Another Day Another BBQ
Good afternoon. So you turned that on I know. I did turn the ice machine on. I said wait
and we'll do the intro. I know you did say that but then I thought, you know what, I'm
just going to turn it on anyway. It is Saturday afternoon. We've got an exciting little vlog.
Just kidding. We're cooking a chicken. Yeah, we're going to cook a chicken. James has got
barbecue on the brain because you've not done anything for a while have you? I haven't done
anything for a while. It's been raining non-stop for about three weeks, isn't it? It's only
the last week or so where the sun's come out and obviously we were in Scotland but now
we're back home. It's nice and sunny. I should have cut the grass to be fair but I've had
a shower now so I won't be doing that until tomorrow. You did say you were going to cut
the grass. I forgot. It's not very often I'll have a shower and I'll need them to last.
Not very often to cut the grass either. So what's the plan? You're doing something different?
You're doing something you've not done before? I've not done a whole chicken before. I'm
going to do a whole chicken on the Traeger. I want us to be able to do this once a week
without it being too... A nice little roast chicken dinner. Yeah, without it being too
techy. Barbecue-y. That would be good. But I've just got this whole chicken and I'm just
going to put it on the Traeger for a couple of hours. I'll put some more discussion stuff
on it. Well actually, first of all, this is quite exciting. So first of all we have to
thank our sponsor this week who are none other than Hellman's. Hellman's. Which is really
cool. So Hellman's sponsoring this video? Yeah. That's unbelievable. This is the second
time that I've worked for Hellman's. Is it? Yeah. There's a little... I'm sure it's on
YouTube somewhere of me doing a Hellman's advert. Go and check it out. Wasn't you a
little... I think I was 15 at the time. Oh, I thought you were younger than that. So yeah,
Hellman's is sponsoring today's video and we're going to do something later on in the
video that I'm really into and I'm sure you guys will be into it. So stay tuned for that.
But thank you for the sponsor, Hellman's. Can't beat a bit of Hellman's mayonnaise.
It's the go-to mayonnaise as far as I'm concerned. Isn't this this? But yeah, we'll talk a little
bit about that later. But for today, you've just put the cushion, the couch cushions out.
Put the couch cushions out just for some clouds to turn up. Yeah, it's not looking as bright
as it should have done. And we're going to sit outside. Right, so what is the plan with
this though? Do you just put it in the trigger like an oven type situation? Yeah, pretty
much, yeah. I'm going to put a little rub on it before it goes in, but... I mean, you
are the man of many rubs. We've got a lot of things we could put in here. Well, that's
what I said to you. We're going to go... Oh my God. I'm going to have to do something
a bit more interesting. I've got to be honest. So spicy. I want you to sniff all of these
for me and then tell me what one you like. What time are you thinking about putting this
chicken on? How long is it going to take? I reckon it could take up to three hours.
Okay. Okay. So yeah, sunny day. Primo barbecue weather. You guys been getting the barbecues
out? Eh? What have you been up to? Let me know what you've been cooking in the comments.
You know I love reading that stuff. Because I know when someone puts something in the
comments about barbecuing, I know that's specifically for me. Yes. And it means a lot
that it does. Yeah. Usually when it's like, oh, she's so beautiful. Just go, well, hang
on a minute. She's only a tenth of what this YouTube channel really is. Wait, what's the
other ninth? You make up nine tenths of this YouTube channel. I'm 90% of why people are
No, just slagging me right off. No, I'm only joking. Everyone loves you. Well done. Let's
go and sit in the garden. You want to come? Come with us. Come with us to the garden.
Oh God, I nearly dropped you. Sorry. No, it's quite sunny. Why have I brought the chicken
with me? Walked out with the chicken. Come on, we'll bring you in the garden as well.
Is that what it is? Oh, it is hot. I might need to go and take, I've got joggers and
socks on. Yeah, you're nuts. Look at me. Shines on my leg. I know, I know. I haven't shaved
my legs then. I couldn't be bothered. You're so lucky. Summer comes around, you just be
like, oh, we'll just start wearing shorts now. I know. Summer is such a pain in the
arse for people who shave their legs. Holy moly, it is hot. It's gorgeous, isn't it?
Loving this. It's what? Gorgeous. Okay. What? I went for gorgeous. It's a strange one. Yeah,
it did feel weird coming out of my mouth. It's not something, it's not a word that I
reach for very often. Oh, this weather is gorgeous, isn't it darling? Oh, it is gorgeous.
I could just sit at it all day. But it is gorgeous. This is what I've been waiting for
Claire. Yeah. We're going to be barbecuing so much over this summer, you're not going
to believe your luck. I always hear owls from about here. It's a pigeon. Oh, is it? Yeah.
You know owls are quite dangerous? Are they? Yeah. Why? They're raptors, aren't they? Well
they killed that woman on the staircase. Poor little man went to prison for it. Anyone seen
The Staircase on Netflix? Brilliant documentary. Fascinating documentary. But it is what it
is. A strange bloke that killed his wife. No, I don't think he did. Definitely did.
Don't think he did. It was an owl. I, we're doing a vlog here. I know, it's like a, what
is that? A flying motorbike. It's the loudest plane I've ever heard. There it is there,
it's miles away. Putting your bandana on mate. Look at him look, he's went and put some nice
little shorts and a t-shirt on. I think you should do it proper pirate style. You want
it pirate style? So that his head doesn't burn. You do have a pirate shirt on. What do you
want? Okay, I'll do pirate style. Oh don't do it, don't let me. He's alright. He's his
own man. To be fair it's good though, his head won't burn. There you go bud. Looking
like the cutest pirate I ever did see. What time is it? It's one o'clock. When do you
want to fire this trigger up? You tell me. Do you know what you're doing? Yeah, this
should be super, super simple. This is something. There you go, famous last words. This isn't
like one of those things where you have to marinate it. Shall we just put it in and leave
it? Yeah, you just leave it for a couple of hours and it'll cook. Just put a bit of rub
way through and then unwrapping it or saucing it and stuff like that. It should just be
put it on and just leave it for two or three hours. I think it's looking quite good but
it's just taking a lot longer than I thought it would. It's been on for over three hours
now, this chicken. It was supposed to be on three hours tops. Right, after four and
a half hours, the chicken's done. Why don't you use your right leg, June, to kick with?
Hey boys and girls, it's Saturday, Sunday. Sunday. It's Sunday. It's Sunday. Hey, after
it did take me quite a long time to cook the chicken yesterday. It took maybe three hours
longer than I thought it was going to take. I think you got the temperature wrong. That's
because I was cooking it at 100 degrees lower than what it should be set at but I was following
a recipe and I was doing what I was told to do. A good workman doesn't blame his tools.
I'm not blaming the tools, the tools are fine, the tools are absolutely fine. But I was told
to use them in the wrong way. But by the time the chicken was cooked, I wasn't even really
that hungry. No, it got to that point where it was too late. Your hunger sort of goes.
But anyway. But we've got it here, haven't we? We do have it here. It was actually quite
nice in the end. Yeah. Got some leftovers here. But this is where Hellman's comes in
because they got in touch with us about something actually that I thought is really good. So
they've got a new programme that they're doing with Channel 4 and it's called Cook Clever
Waste Less. And you know who's in it? Who's in it? Your friend from the Bake Off, Prue.
Oh, good old Prue. Yeah. We're very close, me and Prue. Yeah, you were always texting
her all the time and stuff, weren't you? Talking about your bacon. I know, I'm surprised she
didn't tell me about it. But yeah, so Hellman's are doing a thing obviously to try and stop
so much food being wasted. And I've got a couple of stats here, let me tell you. Because
some of them are actually a bit like crazy. I know, yeah. And when you were telling me
about them, I was a bit like, because I'm guilty of wasting food. And that's something
I'd like to change, especially after you were telling me about it. You know what they say
in a couple? That there's always the person who won't eat the stuff past the best before
date and then there's the person who just smells it and they're like, I'm that person.
And I'm like, it's fine, but you're quite sort of. So we want to try and waste less.
And when Hellman's got in touch, I was really into this. So check this out, right? 70% of
food waste is produced by households. So it's not like supermarkets. It's not like supermarkets.
70% is from houses. And a UK household wastes on average the equivalent of eight meals a
week. That's crazy. So we've been inspired. So here's what we thought we would do. The
leftover chicken that we cooked on the barbecue yesterday. I got some wraps in the drawer.
Harrison loves her wraps at school. I've got some lettuce. I've got a little avocado and
I've got some potatoes that I didn't use yesterday. So I thought I would make little chicken wraps
today. That'd be great. The thing that I was most interested in, go on. Cause you know,
like it's good to do stuff for the environment and it's good not to waste stuff, but you
save a load of money. Well, yeah, it's that as well. See, I've got to be honest, right?
Cause you, um, cause we gave the dog some and then cause you chopped some bits up and
put it in a box and put it in the fridge last night. Yeah. See how I just wouldn't, I just
would have chopped it. Really? No, see how I would never chuck that to be fair. I would,
I would make like the boys are back at school. So how does no have a little chicken wraps
and I've got baguettes in there. I can make a little crispy baguette one day. No, but
I do like having a bit of elements cause I want to add a little, you know, one of these
to it. Oh yeah, you do do that. See, I just prefer plain mayonnaise. I'm going to have
So let us know if, um, there's anything that you guys do to actually prevent wasting food
because a lot of people, and you know, I see it on like Instagram reels and tech talk and
stuff. There's a lot of like clever people who like press and do this. This was yesterday's
dinner and now I'm doing this for lunch. I'd be genuinely interested if you've got any
suggestions and stuff. If you're like, Oh, I cooked a bit of steak this day and then
this is what I did with it the next day. So if you've got it because I'm a bit useless.
So if you have suggestions, then I'd love to hear them in the comments. Do you know
what? I'm going to have some lettuce. I'm actually not going to do avocado. I'm just
going to do some lettuce and tomato and some mayonnaise. I'm going to make my little mixture.
See, and that's the thing. Go on. We didn't buy this especially. We didn't buy it especially.
It's actually nearly finished. We're genuine. You were a bit like, do we have any hands
with mayonnaise? I was like, yeah, we do. But you know, you know, as at home with the
stuff, please, you know, we, well, we don't really get that many sponsors to start with,
but we only do stuff that we think is a good idea. And I thought this was my sort of one
when I sort of took the lead on this one because I really like this idea. So yeah.
She made a little mayonnaise dip there. I'm going to put that on my rack.
I'm going to have plain.
I bet all the comments will be like, yeah, no, we do that. I think a lot of people do
try and do that, but I think when we, because we were approached by Helman's to do this
and we sat down and actually read about it, it was a bit shocking. Yeah, I felt a bit.
You felt bad? Yeah, I did, yeah.
How is it? That's one of my favourite lunches.
Want a little chicken wrap? Yeah, love it.
I think I'm going to make a potato salad with these potatoes.
All right, guys, made a little potato salad as well, just to go with the wraps.
Have you seen that? There you go.
I love potato salad, actually.
That's good, that. Good job, Claire.
Thanks, James. I aim to please.
Yeah, can you leave it for the wraps? The wraps are over there. You go sit down.
I'll bring it over.
All right, there you go. Nice little lunch made from the leftovers.
That was a nice little lunch.
It's quite pleasant. And do you know what? I feel good about myself.
Because I would have thrown that chicken away and I didn't really eat a lot of it last night.
And that would have been a huge waste.
I'm thinking maybe watch a little film or something, Claire?
Yeah.
Has Harrison finished his wrap?
Yeah, Harrison's had his. He wants some popcorn, so...
Yeah, I'm thinking that we'll watch a little film Sunday afternoon.
And there's a big packet of crisps I want to watch with this film that I don't want to waste.
Thank you to Hellman's for sponsoring this. Appreciate that.
Appreciate what you're doing. Keep up the good work.
We've got some exciting stuff coming up.
We've got a couple of exciting bits and bobs to do, haven't we?
Yeah.
I'm really excited about our little race day.
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about.
What's happening with Covid? You told me today it's all getting pushed back.
I think it might be getting pushed back, yeah.
So June 21st doesn't happen?
Well, hang on. Let's not spread fake news.
Okay.
I've just read that there's a possibility that it will be pushed back from July 21st to June 5th or something like that.
Well, June 5th comes before July 21st, so...
From June 21st to July 5th.
And the problem is, we've got some people who are thinking they're getting married.
Oh, no. That means I'm not going to be able to go.
Oh, no.
Sorry, I couldn't come to your wedding because of Covid.
I would have loved to have just sat through a wedding on a hot summer's day in a suit.
You are so miserable, honestly.
It's one of my best mates as well. I'm not joking. I am looking forward to it.
Have any of you guys had your wedding cancelled because of Covid?
I've got a few people that I know.
It must be so disheartening.
Yeah. Imagine the way we felt at Christmas when we couldn't come to Scotland.
Imagine having that done two or three times for your wedding.
But it also potentially costing you way more money.
Yeah, and having to tell guests.
Oh, God, it must be such a... Yeah, let us know if any of you guys have had that.
If it has happened to you more than once, just take it as a sign.
Don't say that! Don't listen to him.
It's the universe trying to tell you something.
That is a terrible thing to say.
Take that back.
I'll take it back.
Let me know if that's convinced anyone not to get married.
No, there's going to be couples watching this now just going...
It's funny, isn't it? It's ridiculous.
Anyway, I was thinking about maybe going to the pub at the latest.
No? Not allowed? No, all right, fine.
Can't wait for the wedding.
Oh, yeah, right.
What? Are you going to talk about this?
I really like that sort of misogynistic...
Let me finish this sentence before you start.
You know that sort of like,
Oh, yeah, no, she won't let me come to the pub.
I use that all the time.
He does!
We're going to go on a pub crawl.
She's not going to let me go.
All his friends...
I'm on a tight leash, and I don't want to piss her off.
All his friends think I'm an a**hole
because he just can't be bothered going or doing or seeing anybody.
And he blames it on me?
She won't let me.
I asked her.
How many times have I asked you?
Never!
I know.
No, she's giving me that look.
I'd better go indoors.
I'd better put up a shelf or something.
Don't even add to that!
If it's like, we're going to the pub, and it's like,
Yeah, we'll just keep, you know, we'll play a boy,
then we might go to a club afterwards,
I'm like that.
Why are you turning into Dale Boy?
Because I'm just thinking of my mates.
What one?
My mates.
It's a good little one to have.
Listen, lads, I'd love to go.
Honestly.
But I just want an easy life.
It's just a really good way to go.
Kids are good for that.
Can't. Got kids.
Do you want to come to Marbella for my hen do?
Can't. Got kids.
I know, yeah.
My brother got married abroad.
I had to go to that one, obviously,
because she dragged me along.
That was actually a really good week.
My brother and my sister-in-law got married in Italy.
To be fair, it was somewhere I wanted to go.
It was somewhere that I was interested in going.
And it was a really nice week.
It was super hot.
Really hot.
But the food all week.
Oh, the restaurants.
We'd just go to the little Italian restaurant,
and it was fresh.
It was on like a big square.
Yeah, it was really nice.
Anyway, how have we got on to weddings and weddings abroad?
Listen, because last week we walked up a hill,
and we did something.
And I really enjoyed that vlog.
We're back to just being at home and just talking rubbish.
Is this it? Are we done?
So I'll say this.
I'll do an outro now.
If you don't want it, you can just edit it out.
If we end up doing something else.
We'll do another one a little bit later.
Okay.
But we'll just say thank you to Hellmann's
for sponsoring this video.
If you did like this video, give it a thumbs up.
Make sure you're subscribed.
We do want to make more interesting vlogs.
And we're working hard to try and do that.
I hope that's Carl's one.
It's good because we keep going on about that.
Oh, it's going to be great.
It is.
It's going to be great.
Because we're not super crazy about just going to pubs and stuff.
Also, I couldn't vlog in that pub.
I could.
Could you?
Yeah.
But I can't.
I can't go because...
Oh my God.
I'd love to.
But lads, honestly.
I'd be down the pub with you right now.
Getting right on it.
Smashing pints.
Go for it.
Do it.
Get out my hair for a while.
Listen.
You'll be ringing me up.
Where are you?
You wish I was like that.
That's what you want.
I'll have a little think and see if there's something we could do.
I want us to go.
And I know they'll love it.
Is this lighting really bad?
Oh, people don't care.
They're not watching it now.
This is the end.
I want us to go to...
I want to do a little ghost hunting experience.
We've got to get that booked.
We will arrange that.
And we need to think about some fun people to do it with.
Who can we get involved?
Suggie.
Get Jo.
Jo will be up for it.
Get Jo into that.
Well, that's where you and him are playing at the minute, isn't it?
Oh yeah.
Playing a video game about ghost hunters.
Yeah, we should do that.
Get Jo and Diane in.
Yeah.
Guys, you up for that?
Yeah, go and pester Jo and Diane.
Say James and Claire want to go ghost hunting with you.
I'm really pressuring them into committing to doing it.
All right, guys.
Have...
Oh, it's not Sunday for you.
I was going to say have a good rest of your Sunday.
Well, it depends on what day they're watching it.
Maybe Sunday.
This might be five years old when they're watching it.
Oh, Fez, I wonder what's happening.
Is COVID gone yet?
I hope so.
Let us know in the comments if this is five years time
and you're just watching this.
Anyway, we'll see you later.
Stay scummy.
