Day 697 - Ice Storm Cleanup & Massive Oak Logs
The ice storm left its fingerprints on everything. When we installed gutters on the shop, it stopped the muddy splashback onto the shop. We also installed gutter guards to prevent leaf debris from clogging up the gutters. That created a platform for the ice to bridge over the gutters during the storm. The ice slid slowly and hung over the edge of the shop, allowing a drip edge to form in open air. It took quite a while for the ice to finish melting and dripping, which caused a lot of dirt to splash back onto the shop. A LOT of dirt. The caked-on dirt keeps moisture trapped against the metal, causing accelerated rusting.
While we were at it, we might as well check another box. We created a gravel pad in front of the door. Something that should have been done long ago, but a good example of out of sight, out of mind.
And a few more logs were added to the stockpile. Some big ones. I'm in the market for an Alaskan chainsaw mill and a chainsaw to pair it with. Any recommendations?
