A Narrow-Lot Modern Home Designed Around a Stunning Central Courtyard
Casa SRG is a contemporary residential project located in Pachuca, Hidalgo, built on a compact 7 × 19 meter site. The limited footprint inspired a design strategy focused on spatial efficiency, natural light, and interior fluidity.
To maximize comfort and openness, the architects carved out a central courtyard, transforming it into the heart of the home. This void organizes the entire project—providing optimized cross-ventilation, curated views, and a strong connection with nature. A monumental magnolia tree, surrounded by ferns and lion’s claws, becomes the sculptural anchor of the ground level.
The ground floor embraces an open-plan layout, where quarry-stone cladding flows from the facade to the interior, visually linking exterior and interior spaces. A three-level iron lattice staircase acts as both a safety feature and a vertical visual centerpiece, maintaining continuous sightlines to the courtyard.
Upper floors host the secondary bedrooms, a playroom, and a bar with a terrace—creating a flexible environment for family gatherings and social events. To unify the exterior expression, the facade is finished in Chukum, an endemic Yucatán material known for its natural waterproof qualities and unique texture. A facade planter introduces a touch of greenery, preserving the soft natural theme present throughout the home.
Casa SRG stands as a thoughtful example of how narrow-lot architecture can become spacious, warm, and full of life through strategic design and a strong relationship with nature.
