Husky in EXTREME COLD? | Fan Friday 178

Hi guys! I'm the Nora! This is April! And that's Sophie! It's time for... Feed Friday! It's time for feed! Right? I feel like, I'm losing my voice. Am I losing my voice Shelby? First question is for Shelby! What's Shelby's favorite toy? Shelby likes squeaky tennis balls. I actually think, I need to get her some more Because, I don't think... She had one last night while we were watching Once Upon a Time, but I think she popped it. So squeaky tennis balls, by far are Shelby's favorite toy. Sled Dog says, I noticed that Shelby only turns her head if you say her name three times. Does she always do that? I love Shelby head tilts. I don't know, let's see if we can get her to do it. Shelby! Are you a good girl? Oh! We didn't have to say your name. We just said, are you a good girl? Shelby! Do you want some dinner? Are you hungry? Do you want some food? Do you wanna... Shelby, do you want some snow? Do you want it to snow? Do you want it to snow outside? You want it to snow outside? Oakley wants it to snow outside. Alright Oakley, we'll make it snow outside. Hopefully soon! I know, hopefully soon! Ernie and Henry on Instagram wants to know, is it true that Huskies and Malamutes are the only dogs that can stay in super low temperatures? Um, they're probably not the only dogs that can do it. But they are one of the breeds that can withstand extremely cold temperatures. Most of the time they actually prefer to stay outside when it's cold. Not my girls. They always tend to want to come back in. I let them out even when it's snowing and it's cold and they sit right by the back door like, all right we're done. We'll play for a little while but we're done. But yes, I believe it's down to minus 30 or something like that with the wind chill. They just ball up into little fluffy balls and tuck themselves in the snow and stay warm. Yeah you do! Sheridan and Huddy wants to know, have you ever had any complications with your dogs and small dogs? Um, Huskies tend to think of small animals sometimes as something fun to play with. Kind of like a toy. Shelby has small dog complex. Sometimes she gets along real well with small dogs and sometimes she thinks they're squirrels. Memphis gets along with them okay. Oakley gets along with them okay. It's just I would never ever leave any of the girls alone with a small dog ever. No matter what. I mean that's... No matter what I would not leave them alone with a small dog because you just never know. Blondiebell26 says, I saw your most recent video on the pig's ears. My dogs love them. They also like pig hooves. Have you tried those? I haven't tried pig's hooves yet. I have seen those a few times but I don't think the girls have ever actually had those. They have had cow hooves. I don't like those because they're kind of sharp. You know when they when they actually start to bite them they kind of get a little bit sharp. Are you sleepy Memphis? Are you sleepy? But yes they love the pig ears. They loved all that stuff that they got in Wednesday's video. If you guys didn't see Wednesday's video you should go check it out. The girls got sent a box of amazing treats and they absolutely loved them. TheRealMCArcticWolf says, if you can't shave a husky because it will burn its skin then can you shave a Labrador since a Labrador's fur is short? A groomer said it's a good idea to shave dogs with short hair because they shed a lot. Is this true? If you actually had a groomer tell you that you need a new groomer right now. Right now. If you had a groomer tell you it's a good idea to shave dogs with short hair you need a new groomer. One, they don't shed any less. They just make shorter hair everywhere. That's all it is. They'll still shed just the same. They'll just shed less and no Labradors aren't meant to be shaved either. They need their fur for protection just like the huskies need their fur for protection. I know tell them they don't shave dogs. Malteses and Yorkies and things like that they have hair that actually keeps growing. You can trim their hair but even them you shouldn't shave them right down to the skin. Why are we all so close? You're not going to be in the camera real well if you're all this close. ChocolateOreo13 says, what does Oakley do when kids come up and want to pet the dogs? What do you do Oakley? She says, I duck. Do you duck? During Halloween we took all the girls out front for a little bit so they could say hi to everybody. Hi upside down Oakley. A couple people tried to pet Oakley and that's exactly what she did. She ducks and walks away. Not you guys huh? You two are both like we'll take some pets. We like pets. BanoTheDog has asked the classic question that we seem to get asked every week. I hear that some people say huskies don't do well off leash and others says they can be trusted. Some people say they should never be trusted. Some people say they they'll bolt if you let them off leash and they'll never come back. Don't let your husky off leash. Please just don't do it. If you want to know more about that just go to our channel page and type in husky off leash. We've done so many different videos talking about this. It's one of the things I think I get asked the most but no they shouldn't be off leash because yes they will run away as fast as they can because that's what they love to do. They love to run. Except for Memphis right now. She loves to sleep on the couch. Good job Memphis. Katrina Bell says, how much do your dogs cost on average? And when I mean cost I mean yearly. So we actually did a very long in-depth video on the cost of owning a dog. Salamander Spoon wants to know, how do you deal with picky eaters? Well Oakley and Memphis here are not very picky eaters but Shiloh was and Shelby can be. Basically with Shelby I just sometimes if she's not eating I just put something a little bit extra special on her food. You know canned dog food, a little bit of yogurt, a little bit of whatever, chicken broth, just so she'll eat it. What are you doing? Are you being upside down Memphis? With Shiloh I used to do the same thing. Sometimes you just need something a little bit different when you have a picky eater, right? You like to be... I think Shelby just does it to get something special on her food, don't you Shelby? So yeah, yeah that's totally it. What are you doing upside down Memphis? Oh upside down Memphis! Oh there's the cuteness! Really? Really? This is, this is the thing? You're a dork! Is it typical for Huskies to lay in really strange fashions? Um yes, i.e Memphis. Good example! Are you setting a good example? That does not look comfortable in the least. Then we got Shelby over here laying in her classic dead rabbit pose. Yeah you girls are a riot. Rose wants to know, are you going to send out holiday pictures of the girls like you did last year? For those of you that are new to this channel, you may have missed it. Last year at the beginning of December we made a video called Holiday Card Exchange and the deal was for everybody that sent us a card, we were going to send one back. I'm pretty sure we're going to do it, so you will just have to keep watching for that video. Last year we sent back 386, I think it was, Christmas cards. So it was a lot. It was a lot of work, but it was a lot of fun. Possibly. If you guys want us to do it again, comment down below and let us know. This year though if we do it, we might have it where if you want a card back we might ask that you send a stamp along too, because it gets really expensive to send out that many cards and I have a feeling if we do it this year it'll be double last year. Lauren says, we're thinking about getting a second Husky. Is there a big difference from going from one Husky to two? Well you'll get a lot of this. The wrestling and the goofing off and the playing and the jumping off of furniture and the noise. You girls are nuts. She got you now. She got you now. Shelby's like, I'm done. Oh go get them Oakley. So is there a big difference between having one and having two Huskies? Yes there's a lot more activity that occurs in the house. Twice the food bill, twice the cleanup, twice the vet bills, but it is fun to watch them play. They do tend to keep each other busy. Even Oakley sometimes, right old girl? We got some mayo and the dogs decided they're gonna have some dinner while we open the mayo. We got a letter from Kelsey with this really awesome Husky 101 book that's pretty cool. There's a whole bunch of information in it and Kelsey wants to know where you can get a sledding harness for your dog. We buy all of our harnesses for sledding from alpineoutfitters.net. Kylie says that they're having problems with their Husky going to the bathroom in the house. You have to let the dog outside multiple times, especially if you're trying to break them of going to the bathroom in the house. Make sure you are letting that dog out multiple times during the day and giving great reward whenever they go to the bathroom outside. Keep them in the same room as you so you can kind of keep an eye on what they're doing and if they start to go to the bathroom you can yell no and grab a hold of their collar and take them outside and then when they go outside give them a treat. That would be what I would suggest. Awesome, awesome drawings by the way. We got a letter from our friend Beth who has written us many times before and she let us know that her dog Sasha passed away. She said, I see Sasha in all of your girls. I see her youth in Memphis. Her youth, exuberance, dexterity and curiosity. I see her maturity in Shelby. Her brilliant blue eyes, athletic ability, confidence, watching my every mood and I especially see her in Oakley. We decided to walk out of the cleaning room. Oakley, we're talking about you. We're talking about you. She looked like her in coloring and size in that stiff walk. We're sorry to hear that Beth. Look at how pretty Sasha. Look at Oakley. Look how pretty Sasha was. And we got a drawing from Miranda and we got some awesome drawings from Savannah. One of baby Memphis, one of princess Shiloh and one of fluffy butt Oakley.
