House With Eight Light Courtyards reimagines compact urban living by using eight strategically placed courtyards, skylights, and high-side windows to fill every space with natural light while maintaining complete privacy. Designed by ha (hosaka hironobu architect associate) in Yokohama, Japan, the 114-square-meter residence combines overlapping atriums, a refined timber-and-steel structure, and carefully framed openings to create a bright, spacious, and ever-changing interior. Rather than relying on decorative elements, the house demonstrates how thoughtful planning and the precise orchestration of daylight can transform a modest home into a rich and immersive architectural experience.
