And this change to be more inclusive has happened gradually over the last several years. In 2017, the Boy Scouts announced that they would be allowing girls into their ranks. And of course, it seemed a little unnatural for girls to be called Boy Scouts. So the next year, they implemented a policy that the main category for children ages 11 to 17 would no longer be called Boy Scouts. Instead, it would be called Scouts BSA or just Scouts. Now, although this seems so inclusive to some people, one group was very unhappy about that change. And that was the Girl Scouts. If the girls are joining the Boy Scouts, it would really hurt their own numbers because then girls wouldn't join the Girl Scouts. They also didn't like the use of just the term Scouts or Scouting with no boys attached because they claimed that that infringed on their territory. It actually became quite a court case. But eventually, a judge ruled that it was unfair and unlawful for the Girl Scouts to claim any kind of patent on the term Scouting. He said that both organizations had the use of the word Scouts and Scouting.
