The NHL will HATE what the Wild are about to do...

The NHL will hate what the Wilds are about to do as a bombshell trade report has just
dropped detailing Philip Gustafson and one Western Conference team interested in acquiring
him with the emergence of Jesper Wahlstedt as a starting goalie.
We're going to be breaking it down, going over a return that has been reported as well
as what this means going forward for the Wilds as folks, this is only the beginning of what
we're about to see surrounding the news of Philip Gustafson.
You guys want to stay up to date with everything going on with this Minnesota Wild team, all
of these reports just like this, trades, reports, rumors, as well as all of your information
surrounding games, be sure to drop us off here on the channel.
We're getting videos out here every single day and help us get to our goal of 6,000 subscribers.
Your guys' support has been absolutely incredible.
I appreciate all you guys for tuning into these videos every single day, but I want
to get into this because Philip Gustafson has been, you know, over the last couple of
months, what it feels like in reports just as much as Jesper Wahlstedt when it comes
down to a trade and very rarely do we see NHL teams keep two elite goaltenders for very
long and it feels like this point right now, the Wilds are at that point in the timeline
and you see this report right here, a trade which sees the Oilers acquiring $34 million
goalie in a blockbuster move and of course, I think we know who that is, Philip Gustafson
to the Oilers is what this has been looking like and this is not the first time we've
seen this in specific.
Now, this first of all does not mean it's happening just yet because Philip Gustafson
still is hurt and I feel like the closer we get to his return, the more likely it is,
but if there's one team that would do this before even knowing that Philip Gustafson
is supposed to be back yet, it is the Oilers and this is the report, Philip Gustafson for
Okay, now this is a deal that I think is very interesting because I wouldn't do it just
yet.
I feel like you want to make sure that Jesper Wahlstedt can keep up with this.
You want to make sure that he can actually go, including playoffs, 60 plus game season.
That is a very important part of something we haven't seen yet from Jesper Wahlstedt.
But Philip Gustafson and his kind of trade value is way too intriguing to kind of look
over this and in this trade, Tristan Jari, you know, it's kind of that's just a replacement
for a goalie.
That's just taking someone in as a backup, even though I think that that would be something
you would see.
I don't think it has that much of a factor, but it's pretty interesting, could make
it to the NHL this year.
But the two things I really like from this are Tommy LaPreniere and a 2028 first round
pick.
Now, obviously, draft picks are perfect for this Minnesota Wild team because there's not
a whole lot that are currently in the bucket.
There's not really a lot.
We're looking at three first round picks, zero seconds, no third of this year, no fourth
next year.
But being able to just keep on getting first round picks or getting a first round pick
in return for this is very useful for a couple of reasons.
One, trade value, you know, if we're going to see the Wild make another trade, you're
going to see it likely be the same.
That could help out or perhaps be Dillon Larkin, that could perhaps help out, you know, really
any other big trade in the NHL right now.
A lot of those will certainly help out making a trade go through.
We're making a trade more likely, I guess, the better way.
But when we're looking at someone like Tommy LaPreniere, third round pick, not a lot is
known about him, 2025 NHL draft, 77 points in 67 games for the Canberra Blazers last
year.
And we saw him last year as well go to Bakersfield for a little bit, but he's going to Western
Michigan this season.
So, you know, you're going to get a lot more experience out of this kid.
And I think it is something that for a 19 year old could really be just another name
to add into the pool of prospects that the Wild have that, you know, can be developed
in-house, can have a legit opportunity to be a star with this team.
And of course, I think he's not there just yet, but he is that player that has that potential
to be a higher level, a higher level player.
So the trade itself, I don't mind it whatsoever.
I know there's going to be a lot of competition likely for Phillip Gustafson, which is another
reason as to why I would just wait a little bit longer.
But the main thing is this gives Wallstead, you know, what he wants.
Looking at what we saw him do this season so far, a 101 goals against a 957 save percentage
last eight regular season games have been fantastic, very good in the playoffs last
year, and he wants to be that guy.
He wants to be the guy that the Wild can rely on and, you know, we've seen him in a lot
of trade reports and a lot of trade rumors.
It just, to me, doesn't seem at all like a smart move to make.
You've been looking for a goalie like Wallstead for years and right now you have that guy.
This is the first time we're actually seeing he is 23 years old and he's already as good
as he is.
You know, they don't come every day, a goalie like this, I feel like getting rid of him
would just be detrimental for the Wild right now, you know, no matter who you have in net
afterwards.
So giving Wallstead that opportunity but also making sure that he's capable of playing that
I think is going to be a very big thing to consider when looking at, you know, the bigger
extent of this over the next couple of weeks and months until close to the beginning of
November when we're slated to see Philip Gustafson return.
The big thing about Gustafson as well is he is on the first year of his new deal at $6.8
million AAB and getting rid of that contract, although it's not a bad one whatsoever, but
if you're splitting time as a goaltender and you're seeing perhaps what Jesper Wallsted
actually may take over the net as the number one goaltender and you're playing, you know,
a third of the games, but probably closer to half, but as low as one third of the games
for $7 million, you know, that's not exactly feasible.
And moving this contract, like I said, is not too difficult.
The Oilers could take it on, there's a lot of teams that could take it on because of
how good it is and Philip Gustafson is 28 years old, you know, he's the guy that you
would have for quite some time.
So that's also a big reason to, you know, point out with why the Wild may not be scared
to trade him in a couple of years' time, in this year's time, and he does have a no-move
clause in the first two years and a modified no-trade in the next three years, but we said
it this summer, if Philip Gustafson is not playing, he'll wave it really to a majority
of places in my mind that, you know, he would get an opportunity to be that starter.
So there's a lot of things to consider about this.
It's not as easy as just saying, yes, the deal is done.
But like Bill Guerin has said, you know, if nobody's untouchable, it's going to be a lot
of things to consider, and especially on the goaltending, I think that is the biggest thing
to consider.
But on top of that, bringing up $6.8 million for Jesper Wallsted, who is in the final year
of the deal at $2.2 million, going to be an RFA, he's a guy that right now is probably
flying under the radar as a free agent.
We saw Bill Guerin talk about that on the broadcast last night.
You know, he's going to get a big contract with this Wild.
He's a guy that wants to stay here.
We know how good he is.
And given the two options between a bridge deal and a long-term, five to two years, once
again, seven years is now the maximum, we don't really know how drastically the goalie
market has changed compared to the player market.
So, you know, five by 7.2 right now, I'm signing that dotted line as soon as possible,
but that number could very well jump up to $10 million.
So that is something we're going to have to keep a very close eye on as well, folks.
But let me know what you think about this deal in specific.
Do you like it?
Would you do it?
Would you wait a little bit?
Do you want to see another team?
But I got to say, one thing, Wild having Jesper Wallsted as a starting goalie, teams don't
want to see that.
They want to have some, you know, some discrepancy between the netmines.
Sending a good goalie to the Oilers may not help out the Wild, and the rest of the NHL
is going to hate it, but if they can give up a lot, and you know, there could very well
be a bidding war, it makes a lot of sense.
So, you know, a trade that could really help out these two teams, but hurt all the other
30 in the NHL, give me your thoughts on this down below, folks, and a lot more videos are
