To welcome the new year, the Musketeers are hosting a series of challenges that will put these Shen Yun dancers' skills to the test.
In part two of this New Year's special, two dancer teams face off against each other in a heated competition judged by the same no-nonsense panel (Will and co). From a relay race to a balloon popping contest, the dancers will find that these competitions aren't as straightforward as they seem. Will the girls' team prevail or will the boys be crowned the final winners of 2022?
Go!
The fourth challenge is a relay race.
From that line, they're gonna front walk over
consecutively to this side,
high-five their partner,
and then this person will go back one more time,
and finally, the third person will finish the race on that side,
crossing the line, okay?
Guys have more strength,
so they can push themselves out with their legs in the air.
Alright, so first to finish wins.
Three, two, one, go!
Oh my god!
You wanna file a complaint?
Yeah, that's the message.
Okay, but one thing that we have to say is,
the girls performed the movement
more gracefully and better looking.
Yeah.
Team TryHard won that round.
Yeah.
So we'll give them a point.
It's three to two now.
Party Hat is down one.
That's okay, you guys can win.
It's not over yet.
The next challenge is the balloon popping challenge.
What we have to do is,
you have to pop it while doing a leg hold, okay?
So you can't use your hands to squeeze it,
but you have to use your legs in between your body,
and you have to pop it like that.
So one person will do the leg hold,
and everyone else on the team can just assist.
So you can help hold him,
and you can maybe help pull his leg in,
or you can help stabilize the balloon,
but you can't squish the balloon, okay?
It's hard work.
Not clean.
Three, two, one, go.
Oh, why?
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.
What's wrong?
Load up the cannon.
It's like loading up the cannon.
Oh my gosh.
Loud, it's loud.
23 seconds.
Oh my gosh, this is too much.
Three, two, one, start.
Hold it, hold it in place.
Hold the balloon.
Someone hold it from the front.
Go, go, go.
Go, go.
21.56.
Oh, the girls.
Team Party has won by two seconds.
What is it?
21.56.
They won by two seconds.
Currently, the points are tied at 3-3.
Party has the three points, and...
Party has the three points,
and TryHard also has three points.
Okay, so we're moving on to challenge number six,
handkerchief challenge.
Whichever team pulls off the most impressive trick wins.
Wins the round.
It's gonna be best two out of three,
and you have to impress us.
I got this.
I'm preparing for handkerchief.
I'll show you.
Pretty intense one.
The leader has to work hard in practice too.
It's pretty impressive.
Pretty good.
Three, two, one.
Oh my goodness, how many has it been?
Three, two, one.
Let us explain our reasons.
The guys, they were basically just doing a hanky throw and a backflip,
which is not really that impressive of a handkerchief technique, right?
Yeah.
And the girls, what they did was,
they threw it, and it boomerangs back,
and they did a...
Front aerial.
So that's more impressive.
It's short, but it's difficult.
It's short, but difficult and challenging.
You have to be very precise in your timing
and the angle of which you release the hanky.
And then you have to coordinate your footwork,
get into your aerial,
and then get up, spot your hanky,
and catch it before it flies out of range.
And we do this for the show very often,
so it takes a lot of practice.
I think you have a large chance to see what it looks like.
Let's see what they're trying to do.
They're utilizing synchronization.
This is very difficult.
Ready?
Three, two, one, reveal.
Sam, you gotta face reality.
It's okay.
Try hard.
It's okay, guys.
We just have to try harder.
I was impressed.
Right now, it's party hats, 4 points,
and try hard, 3 points.
Okay, so now we're doing the final challenge.
Challenge number 7.
And each team captain will take turns.
You have to call your parents,
either your mom or dad,
and then you have to get them to say,
I love you.
Whoever does it in the shortest amount of time wins.
But you can't directly tell them to say,
I love you back.
We're gonna make this count for 2 points.
All right, so team try hard has a chance
to steal the win here.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm super nervous,
but I love you, mom.
Hey, mom.
No, mom, I want to say something to you, actually.
Happy New Year, and I love you.
Mom, I love you.
Okay, thank you so much.
Yeah, I love you, but are you gonna...
What do you feel about me?
Thank you so much.
No, no, mom.
I love you, mom.
What do you feel about me?
Can you express your...
To me?
Yeah.
Mom, mom, mom.
I love you.
How do you feel?
Do you feel the same about me?
No, but do you feel the same...
Okay, I love you too, mom.
Okay, I'll call you back later.
Thank you.
That was very hard.
Hello?
Uh, I just want you to say I love you.
Thank you.
Uh, yeah, yeah.
Oh, oh, he said it.
Uh, I love you.
I love you too.
So we made it to the end of our challenge,
and team party hats wins!
Anyway, we want to wish everyone
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe!
Mom, I love you.
Thank you for going through all that for me,
but thank you.
Hey, dad.
Sorry, that was just for a challenge,
but I actually do love you, okay?
So unfortunately, we lost.
And the punishment for that is...
We have to clean up the confetti in this, okay?
Guys, let's get working.
Let's go.
All right, Jason, get the hardware.
Guys, on three, we'll try harder next year, okay?
Three, two, one, try harder next year!
Get to work.
Get back to work.
Guys, Radio City.
Oh my gosh.
This is where I debuted with Xinyin,
and that was in 2010.
So 12 years ago, I debuted here.
It was my first show here,
and I was really nervous,
and I couldn't even look at the audience.
I couldn't look at my fellow dancers,
and I just remember just counting the beats in my head
to get by with the show.
This is actually my first time coming back after 12 years,
and just seeing this place again is...
It's pretty emotional for me, actually,
because it draws a full circle for me, actually,
performing for 12 years.
And I'm really grateful to be able to perform
with Xinyin for so long, 12 years.
It's not a small number.
And it just makes me so grateful,
and I cherish every moment I had these 12 years,
be it good or bad.
And I don't know, just being here is just...
Thank you, Jason.
It's good.
I never performed in New York City before.
You only did here.
So let's eat now, and...
Happy New Year!
