Looks like, we got all three girls standing here in the kitchen.
What are you doing? Why are you standing here?
What's over here?
Are we making treats?
Yes! Yes! I think we are!
It's fall! It's no longer ridiculously hot outside, so we can finally turn the oven on.
So, we are gonna make some pumpkin and peanut butter treats.
Ready?
I think, this is only Oakley's second time. She's got to see us make treats.
What are you guys doing? Trying to be twins?
Alright! Let's make some treats! OK? OK!
First thing we need to do, preheat the oven to 350F.
There we go! 350F.
I'm just preheating the oven.
That's all I'm doing, is preheating the oven. That's it!
I don't have any cookies yet.
First, we need two and a half cups of whole wheat flour.
Next, we need two eggs.
Oven is preheated.
Then, we need a quarter cup of peanut butter.
What do you think of this?
I think, somebody's hiding under the table.
What are you doing under the table Shelby?
Gotta help make treats!
Want some Shelby?
Shelby, you want some?
Shiloh, you want some?
Want some? Come here!
That's for Shiloh!
No? You don't want some?
OK fine!
Good job sharing!
Alright!
Now, we need one and a quarter cup of canned pumpkin.
Make sure you use canned pumpkin, not pie pumpkin.
That's pretty empty, but you want to lick it anyway?
Want some too?
And...
Last ingredient, two teaspoons of cinnamon.
Now, we're going to mix it together.
That should be your job, huh?
Are you going to help?
Good job!
Are you going to help?
As you're mixing it together, you kind of want it to look like dough.
As you can tell, this is still a little bit too thick.
You can always add a little bit of water at a time.
To kind of help.
What?
Are you going up there?
Want to help?
I know what happens if you get up here.
You'll just eat it.
You know it's mixed when it kind of looks like this.
Sometimes mixing it with your hands definitely helps.
What you think Oakley?
What you think?
What?
Speak!
You can't eat it!
You can't eat it yet!
We have to roll it out and cook it.
You can't eat it raw!
No! You can't eat it raw!
You guys are good helpers!
Now, we're going to roll out some of that dough.
It's just flour.
It's not that good.
Want some flour?
Really, it's not that good.
We're going to attempt to roll out some of this dough.
Don't do like I did.
Make sure you put enough flour down.
When you put the flour down.
Otherwise, they stick to the table.
We got one pan ready to go in the oven.
What you think of that?
If you want them to be a little bit softer,
you can bake them for only about ten minutes.
If you want them to be more crunchy,
which is what these girls seem to like,
you should probably bake them for around twenty minutes.
Let's put them in the oven.
Now, you got to wait.
Round two! Now, we're going to make bigger ones.
Right? We'll make bigger ones.
When you guys bake these...
Look! Shiloh is coming to join us.
If you bake them for only ten minutes
and you have them be softer treats,
they definitely don't last as long,
than if you bake them for longer and have them be hard.
The best place to store these is in the refrigerator.
Because they are a fresh food.
They don't have any preservatives in them.
It's not like regular dog treats
that last forever and ever and ever.
You definitely need to be careful with these.
If you bake them for longer,
probably in the fridge,
will get about three to four weeks out of them.
Or you can freeze them and they'll last
for six months in the freezer.
The thing is the moisture.
It's how much moisture you leave in them.
So, how soft they are.
You think you're going to jump up there?
Alright! Watch your fingers!
Can you sit?
Sit!
Good job Oakley!
Good job!
The drier they are, the longer they'll last.
Round two! Getting ready to go in the oven!
What you think?
Round one is in the oven.
They've been in there about fifteen minutes
and they're looking like they're almost ready to come out.
Oh! Now you're going to come check it out, huh?
You heard the oven open?
They're still not done yet.
Not yet! Soon! Not yet!
This is probably the funniest part
about making cookies.
All three girls tend to come in here
and just lay in front of the oven.
Just going to lay in here and wait for cookies?
Are you going to cry for cookies?
Crying is not going to make them come any faster.
What?
Want your cookies?
First batch out of the oven!
They're still too hot to eat though.
As you can tell, the ones we made
that were really thin...
Don't you dare touch your nose to that!
Are more crunchy than the ones
we made that were a little bit thicker.
You can kind of see the thickness on these.
Don't! You're going to burn yourself!
These ones are nice and thin thin.
The thinner you do them, the crunchier they get.
You still have to wait! They're too hot!
Don't do it! You'll hurt yourself!
You'll hurt yourself!
Alright! The little ones are cooled.
I guess we can try them.
Can you sit?
Oh! You all can sit?
Wow! Can you get off the stove?
Ready? Nice!
Good girl!
Nice!
Good girl!
Can you catch? Good job!
What you think?
Are they good?
You want more?
As you can tell, these ones aren't completely dry dry yet.
Some of those were a little bit thicker.
I think they like them!
What you think?
Should I decorate them?
Maybe just a few?
Maybe we'll decorate just a few for fun.
Alright! Now we're going to show you
what we use to decorate the cookies.
If you can find yogurt chips in your area,
they work the best.
If you can't, these candy melts
are white chocolate candy melts.
I know! Really?
They're actually... You can use them.
Don't use a lot.
What you doing girl?
Don't use a lot. They do have sugar in them.
They do have milk in them.
You can read the ingredients if you buy them.
You can get them at candy stores
or Walmart or Kmart or whatever.
Just don't use a ton of it
because it's got sugar in it.
As long as your dogs...
If your dogs had it before and don't have a reaction to it,
it's okay to use for a little bit of decoration.
You don't have to decorate your cookies.
We're only going to decorate a few
because I have orange and green
candy melts.
I want to decorate a couple of cookies.
Just a few. Maybe like three.
Let's do that real quick.
Alright! As you can see,
what I did is I put some of those candies
into one of these little squirty
thingies. Not squirty thingies.
I microwaved them for about
fifteen seconds at a time
until it's slightly runny.
Look!
Apparently it worked.
There we go!
Then,
if we do this correctly,
we can draw on our goodies!
I know what you want.
You want this part.
Just give me some of the candy.
Give me some of that part.
Want some of that part?
I feel like I'm feeding you out of a bottle.
It's not really a bottle.
The other thing you can do,
if you have extra icing,
you can just drizzle it over top of them.
This is the best way to do it,
because it takes the least amount of time,
yet it gives your cookies a little bit of color
and it doesn't put too much sugar on them.
You shouldn't do this.
I'm not actually squeezing it,
if you can't tell.
She thinks I'm gonna. Don't you?
I feel like I'm feeding a cow.
Aww! Are you a baby cow?
You want some?
Three baby cows! You're not cows.
You may eat grass sometimes, but you're not cows.
Let's get a different color.
Next color!
Let's see if we can get this one to come out.
Another thing you can do,
instead of just drawing,
you can put a little bit of the color on
and take a brush
and paint the cookies.
This is an apple,
so we'll make it look like an apple.
See?
Now it looks like an apple!
Sort of!
Thanks for watching you guys!
There will be a little playlist link on this video somewhere.
You can go see some of the other
cookies that we made.
Let us know if you make them for your dogs.
You can't have this one.
This one is for Shelby.
Let us know if you make them for your dogs.
Tell us what they thought.
These girls liked them!
OK! No more cookies for the rest of the day.
Too many cookies!
