Are we gonna make a birthday cake for your birthday Shelby?
Shelby's birthday is tomorrow. You guys won't actually see this video until the Monday after her birthday.
But we are going to show you how to make a doggie birthday cake. Sound good to you? Sounds good to me.
Let's get to cooking!
First thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 350. Alright, we're gonna make a birthday cake for Shelby.
First thing we need is a quarter of a cup of cooking oil.
Then we need one egg.
Drop that right in there. A quarter of a cup of peanut butter. You girls know what this is, don't you?
Let's take some peanut butter.
What you think? Want some?
Want some?
Want some too? Good stuff?
Good stuff!
Right, and you need
one teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Can't eat the lid for that Memphis. It's not eatable and then this is optional.
You don't have to put this in but it's a third of a cup of honey.
And I know our girls like honey.
And it's good for them.
Like that.
I like that.
Everybody got to lick.
Next thing we're gonna do, blend it all together. You better keep your tongue out of there.
Now it's time to add the dry ingredients.
After we get everything all blended, we add one cup of carrots.
Oh, get off the table. Get down. Get down.
You just kind of want to stir those in a little.
I forgot to grab a spoon so I'm using my butter knife that I used to get the other stuff out.
Does that smell good? I know you like carrots, don't you?
Make sure they're shredded carrots.
After that you want to fold in one cup of
whole wheat or white flour and a teaspoon of baking soda, which I actually already put on the top of here.
So you kind of want to put a little bit in there.
Not all of it and then fold it in.
So you just want to kind of fold about half of it in first.
And you can do this with your hands or with a spoon. Works either way really.
And as that gets mixed in,
you can mix some more in.
Does it smell good? You're all looking like, hey, this smells good.
Batter should look about like that when you're done. Now you need a round cake pan.
Some people have used an 8x8 cake pan. Some people use a round cake pan. I had a round cake pan.
So I'm gonna use that.
And you want to spray it or wipe it with some nonstick stuff. I use Baker's Joy just because it's easy.
I bet I got some of that on that table.
And then basically, you just want to spoon the dough in.
Flatten it out a little. That's about what it's gonna look like. Now we're gonna pop it in the oven at 350 for about 40 minutes.
Licks some batter.
Whoa! Want to lick some batter? Memphis is gonna get it all.
Come over here. Oakley, want some?
I got more left here.
Want some?
You can't eat the spoon. Want some?
Whoa!
Peanut butter. You like that? That's the best! That's the best! Your eyes are gigantic!
This is for the birthday girl. Hey birthday girl! Shelby!
No.
No, it's for Shelby. Here.
You can't take the spoon!
After you take the cake out of the oven, you want to let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before you actually put
it on a cooling rack.
I left it a little bit longer than I was supposed to and I got a little bit of browning on the edges.
But other than that, it looks about perfect. Even though the birthday girl isn't in here. Oh, there she is. Now we gotta let it cool.
All right. Now we're gonna make some frosting for Shelby's cake.
We can get this open. All you need is some cream cheese at about room temperature.
Hey, eat that!
That's about room temperature.
Put that in a bowl.
Then you want to add just a little bit of honey.
Really no measurements on this.
Add a little bit of honey.
A little dash of vanilla extract.
Just a dash.
About that much. And then, a sprinkle of cinnamon. Want some cinnamon? You can't really lick that off of there.
There you go. How's that?
Take your beaters and whip it until it's fluffy. Kind of like the dogs. Fluffy!
It's probably about as fluffy as it's gonna get. So it'll look kind of like that.
Can't like eat the beaters. See the beater? You can't eat the beater either. There you go.
It works pretty good. You can all get a tongue in.
You want to make sure that your cake is completely cool before you do this. Otherwise your frosting is gonna melt.
Get off! Get off the table!
It's gonna be kind of difficult, cause you're gonna want to lick the frosting. Nope! It's Shelby's cake.
If anybody's licking the frosting, it's Shelby.
Just like any other cake, just kind of smear it on there.
Memphis! Come on! Up here Memphis! Memphis! Up here!
Watch your face! Good girl! That's very gentle!
That was very gentle. One more for Shelby, cause it's her birthday.
All right, maybe one more for everybody. One more for you. Very gentle.
One more for you. There you go. Good job!
And there's the finished product. Happy birthday Shelby!
She's licking frosting off your face.
Memphis, come here!
There you go Memphis! There you go Oakley! There you go Shelby!
Go to the Snow Dogs. Go to the Snow Dogs. Go to the Snow Dogs.
