5 Steps To Help You Heal After Losing A Dog 🌈

Losing a dog is really hard, and dealing with the grief of that loss can be overwhelming. Today we are talking about losing a pet, and ways to help you cope.
What are your best tips for dealing with the loss of a pet? Let me know down in the comments below so we can all help each other out!
It is absolutely beautiful outside here in Northern Michigan, and it almost feels like fall! Taking a moment to sit outside with Kira and Eleanor, watching them grassnap and try to bury acorns, is exactly what my heart needed today. I know many of you have been asking about our camping plans and wondering how we are doing since Memphis passed away on June 6th. Life has been a lot lately, and we are still processing losing our sweet senior girl. So today, I wanted to pull out the camera and have an open, honest conversation about grief.
The truth is, grief is tough, and there is no linear timeline to healing. Even though we are hurting, I know so many of you are grieving Memphis right alongside us. You knew her, you loved her, and your feelings are completely valid! Dolly Parton and Jim Carrey are people I've never met, but I'd cry if I lost them, too. It is the exact same thing. We are all going through this together.
While the dogs were busy being absolutely chaotic and trying to eat sticks and acorns, I felt inspired to share a few things that have been helping us. If you are struggling with the loss of a pet, I hope these reminders bring you a little bit of comfort. It is going to take time, but taking it day by day is all we can do. Life is short, make memories with your dogs!
🌈 5 Tips For Dealing With The Grief Of Losing A Pet
1. Know that your grief is absolutely valid and the love you shared with your pet was real
2. Understand that grief has no timeline and it is okay to still feel sad years down the road
3. Change up your routine and explore new walking paths to create different memories
4. Use a journal or start recording videos to express your feelings and share your thoughts
5. Add a new pet to your family only when you feel truly ready and ignore the judgment of others
Bonus Tip: Surround yourself with a supportive community of like-minded people
