天安門是中國的象徵代表物，是因為這裡是古代〝金鳳頒詔〞的地方，也就是中國有重要事情向國際宣佈的地方，所以天安門是中國的舞台。在這裡有許多的典故和故事，例如：收集百民意見的華表(謗木) 、提醒皇帝的〝吼〞等等。門前的石獅的數目和一個小洞，所隱藏的故事講述。

天安門之後是一個象徵性的城門叫做端門，所謂的〝端〞就是整束儀容的意思。在 百年 故宮 的官員，來到這個端門的時候，都要以肅穆的態度，準備見到皇帝。這個城門也是皇帝儀仗隊的庫房，根據史料記載：當時有一萬八千副閃亮的盔甲，以及其它鹵簿存在這裡。另外城樓上有口3噸大鐘，皇帝朝會、出巡時敲響，達到震懾人心、端肅儀表的目的。

Officials of the Centenary Forbidden City must prepare to meet the emperor with a solemn attitude when they come to this Duanmen. This city gate was also the storehouse of the emperor's honor guard. According to historical records, eighteen thousand pairs of shining armors and other items of armor were stored here at that time. In addition, there is a 3-ton bell on the tower, which is rung by the emperor when he attends court meetings or goes out on patrol to shock people's hearts and keep his appearance in order.
