorable she is, but we try to tell her so that she does know. We tell her all the time that she's super cute. Um, learning how to like turn correctly and learn crossover moves, like teaching your dogs to actually do things isn't that hard to do. But learning how to do it correctly, like how to do a front cross, how to do a rear cross, how to do a blind cross, those are the types of things that you'll really learn at agility class, plus teaching your dog to be patient because everybody has to take turns. So we're kind of trying to figure out a new way where we can still incorporate a video like that, maybe once a month instead of once a week. I actually thought about selling it and picking up the 6 because the image stabilization on it is better and the low light on it is better, but I do have a GoPro. I don't use it as much as I should. I really should use it more, especially with the dogs. I do love it. I just, every time I go to use it, I feel like the battery's dead. Grace says, is Shelby getting better? The bell collar thing was really clever. When my dog had stitches, she was really annoyed. So in the future... Yeah, so the bell collar thing, like I will fully admit our dogs have had stitches and surgery and been through things many times before and I never really thought to do it. The thing that made me think about putting it on her was the fact that I can't put a cone on her because of where her incision is. She can't wear a cone. It'll irritate her stitches. And I remembered we had the bell collars and I'm like, well if we put that on her and we just listen, we should be able to stop her from scratching. So like we hear her get up, you can hear the bells move when she gets up and we just immediately look at her and go, don't you kick yourself. She's actually been doing really good though. The first day was the worst. The first day you could tell it itched and it really bothered her. But uh, she's definitely doing a lot better with it. Will you get another dog soon? I don't know, is 2018 gonna be the year to add a dog to the Gone to the Snow Dogs pack? What do you guys think? Should we get a dog? Should we get a, should we get another dog? Or a puppy? Yeah. Huskies like to be with their people and they like to be with other huskies. They are very pack orientated breed. They don't like to be by themselves. They like to be with other huskies and they like to be with their people. They don't like to be alone, which in tune means they are pack animals. They want to be with their pack. So you can say that they don't but I live with three of them. Trust me. They really are. Oh Most dogs are like that though dogs most dogs really don't want to be alone There's certain breeds of dogs that are really okay by themselves and really don't care But most dogs want to be with their people or they want to have other dogs around they have They they don't want to be alone because it's not they're not supposed to be they're they're not supposed to be alone What do you think Shelby?
