Hello everyone, welcome to the life of Anno Sado.
This time I'm in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.
I came here to visit Karatsu-yaki, which is a must-see when talking about yaki-mono used in tea-brewing.
Karatsu-yaki, which has been loved by tea-makers for a long time, is here.
Among the Karatsu-yaki, there is a specialty that has been around for about 430 years since the time of Azuji Momoyama.
That is Nakazato Taroemon-gama.
The name of Nakazato Taroemon has been used for generations, and now 14 Taroemon are active.
Mr. Kawakami of the workshop welcomed me.
From now on, he will guide me around the Noborigama and the workshop. I'm excited.
The first thing I saw was Tojinmachi Ochawan Kama-ato.
It is a Kama that was baked in Karatsu, Saga Prefecture.
This Noborigama is a Kama that was made by the 5th generation Nakazato Kiheiji and produced many works until the 11th generation.
I'm in the middle of Kama-baking, so let's go see it.
You can see a burning flame from the side window.
If you look closely, it's powerful.
In the Kama, Mr. Taroemon's works are being baked right now.
I wonder what kind of works are in it.
According to the craftsman, the fire has started since yesterday, and the firewood is being thrown while taking a break in pairs.
The temperature is raised to about 1300 degrees, but the temperature adjustment greatly affects the finish of the work,
so it requires a sense of returning to the experience of flowing, such as the place to throw and the timing.
He controls the fire and controls the Kama.
The firewood used is Akamatsu, which is characterized by its fast fire spreading speed.
Noborigama is a Kama that was made using a slope like a letter.
The long Kama that extends above is divided into multiple rooms, and there is a path through the flames between the rooms.
Noborigama of this shape was transmitted from Korea at the end of the 16th century through the East China Sea,
and spread all over Japan.
It seems that it will take a while to pull it out, so I will guide you inside the workshop.
There are a lot of works lined up.
In Nakazato Taroemon Gama, the works made by the workshop craftsmen are called Kamamono,
and the three dots called Mitsuboshi are the markers.
The works made by Mr. Taroemon have such signs engraved on them, and are called Sakkamono.
Mr. Taroemon was here.
Since the exhibition will be held in a few days, he was busy preparing in his work clothes.
When I asked him to shoot a YouTube video, he kindly accepted it and guided me inside the workshop.
First of all, I will go to the Ochawan Kama Memorial Museum,
where you can see the works of Mr. Taroemon Taroemon,
This building was renovated from a house that had been used for 150 years and opened in March 2020.
It was used as a residence for the 12th and 13th generations, and it is said that the 14th generation Mr. Taroemon also gave birth here.
When you enter, you will see a lot of works, and it is as if you have stepped into a museum.
On the table, there are works such as Tataki-no-tsubo and Ushi,
which were awarded a special prize at the first Japanese exhibition held by the 13th generation.
Tataki is a unique technique used in the molding of small skulls,
and the 12th generation revived the one that was once carved, and was recognized as a national treasure by its achievements.
It is now recognized as one of the 13th and 14th generations, and Tataki-no-tsubo has become the great name of Taroemon Nakazato.
This is a work that Mr. Taroemon won a special prize at a Japanese exhibition when he was 32 years old.
It is called Yaki-shime-tsubo.
It is said that it was made based on the technique of Hanera-style pottery in Southeast Asia.
Tataki-no-tsubo is also used in this work.
And what is on display in this glass case is Kenjo-karatsu.
Kenjo-karatsu was burned in the Noborigama, which is a national historical site, which I introduced at the beginning.
It was burned about 300 years ago, and Kenjo-karatsu was collected in the Shogun family, and it is on display here.
There are not only Kenjo products, but also works with delicate brushwork.
The store next to the entrance is also an exhibition space, and 12 famous products such as Chosen Karatsu and Mimitsuki Mizusashi, including small karatsu from the Momoyama period, are lined up.
In this memorial hall, you can eat with Kenjo-karatsu in the glass case you saw earlier and small karatsu from about 430 years ago.
I asked him why he came up with such a bold idea to eat with such a precious plate.
It's a memorial hall, but I wanted to make it a memorial hall with an artistic element, so I wanted to eat it and actually touch it in my hand, not just look at it.
He answered with a smile, saying,
He is a very generous person.
These flowers are from his wife, and his wife can put flowers of all seasons in 8 to 10 places such as memorial halls, hot springs, and homes.
This Nanma is a work of his 25-year-old son.
One day, he went to sketch an island floating in the sea of limits seen from Karatsu Bay and dug it up for 6 hours that night.
I feel a warm family love that it will be used as part of the memorial hall.
Next, I will show you the exhibition hall.
A lot of works by craftsmen called Kamamono are on display, and you can buy them.
The new exhibition hall displays works by the 13th and 14th Taroemon as if they were a museum.
There are a lot of things I want to use in the tea bath, such as matcha bowls and flower pots, and my eyes are dazzled.
Please touch it.
He opened the glass door and showed me the 13th Taroemon.
No, no.
I was wondering.
It's light because it's made with a slapping technique.
Please.
Once again.
Then I was rude and tried to hold it.
Wow!
It looks strong and powerful, but it's very light.
This is something you don't know until you actually touch it.
When I saw it up close, it was deep green.
The 13th Taroemon was made with a slapping technique, such as large pots and water pots.
I found a beautiful pot.
When I asked him, he said it was a reproduction of the pot of Nara-san, a national treasure owned by Taisha Munakata in Fukuoka Prefecture.
It was made on a request and presented to Taisha Munakata.
If you have any other interesting works, please open the glass door and take them out.
What a brilliant artist!
I had a cup of tea in this space like a museum.
After dealing with Ganpuku, it's time for Shifuku.
After enjoying many wonderful works, I was also guided to the tea room and garden of my house.
This large Taroemon is a work that was burned at the end of the Seizen period by Noborigama, who was baking Kencho Karatsu, which was introduced at the beginning of the video.
This Taroemon seems to be watching over the Nakazato family here.
The house is located in the same site right next to the workshop.
This house was designed by Junzo Yoshimura, who was involved in the construction of the Koukyo Shingu-den, and it was built 41 years ago.
There is a tea room of Hiroma and Koma in the house, and this is also by Sotoshi Nakamura, who is also a representative of Japan.
It is a very valuable building that was built in Kyoto, dismantled once, and further assembled here.
It is said to be a cultural property in Izu.
I listened to the story while looking at the garden in Hiroma.
According to the story of Taroemon, it is a pity that there is no museum of Karatsu-yaki, although it has a history of about 430 years.
It has been active since a few years ago to have a museum built in Karatsu City, and it is said that 16,000 pieces of art, centered on Kogaratsu, have been donated to the city.
It would be nice if a museum could be built in the near future.
In addition, there is a land of about 6,000 pots here, and there are tea bowls, tea rooms, and memorials, and I would like to make the city while taking advantage of this in the future.
said that it is said that it is said that it is said that it is said that it is said that it is said that
it is. I've put up a link of the work. If you're interested,
please take a look at it from
How was it? Karatsu-yaki is made of a wide variety of ingredients and ingredients.
The more you use the taste of the soil, the more it will be soft and delicious.
It's a dish that you can enjoy the flavor with time.
The bowls used this time will also be used by people and will change over time.
In the near future, I would like to buy a bowl made by Mr. Taro Emon and raise it carefully.
In the next video, I will introduce Karatsu sweets, local cuisine, and beautiful gardens and tea culture in Karatsu.
Please look forward to it.
