KEEP HUSKIES COOL IN SUMMER | Fan Friday 211

This is Bobo and it's Fan Friday! Yay! It's time for Fan Friday! Husky lover three wants to know, if Memphis still has her whistle? She does! So far, she's the only one that I put it on. I have one for the other two dogs, but I'm still kind of just playing around with it. I plan on doing a whole video on what it is and how it works and all that fun stuff. Probably within the next week or two. But yes, Memphis is still using her whistle. It's pretty neat. Tracks her play, tracks her sleep, tracks her walks. It's kind of neat. It's like a Fitbit for dogs. MySwiftyStyle says, do you have any advice on how to stop a dog from counter surfing? Yes! Don't leave anything on the counter that's edible. Make sure always put edible food away. Don't leave it out on the counter. That's the best way to deter a dog from getting up on the counter and trying to eat the food. Quite a few of you asked today, how do you dry the dogs off after they play in the pool? I actually just emptied the pool the other day. Oakley doesn't get in it, but... There you are! You're behind me. We usually just dry them off with a towel. If they get really, really, really wet, we use the blow dryer and blow dry them for a few minutes, but pretty much we just use the towel. That little pool doesn't get them too wet. Hello the fur fly! Apparently the girls want to hang out in the shade. Buck the Husky wants to know, is it okay to take my 10 week old Husky puppy hiking or is he still a bit too young? You really don't want a dog to be out and about and hiking too much until they at least have all of their first rounds of puppy shots. Usually about 12 to 16 weeks old and then yeah you can take them hiking. Just don't overdo it. Don't go for super long distances and you might end up having to carry the puppy, but you can. You can definitely go for short hikes with your puppy at a young age. Another question we seemed to get a lot this week was, how do you keep your dogs, how do you keep your Huskies cool in the summertime? Well one of the things we do is we actually have three pools now. We had the big one that the lawnmower ate, but Jamie fixed it with duct tape. We have a little one that we fill every once in a while and then we also have a medium sized one. We usually fill those and let the girls play in them. Now Memphis and Shelby will actually play in them. Oakley won't even walk in them. So for Oakley a lot of the times you know I put ice cubes in the water dish. We make frozen dog treats. Oakley doesn't really like anything that helps her get cool so she pretty much just digs a hole in her sandbox and lays in it and that cools her off. She likes to be in the shade like she is right now or out there underneath the A-frame in the shade. Dana Lavarez says, how soon can a Husky have puppies? Do me a favor, don't bother breeding your Husky if that's a question you're actually asking. Please, thanks. Needabubble Brooklyn says, how did you get Memphis to calm down because I need that for my puppy? Exercise, exercise, exercise, exercise. Yeah it's about it. It usually worked the best when she was really really hyper as a puppy. Lots of play, lots of exercise, lots of activity. Voodoo the Husky says, how do you like the new GoPro? If you guys didn't see it on Wednesday we put up a video of the girls playing in the pool and we filmed the entire thing with the new GoPro Hero 4 Session that GoPro actually sent to the dogs which we thought was pretty cool and so far I'm really liking it. We have some more plans to make some pretty cool videos with it and yes I do have the GoPro fetch attachment to put on their backs and I want to do that and take them out in the big lake but it's actually been kind of windy and not actually that warm. Today it was only 71 which for me getting in the water isn't that warm. I'm sure one of these two would get in the water but it's been kind of windy. I don't know if you can see the tops of the trees moving up there but the big lake has been pretty windy so I want to do it on a more clear day when the lake's not so rough because actually I know Shelby doesn't like to swim when the waves are really big and I don't want to freak Memphis out because she likes to swim but she still can be really iffy about it and Oakley well she'll probably stay home for that adventure. She's not a big swimmer. Oh this question cracked me up. Where the sunshine grows? How can you train a Husky faster and good? Train a Husky faster and good shouldn't be faster and good shouldn't be used in the same sentence. You can't train a Husky fast. You have to take time. You have to have patience. You have to understand that it takes them time to learn things plus they're very smart so they will learn things and then learn how to avoid doing those things. So it takes time and patience and commitment. If you're going to try to do it fast like anything else in life you know you just you got to take your time. Take your time. Breathe. What are you doing Memphis? And uh eventually they will figure it out but it takes patience. You can't really do it faster. Their brains don't work any faster. Jamie's little dream says could you ever let your dogs off leash when you're in town? I wouldn't ever let my dogs off leash while I'm in town. I wouldn't do it anywhere but in their own fenced-in backyard. They don't need to be off leash. There's no reason for it. There's no need for it. I would rather keep them safe on leash everywhere we go. I know some people want to let their dogs off leash. That's not us. I don't see the point in it. I don't see the point in letting them take off and run away. It only takes a split second for them to stop listening and dogs don't think. They don't say oh there's a car coming I better not run. They think oh I'm loose and something moved I better run. They don't have that forethought to think if I run in front of this car I could die or if I run in front of this car I could get all of my legs broken. They don't think like that. As much as we like to project onto them that they think like that they don't. They really don't. So because I love them so much they can be off leash in this nice big fancy yard. Not really fancy but you know they can be off leash in the yard and uh they can be on leash everywhere else. Right? Does it mean you guys are so sad and mistreated and unhappy? Say no. You guys have seen the videos. You know they're happy dogs. Right now y'all look exhausted. It's kind of warm out here for them a little bit humid so they're all a little tired. I know you've gotten into things like sledding but what are some other cool things? Um for one they've changed our life because of oh look at your face look at the look on your face what is that look what is that look for real like what's that look what are you trying to tell me right now mom seriously mom you're such a diva you have such a diva look right now my goodness yes you diva anyway um oh please got a scratch get that scratch uh the biggest change that it's caused to our life is probably youtube and instagram and the social connections that the dogs have made with people all over the world that would probably be the biggest thing i never thought that for part of my living we would be making videos of the dogs and traveling with them and doing all this social media stuff i never ever thought that would happen so i guess that would be something big they've changed in our lives right the other big thing is they forced us to buy this house because we wanted this backyard right otherwise we probably would have stayed at the other house for a long time but once we added the second dog we needed this and then we added the third dog so we really needed this but we got you after we moved here but i would say youtube and the social media stuff is what what they have changed the most in our lives we got some mail we got some mail we're gonna open it on the table again because it's easier we got a card and a package from the traxlers did i say that right with a couple of things that they use and enjoy for summer the girls got some canine carryouts and then this is awesome bug soother repels bugs naturally i actually have some all natural bug spray that we keep in our camper so look guys look my first spray bottle the lid isn't even off of it wanna try it what is with you and spray bottles ready you're a dork silly girl the lid's not even off of it we got a letter from olivia with a puppy and olivia wants to know she should get a breakaway collar for her puppy um my advice is if you're not going to be around when the puppy is home by themselves you could just go ahead and take the collar off like if they're in their crate you should take their collar off that way it won't get snagged on anything a breakaway collar would probably work too for in the house um but remember you don't want to take them walking or anything on a breakaway collar so she sent the drawings and a letter and oh my goodness you guys look good stuff look at all this stuff you want this you want that some how did i know you were gonna take the frog toy how about you you want that i'm pretty sure shelby took yours but okay you want that oakley here wait willie the goldie and youtube at willow the golden so you guys can go check them out if you want to i see a shelby butt shelby's all we get to see is your butt um one of their questions was is there a specific type of dog training treat you would suggest yes i use zoots treats for training i really like them um is rawhide good for puppies to have i don't like giving rawhide to puppies because it can be really hard on their digestive system and even when they get older i don't give it to my dogs very often um very rarely just once in a while i don't give them a lot of rawhide and are there any other chew toys you would recommend for puppies i love the kongs stuffing the kongs with stuff for them that's probably my favorite thing to give to a puppy because it's like an interactive toy and keeps them busy for a while and we got an awesome drawing from sky kimmy on youtube and they said that we should make more treat videos well i hope to soon but it's been so busy and what are your three favorite dog breeds was the question she has well i would have to say probably siberian huskies alaskan malamutes and st bernard's that would probably be my quick answer for that and we got an awesome drawing from selena that's so cool i love the colors we got some photos and a letter from andrea and danielle and their dog aurora and they want to know if any of our dogs have ever had worms um i think shelby did as a puppy but just as a puppy uh are you fans of the movie snow dogs and eight below of course and when your dogs were puppies were they shy of out were they shy outside of the home um shiloh was these ones all the dogs we have now no but shiloh was very shy whenever we were outside of our house and we got a letter in a drawing from rachel and rachel says how many times a day do you let your dogs outside a lot at least twice in the morning a lot i would say probably like 20 times i don't know i've never actually counted and we get a letter from emily emily wants to know if huskies and cats start out as kittens together will they get along um yeah nora and jack get along and let's press record we've heard they're easy to train is that true no huskies are not easy to train they're smart they can learn a lot of things but easy to train no all right you guys that's all we have for fam friday today thanks for watching thanks for subscribing as always you can go
