Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe New York Yankees are struggling offensively in the ALDS, relying almost exclusively on Ben Rice for production. Despite these challenges, there is optimism that the team can avoid a 3-0 deficit by leveraging Max Fried's pitching and making critical lineup adjustments at Yankee Stadium to stay alive in the series.
you will know so much about the Yankees, you'll be able to break down all the news to everyone you know and we do it quick and efficiently so you can get on with your day.
It's New York and we are going to do this thing fast here guys. Diving into the video, there's a lot to look at and the Yankees obviously have struggled mightily in the ALDS when it comes to hitting.
Outside of Ben Rice, literally nobody else has scored runs for the Yankees, the only one with an RBI this entire series and he's got two of them, both solo home runs and outside of Rice, there's been no help
and outside of the Yankees, they've really been unable to do anything but they have Max Freed going out there. Freed is one of the best pitchers in the Yankees, he's one of the best pitchers in the world
and he's a ground out pitcher which obviously in some senses is a good thing to have but also at the same time, when the fielding has been brutal, making changes that they are going to be making makes total sense
and putting Anthony Volpe in this game is something that honestly is the right call for the New York Yankees right now as they desperately need to make some adjustments to this team and where everything is right now guys
and here's the thing, where the Yankees stand, I actually do think they're going to win this game, I do believe the Yankees are not going to go out 3-0, you have Max Freed, you have a lot of hitting that really can bounce back
and the Yankees are very good in Yankee Stadium but real quick, I also do just want to go over one thing with you guys because October Baseball is here and every pitch matters, every matchup gets magnified and everyone has a pick

And guys, here's the thing, we look at the New York Yankees and we look at where they are and it's one of those situations where they're facing a great pitcher in Nick Martinez
Martinez is a contact guy, he's not a big strikeout pitcher and that does give the Yankees some keys to actually winning this game
I mean, overall they need offense beyond Ben Rice regardless, you cannot expect the pitching to be perfect all the time, but freeing the bullpen are going to have to be damn good
While they're going to need cleaner defense and Boone to make better decisions and make them faster, one of those is going to be getting the opportunity to put Anthony Volpe into that game
They really have to be able to do that and if they don't, well then things are going to be problematic because Volpe can play second base and right now Jazz Chisholm cannot
And the Yankees right now, I mean, overall they've obviously, they had a good run of it throughout the season, they were able to beat the Rays a couple times
I mean, in the last series they played, they went 3-1 against them, but now the Yankees need to go 3-0 against them right now if they don't want to get eliminated in the ALDS for the second straight year
Meaning another year of the Aaron Judge era where they are unable to really perform, now they're going to use all the weapons they have
Max Fried starting this game, Carlos Rodon is next in game 4 if they get there and Garrett Cole could be a bullpen option at some point
Even though we have seen Aaron Boone say he never wants it to come to that, Schlutler is going to get game 5 and that means the Yankees would use him in a bullpen if possible
So obviously with an elimination game, there's going to be a checklist of things they're going to have to do
They're going to have to score with the current roster without Aaron Judge and capitalize on opportunities against Nick Martinez
Now, overall, Martinez being a contact pitcher, he's the type of guy who, yeah, it's very tough to really get any massive hits off him
But the Yankees, they have power in these bats, they're going to need to use it against a guy like Martinez who's not there to strike you out
The Yankees are going to be able to have the ball pop off that bat and do what they can do to knock Martinez around
If he's going to give you pitches, the Yankees are going to swing for the fences anyway
Hopefully this is an opportunity where they can barrel the ball, even though Martinez is very good at not letting you do that
He is the starter for this game, he did have a very good season, by far the best season of his MLB career this year, a 3.10 ERA this year
The man was absolutely excellent, that whip is obviously incorrect, but still, overall, we have seen that he has been a very good pitcher this season
And frankly, the Yankees are going to need him to be just not his best self tonight
But here's the thing, this has never been a hitting team, this is a team with the 5th worst batting average in baseball this season
And it's just atrocious that they had a 2.35 batting average this season, but it is what it is
This team is going to win off pitching, they just need to be good enough hitting wise
And that's the question, if they're really going to be able to do so or not
That is where things really come into play
I mean, Ben Rice, yeah, he's been great this postseason, he's 7 for 15, he's got 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and a 1.889 OPS
The man's been insane, but he can't carry a whole offense
Luis Garcia's going to have to hit, I mean, anyone who comes in to pinch hit, Boone's going to have to put them in the right spot so they can get hits
They need their guys to get on base, and that has been this problem for this team for a while now
The problem is, who knows if they can actually pull this off
And they're going to have to make some tough decisions on the lineup because of this
I mean, Volpe, Caballero, and Paul Goldschmidt could all enter the mix
But Goldie's really only someone who plays against lefties, so we should be aware of that
Well, Volpe and Caballero should get on the field
I mean, honestly, I know the lefty-righty thing, but still
The way that Jazz and Ryan McMahon have played, you have to take them out
You have to put Volpe and Caballero in the game at 2nd and 3rd base respectively
It just makes too much sense at this point
You keep Garcia at first, you have Spencer Jones who cares so much and is trying to do whatever he can
But he's been kind of meh in the playoffs so far, he's young, I'm not really concerned
You need Cody Bellinger to start hitting the ball more, it has to happen
He obviously had that great 3-run home run against Boston
But now it's a matter of continuing to hit the ball
But making these changes will change the vibe around the Yankees
And hopefully that little adjustment and being back in the Yankee Stadium where they've been very good can help them
And we actually saw that from today's comment of the day from Randy Thurman
Who did say, play small ball, don't wait for the home run to get on base
To use that speed, yes we can flip this, but it will be tough
As for some players, maybe we should cut them loose
Stanton has been nothing except getting injured every year
Cut them loose, save the money for someone else
I think a lot is going to change in the offseason in Yankee land
Obviously they're going to have to change the way they do things
We know that, shout out to Randy Thurman for the comment
Getting rid of Stanton, it's not happening
They can still afford him, and yeah the lockout is coming
So maybe he won't ever play for the Yankees again
But I don't think the lockout is going to last longer than 2 months
So obviously we'll see what the changes that are going to happen are
After we see how this playoff run ends
But I don't think it ends tonight, I do think the Yankees are going to win
I think this series is going to go back to Tampa
I think the Yankees can win 2 at home
Look, the Rays are better than them clearly, but they're not much better
It's just a matter of can the Yankees hit enough
Can they hit enough
And I mean, they had 2 great games of hitting
There's no reason why they can't find that bat again
You need Garcia to hit, you need Bellinger to hit
You need Ben Rice to be Ben Rice
You just, you need to get some guys on base
Gotta work Martinez around
He can pitch for a while because he's not a strikeout guy
So you gotta make him work
You gotta let him throw those balls in the middle
And you gotta swing and rip them
You're a power team
Contact pitchers are your bread and butter
Let's see what they can do
Guys, let me know what you think in the comments down below
