MINTY DOG BONES - DIY Dog Treats | Snacks with the Snow Dogs 17

What are we doing girls? We are going to make minty dog cookies! Alright! So, what are we doing? Are we gonna make cookies? Let's make some cookies! Okay! We need a tablespoon of vegetable oil. One cup of water. So, we mixed the oil and the water first. Now, slowly add flour and other ingredients. You need two and a half cups of whole wheat flour. Stir and pour. You want me to stop adding flour? No, cause it's gonna be dry. You don't want a really wet treat or else you'll have to bake it a little bit longer to get the extra moisture out. I forgot to preheat the oven! Oh no! You gotta preheat the oven to 350F before you start. We're gonna go do that. I'm gonna add in some more flour. I'm probably gonna start mixing it by hand. That's what I was thinking. You're gonna really need to get it... I was thinking you should mix it by hand. Knead it together. As soon as you touch it with your hands, you'll notice that it's still really wet. Okay, we're also gonna add a half of a cup of oatmeal. Cause it's good for you. And then we need one third of a cup of chopped parsley. Wanna smell some parsley? What is that? I don't know what it smells like. Where did Shelby go? She managed to make it under the table. She did? Alright. Add some green to that. Holy crap! And then, the best part. Two tablespoons of fresh mint. I'll just pour it on your hand. Hey, thanks. I'll mix it in there real good. Now, if you have a bread machine, you can always stick these ingredients into the bread machine and stick it on the dough setting. Or if you have a KitchenAid mixer. Or a KitchenAid mixer. Maybe Santa Claus should bring us one of those. Mix up these ingredients probably much easier than by hand. You're shy, huh? That'll be nice and soft for ya. Is that good? You like that? Doughy? You don't like the doughy, huh? You want it to be cooked first, huh? Shiloh likes her treats cooked first. Stick that back in the cabinet. Call it clean. Come here, soap! Come here, water! That's what we should have named you. Soap and water. Oh, somebody's gonna yell at me. Don't let your dog lick your dishes! You're gonna lick the dishes? Oh, lick the dishes! You're supposed to get the dough to about a quarter of an inch thick. Because... And about right now it's... Oh gosh, it's pretty... It's a lot thicker than I want it to be. The thinner you get it, the crispier it'll get. Oven's preheated. Yeah, if you make your treats too thick, they'll have too much moisture in them. Hey, Oakley. I'm gonna use a roller and get it to that final thickness. Thanks for the dog hair on the cookies. What you think? It looks pretty good. So there's about how thick you want them to be. They look like trees. That's funny. Yeah, my candy cane doesn't really look like a candy cane. Hey! What are you doing? You're gonna eat it raw? You can't eat that! Are you supervising Shi? How about you Shelby? Are you supervising too? Oakley's just trying to eat all the pieces that fall. We got cookies! We ended up with about two trays full of cookies. That's about how much you'll get out of that recipe. So now, we're gonna take these, we're gonna put them in the oven and bake them at 350F for 35 minutes. Jamie's got a little bit of leftover dough there. He's gonna fit on the tray. Oh look, she's so pretty! That was such a good girl! Can I have your paw? Shiloh wants some? Try some?
