Guess what we're doing today?
We're gonna make gingerbread dog houses!
โชโชโช
Alright you guys! Today, we are gonna make gingerbread dog houses!
There's gonna be little mini gingerbread dog houses that your dogs can actually eat!
If you are new to the channel, my name is Jess!
That's Oakley!
That's Memphis!
That's Shelby!
My husband Jamie will be in here, helping to roll out some treats later on.
If you never seen any of our treat videos before, up in the corner, there will be a playlist link to all of the other treat videos we've done.
If you are looking for some more fun dog treats to make.
Let's get to making gingerbread dog houses!
I had a few of you asked, if we could do this down in the comments of many previous videos.
We thought, we would actually try it and see if we can make it work.
As always, if you are looking for the written instructions on how to do this, there will be a link to our blog down in the video description below.
The first thing you are gonna need to do, is preheat your oven to 325F.
Now, we're gonna mix together all of these ingredients.
We're gonna do the dry ingredients first.
Three cups of whole wheat flour.
Half a teaspoon of ginger.
Cause you know, they're gingerbread treats!
One teaspoon of cinnamon.
Before we even go any further, for those of you that are gonna ask, if you can eat this as well.
You can! It's just not gonna be very sweet.
It's gonna taste like a gingerbread cracker.
Now, we're gonna mix these dry ingredients together for just a second.
Now, to add the wet ingredients.
A half a cup of coconut oil.
Which always smells so good!
Three quarters of a cup of water.
And then, my favorite thing ever!
Molasses!
You need a half a cup of molasses.
This is the stickiest stuff to work with.
It's worse than anything!
It's so sticky!
But apparently, it makes good dog treats!
Wanna try this?
It's gross and sticky!
Oh my goodness! It's so sticky!
Wanna try some?
It dripped down all over the place!
What you think Shelby?
Would you like to try some molasses?
She's like, no! I would like to try...
Shelby's like, uh uh!
I want finished treats!
Memphis is like, I'll lick it all!
You're gonna get all sticky!
That's enough sticky!
Now, we're gonna mix all this together!
Wanna lick the beater?
Oh!
Raw dough is the best!
Look at that! Is that good stuff?
I don't know where Shelby went!
Shelby, wanna try some?
Wanna try this?
It's all mixed together! Just not cooked!
She's like, maybe! Wanna try it?
No? Try this!
How about that?
Oh! She doesn't want to lick the beater!
She just wants me to feed her the raw dough!
Alright then! See how you are!
Alright! The next thing we need to do, is take this dough
and put it in the fridge for about fifteen minutes.
Just to cool it down a little bit.
Then, we're gonna get to the next step!
Oh! They're getting raw dough!
Alright! Now, we took the dough...
The dough!
We took the dough out of the...
I almost said the oven! The refrigerator!
I'm just all kinds of backwards today!
And now, we're gonna roll it out
and we're gonna cut it into shapes.
Now, I'm gonna put a link on the blog
to the template
that I found for making
little mini gingerbread houses,
but we converted them to dog houses.
So, we're gonna have to cut out two walls,
two roofs, one front door
and for the second one, we'll leave the gap out.
That will be the back.
Lightly flour the surface.
I'm gonna start flattening it.
With my hands and the pancake.
Memphis is like, I'm gonna...
I'm so gonna help!
I think we're good.
For each one, we need two of each.
Two roofs?
So, you stop! Quit leaking all the flour!
Two doors? Well, one door, one not door.
And two walls.
If you have lots of fun baking stuff,
there actually is this really cool tool
you can buy that's like a little mini roller
that works better than what we're using,
but I don't have one of those yet.
Okay, we made a decision.
I have these little mini
Christmas tree cookie cutters,
so we're actually gonna make the doors
look like little Christmas trees.
You can keep the little Christmas tree
and you can set it outside.
Yeah, see? A little Christmas tree.
Oh, look at how cute it is!
So, they have little Christmas tree doors.
When we do the back part of the dog house,
we're not cutting a door into it.
So, the back will be just perfectly flat
and that's what we're doing now.
So, we have...
So, we have the back
and this will be the front.
See?
And then, we have walls and a roof.
So, once we have all these cut out,
like I said, you'll be able to make
more than three. I would say,
you probably can get at least six
out of these.
There's about three per pan.
We kept our mini Christmas tree doors as well.
So, now we're gonna bake this in the oven
for about 15 to 25 minutes
and then, we have to let it cool
completely before we can go on
to the next step, which is actually putting them together.
So, that's what we're gonna do now.
Look! We have gingerbread pieces.
We have walls
and we have
roof pieces.
I need one of these for the front door.
So, there we go! We got
the front door,
the back side, some walls
and some roof tiles.
So, we're using
melted white
chocolate, which
doesn't have any cocoa in it. It's actually
okay for dogs and we're gonna use that
as the glue to hold this together.
Now, you can also use yogurt
chips if you have them
or if you really want, you can use
cream cheese, but if you use cream cheese, you're gonna have
to give them to your dogs right away because cream cheese
doesn't dry hard. It'll hold everything together
but it doesn't dry hard. So, those are the
few options. We're using white
chocolate chips because I couldn't find any yogurt
chips. So, this part of making
the treats is going to take two people.
I have my husband Jamie here helping me.
Oakley and Memphis and Shelby are helping too, but
not that much. Basically
we're gonna put the
white chocolate onto
the walls and then we're gonna have to kind of
hold it together. So,
we're gonna put a little bit on each edge of this
and then
put a little bit on each side of that.
I think we have enough.
Probably a little bit on each side
because it's gotta hold it together. Now we gotta
hold it until it dries, which will take forever.
So, instead of sitting and holding
that, I bet we can ice the
top of this while you hold it.
Looks like that looks pretty
front, so
we should probably put icing on both
sides. So, put some icing
here.
Put some more here.
Just do a thin layer.
Don't have to be a lot. Remember which way
is up. Because it's not straight, I'm gonna
take a little bit extra and I'm gonna go
just to make sure
there's enough in that corner. Oops!
Hold on.
We probably could
actually set this aside
maybe and let it dry.
Okay, so until they dry
they're gonna be pretty
fragile. So, I'm actually
gonna move this. We're not gonna put the
roofs on yet. This section has to dry completely
before we put the roofs on. So,
we're gonna continue on and we'll
see you guys again in a minute.
Girls haven't even had a chance to try them yet.
So, now they get to try them.
Oh my!
Gingerbread cookies!
You like gingerbread cookies?
Oh, they got a little snap. I hear it.
I think they like them. Yeah!
Check that out!
Looks like a little gingerbready
house. So, for the
roofs, it's just gonna go along
the top lines. So, the front
in the back and then the front
in the back on these as well.
A little bit will go a long way.
So then,
we're gonna put them on here.
Kinda hold them on
here. Oops! See, they're already sticking.
And then, do you want one across
the center? Yep! Yeah, cause it's gotta look like snow.
And then, we're gonna choose to run
one line across the middle
so it looks like a snowy roof.
And then, we're gonna set this
aside to dry. But
you get a good idea of what
our little gingerbread dog houses
are gonna look like. Now, if
you want, they're perfectly
fine to feed them to your dogs, just like this.
If you don't want to add anything else to them, you don't want to put
any other stuff on them,
you don't have to. But we
are gonna decorate ours with a little bit
more items.
We bought some candy cane sprinkles
and some snowflake sprinkles and some beads.
Now again, I'm gonna clarify.
These are a treat.
This is not a meal
replacement. It's a treat. It's ok
for dogs to have things in moderation.
Moderation is key.
You don't want to feed them a lot of sugar. A little bit of sugar
is gonna be ok. And if you don't feel comfortable
feeding them sugar, make them like this
and then, for sticking them together, use
cream cheese instead. Put some cream cheese on the roof
and it'll be perfectly fine and
they'll look great. But, we're gonna get a little
bit more creative with these. So, we're gonna put the rest
of these together and then, we'll show you how we're gonna decorate them.
Check it out you guys!
Gingerbread dog houses
with custom Christmas tree doors.
So, we put a little bit
of sprinkles and everything on each one.
Again, not a lot.
They should be perfectly fine for the dogs to eat.
Check these out.
Look how cool they all are.
I like that one.
I like the roof tiles on that one.
This one's got a little bit of extra
stuff on it, but it'll look really cool.
We had to try it.
I don't know.
Everybody's gonna want to know if they're safe for people to eat.
Yeah, that's a good question.
I don't know. Here, I got a Christmas tree.
Wanna try it? No. Daria!
Are you gonna try it?
Make sure they can see you.
Did you try it?
We dipped it in the white chocolate.
Tastes like a gingerbread cracker.
They're actually pretty good.
I would say, that's a win.
So hey, if you can't have a lot of sugar,
you can make them for yourself.
They taste like gingerbread crackers.
Yeah, it's actually more crackery.
Cool.
Now comes the best part.
The dogs get to try them.
Not yet!
Just for you?
She's like, yeah, that's totally for me.
You're not gonna eat it right here though.
Alright, we're gonna let the dogs try them.
Alright, we're doing this one at a time.
Memphis is like,
daddy, can I have that please?
Can I have it?
She's like, I'll do anything, give me my gingerbread house.
Are you ready?
Bye gingerbread house.
I'm gonna lose fingers.
How fast will she eat it?
We thought if we did it one at a time,
they would be a little bit slower
at eating them.
Oh, I think she will too.
Can I eat this on my bed?
I'm gonna eat this on my bed.
What is it Memphis?
She's like...
There, she got a piece off.
Looks like she broke the front door.
She's like, whoa.
This is pretty good.
Oh, there she's getting it apart.
Is it good?
Alright.
Memphis says, it's a win.
Alright.
Oakley's turn.
Are you excited?
Do you want that?
She's like, that gingerbread house is for me?
You don't get paws here.
Alright, hold on.
That gingerbread house is for me.
You can take it wherever you want.
She's like, I'm gonna take it right here.
There's nobody else out here, so you can take your time.
She likes it.
She's like,
I'm gonna eat the Christmas tree off the front door.
Oh, there's pieces falling off.
She's just like the other one.
She's like, I've never had a treat like this before.
I'm not really sure how to do this.
Oh, there she goes.
I take that back wall.
Oh, this is amazing.
Super good stuff.
Alright.
I think Oakley says, it's a win.
Alright.
Shelby's turn for her gingerbread house.
Oh, you're excited.
She's like, wait.
I'm super excited.
Alright.
The slowest ever.
She's like,
I would like to try this right here.
Oh, she got the roof off.
She's like,
which piece do I want first?
I'll take this piece.
Is it good stuff?
Is it a win?
She's like, oh, this is pretty good.
I kind of like this.
I think Shelby says,
this is a win.
