Every Thermomix owner should know this hack.
Hi, it's Desi again from my magic pot kitchen.
And we know that when the Thermomix starts working again,
it can be overwhelming.
You may be overwhelmed at one or the other point
and may not even know what left-hand running means
or with the help of the spatula.
We'll give you all these tips in today's episode.
Today, I have the support of my dear colleague Vivica.
Please introduce yourself.
Hi, I'm Vivica and I'm from the social team at Sabatoft.
Vivica is also a Thermomix newbie.
She doesn't know much about the kitchen yet.
No.
And I know that I get voice messages from you every now and then
with a question.
Yes.
And we always have that from readers and viewers.
And the questions are very identical, I have to say.
Absolutely.
I always notice that.
And that's why we're going to explain in today's episode
how to set up the knife
and what it has to do with left-hand running.
The spatula.
What can I do with the accessories?
So really everything.
And that's why we're starting right now.
But don't forget to subscribe to our channel beforehand.
We're always happy about every new follower.
Exactly, what do you really want to know?
Yes, exactly.
So the first thing I asked myself, and we always read it online,
how do I actually disassemble my Thermomix?
Can I really put everything in the dishwasher that's in there?
Yes.
Good question.
We get asked that a lot.
And you can already see, we really have all three Thermomix models today.
Here, the TM31, the TM6 and the TM5.
In case there are any differences, we can demonstrate all of that.
So just in case, no matter which model,
everything can go into the dishwasher,
except for the white base devices.
Nevertheless, you don't have to put it in the dishwasher every time.
And if you put it in the dishwasher,
I would definitely recommend that you take out the knife
so that it is properly cleaned at the bottom.
And I can definitely show you how to do that again.
I'll just do it here on the TM6.
It's really the same everywhere.
It's best to pull it over here with your thumb and turn it.
And then you can really take the knife out like this.
And you can put everything in the dishwasher.
In between, of course, you can also put it in built-in.
But once a week or so, it's good to take it apart.
Because here in these little cracks,
the one or the other collects more than usual.
Especially if you knead a lot of dough or something.
And to make it really clean, I have a little tip
on how you can put it in the dishwasher.
Because most of the time it's down there.
And then you can really just put it on top like this.
Or here with interlocking clamps.
So that there's really good water coming in.
Perfect. So I probably won't cut myself on the knife.
No. Cool.
Everything can be put in the dishwasher.
Both the mixing pot, which is made of stainless steel,
as well as all accessories such as Varoma, Garkorb,
the mixing pot lid, spatula.
Really everything.
And if I don't feel like
disassembling it completely and putting it in the dishwasher,
is there a hack that I can do that quickly in between?
So you can just put it in the dishwasher like this.
Of course, there is also a pre-washing program here on the TM6.
And otherwise just a little water in the sink.
And if you want to go really fast,
you can also just fill in water
up to above the knife, hot water.
One or two drops of dishwashing liquid.
And then you just put it back up to level 10 or 8.
Then activate the left barrel again.
Then the knife turns in the other direction again.
And the other way around again.
And then you can rinse it out and dry it.
Sometimes it's like this.
You're in the middle of it.
And then it feels weird to me with the scales.
And is it possible that sometimes
they come out of balance?
Or how do I do it right again?
What you have to pay attention to
is that the scales sometimes jump a bit.
For example, if you press the scales here once.
I'll show you here on the TM6.
By the way, you can find the scales here on the TM31,
up here if you have the TM31 at home.
So just press it up here.
And if you pressed too fast
and took the lid off too quickly,
then you always see that it slides into the minus.
That means always make sure
that the Tara button is pressed once
so that it is at zero.
And now comes an absolutely important tip.
You have to pay attention to the cable.
It must not be twisted here.
Or there must be nothing against it.
Because that weighs with it.
And very important,
that you always clean the work surface
under the Thermomix.
I'll lift it up a bit.
Here you have three suction cups.
They really always have to be clean.
Because the sensors are under there.
That means always look,
especially if you grind a lot of grain.
It can sometimes be that
a grain, however it manages,
sticks in between.
And then the scale weighs
totally inaccurate.
So that's why you can
always check that super easy.
Because most of the time
the scale is really not defective,
but just dirty.
Or a cable is stuck here
somewhere in between
or sometimes like here.
Sometimes that's enough,
if just something goes against it.
Then I asked myself,
recently we have a recipe
and I should turn on the left wheel.
And I asked myself,
okay, I'll do that now,
but what actually happens?
That's also relatively easy with the left wheel.
I'll show you in all models
where you can find it.
Here at TM5,
this arrow is basically taken here.
And when you activate the left wheel,
it jumps around.
That means also here at this level,
the left wheel.
And why the left wheel is important,
I'll tell you in a moment.
And at TM31 you find it here
and then it always has this arrow.
So always make sure
when it says in recipes,
activate the left wheel.
Always check again
if you really pressed it correctly
and then an arrow always appears.
This is always a dull side
and a sharp side.
With the sharp side, it shrinks.
And if you activate the left wheel,
then it does not turn with the sharp side,
but with the dull side.
That means it really only stirs
and does not shrink.
So it doesn't stick to the bottom
and doesn't cook so hard.
And then in comparison,
what do I do with this other attachment
that is still available?
Butterfly knife?
Butterfly knife or stir attachment
is definitely the same.
And you need that to
beat air in dishes.
For whipping cream,
whipping egg whites,
but sometimes also to whip
a mascarpone very creamy
or something like that.
Or with biscuit dough.
That is really so that a lot of air
usually stirs under the dough
or under such a cream dish.
For this you need a stir attachment
Is there something that the devices
can't do or maybe even
only one of them can do,
the others can't?
Frying. Definitely frying.
The TM6 can fry.
We also shot an episode about it.
I found the result so
la la, but feel free to watch it.
We link the whole thing.
And that really only works
with recipes from Cookie Do.
That means you can't
make your own recipes,
even if it's not the same
number of grams in there.
And that means it really heats
up to 115 or 160 degrees.
And I think that works
so well. I don't think it's so cool.
So I would always recommend
if you want to have a roast aroma,
actually just take the pan.
Nobody takes it away from you,
just because the Tarmix is at home.
The TM31, for example,
has only the 100 degrees
as the highest degree
and the Varoma.
With the TM5 and TM6
you can already reach 120 degrees.
That's a little more,
but caramelizing or something like that
doesn't work anyway.
Such caramelized things also work,
but only with these pre-saved recipes.
So nothing with your own.
Then you can't be creative at all.
No freestyle.
Too bad.
I'm curious.
Write in the comments what you
don't do with the Tarmix.
And I honestly think he has to be able to do everything.
Because he can do so much.
He takes so much from us.
It's a great addition,
but we're not throwing away the pan yet.
Cool.
I was just about to say,
I think the most important questions,
if you're new to it,
we've already discussed.
But do you have any more?
Because it's often in recipes
with the help of the spatula.
You asked me why there's a collar in between.
That has different reasons.
So once when it's dirty
and you put it on the work surface,
that's why it's not round,
it always hangs up here
and doesn't drip all over.
And that's exactly measured.
If you want to puree a lot,
for example,
or if you want to distribute it a little better,
it sometimes stands with the help of the spatula
and then you just hang it up here.
It's really important that the lid sits on it.
I experienced this myself with a friend.
She did it like this.
Of course, it breaks completely
and you can really hurt yourself with it.
Because it's hanging with a knife.
Yes, and it rattles a lot.
So really,
a mixing cup on top,
a mixing lid, spatula,
hang it up and then nothing happens.
It doesn't touch the knife,
it's right on and then just
turn it back and forth a little bit.
So everything is thought out.
And maybe I'll tell you something about the accessories.
Because newbies don't know that very often.
The accessories are actually
everything,
at least the basic accessories.
There are still great additions.
I've already shot an episode like this.
But all the accessories,
such as the cooking basket,
also the spatula,
here alone already this lid,
that's also a measuring cup at the same time.
Up to here are 100 milliliters in it.
Here in the middle,
there it is,
but with the TM31,
unfortunately this is no longer the original lid,
because it has flown down so often.
You may still know that
if you have the TM31,
then the lid is not fixed.
And whenever you turn the lid,
it always flies out.
This has now been solved a bit more elegantly with the TM6.
So as I said,
this can also be a measuring cup.
You can also portion dough with it.
And what I really like is
the Varoma, for example.
It is actually intended for steam cooking,
but you can also use it
to pour pasta, for example,
or to wash vegetables
or something like that,
and even as a salad slurper.
So it is worth
watching the accessory episode again,
because I really showed everything again.
So a lot can also be a bit
purposefully alienated.
And so you have
your basic kitchen equipment
with you,
which we link again.
Yes, we do.
I don't think I have any more questions.
If you still have questions,
always come with it,
because I remember when it moved in
with me 13 years ago,
I was also totally overwhelmed
and I was so afraid to press anything.
And really, I want to take the fear away from you.
The devices are really robust,
nothing happens that fast.
Really test yourself through it.
Even if it's the TM6, the TM5
or the TM31,
you can't break anything.
It only starts
as soon as the lid is on
and either the arm is closed.
With the TM31, you always have to
close the lid automatically.
That's really a safety mechanism.
It's really very, very well thought out.
But check it out.
Especially here with the TM5
or here with the TM6.
It has so many modes with things
that it's worth clicking on
because you always get a good description.
It's very intuitive.
Very self-explanatory.
Actually, yes.
And still, the questions always come
because sometimes you don't dare to click on it.
First see what happens.
We're here for that too.
If you still have questions,
always come with it.
Write it in the comments.
Of course, we'll be happy to answer them afterwards.
