Friedman Just Revealed What's Next for Quinn Hughes...
Sep 7, 2026
Elliott Friedman has spoken out on the NHL Network surrounding Quinn Hughes and new information
on his contract with one bold statement, which has Wild fans in a bit of a predicament.
We're going to be breaking it down, going over what this means, not just for the Minnesota
Wild, but also how Quinn Hughes has all the say in this with a lot of things on the picture
and this final year of his deal being one of the most important seasons in Minnesota
Wild history.
Folks, we're going to be breaking it all down here in this video.
Before we do get into it, if you haven't already, be sure to drop a sub on the channel.
We have a lot of stuff coming this season.
I know we took a week off, appreciate your guys' support throughout that, the patience,
but we're back.
We have a lot of stuff coming and the season is just around the corner, but more importantly,
I think the biggest part of this season for the Wild is right now.
We're going to be touching on everything over these next couple of days.
More information is going to come out and as Elliott Freedman said, things are getting
started, so be sure to drop a sub here on the channel.
I first want to go over Elliott Freedman's books and you see this right here from him.
I don't think Quinn Hughes wants a long-term deal in Minnesota.
This is the big part.
I think we all knew this, but still people keep on taking this with, you know, a massive,
massive implications on this contract won't happen, but folks, we've known this for a
long time and I do think the Wild and Hughes are going to be meeting soon to start heading
this out, where they are and where they're going.
This was the first real bit of confirmation from Bill, uh, excuse me, Elliott Freedman
surrounding the meetings between Bill Guerin, the Wild and Quinn Hughes and his agent surrounding,
uh, you know, the future of this deal.
We've seen from Bill Guerin that they have been meeting constantly, that what Elliott
Freedman has said prior to this and, you know, the past couple of weeks, I've really been
false that it's just a kind of a media narrative, but it seems like now, and we are seeing this
a lot more than the past couple of weeks and months is that this is really starting to
get underway, especially now that a lot of deals have already taken place this off season.
We're getting a lot of new, uh, contracts for, you know, McCarr or Matt Cancellabrini
and unfortunately for the Wild, all of that has going to be having an impact on Quinn
Hughes and the price he is going to pay and you see this here from Elliott Freedman.
I think, you know, once again, the most obvious part of this is that I think the thing that
helps Minnesota is I'm not convinced once again, just genuinely ridiculous that people
are using this as an excuse to say something is not coming.
I could be very wrong, but I think we all know the situation with Jack having a few
more years to go, four more years to go in that case exactly and Quinn Hughes having
one year and then signing.
I think that's what everybody is expecting at this point, but Bill Guerin is going to
do what he's going to make things easy for the team, easy for the player.
He's going to do his best to make things work out for the Wild as best as they can,
whether that is a three year deal, a five year deal, an eight year deal, which only
has nine days left for something like that to happen.
There's a lot of conversations that are going to be had, but Elliott Freedman, once
again, still putting out the most obvious statements of all time.
And like we saw with Quinn Hughes' contract here, I know this is year one of one.
This is just something on our back end, which is causing a few issues here.
But on a seven point eight million dollar deal, you know he's going to be getting
paid more. He's still on that this year.
And there's a lot of things that people are still worried about that, not thinking he
could play this year. He will be playing this year for the Wild.
That is, you know, no doubt about it.
But whether or not we may see him play the whole season, I guess is a big question as
to whether or not he signs a deal.
And Bill Guerin spoke a little about that on a radio show, knowing that whatever
happens, they're going to work around, they're going to do what's ever the best for
the organization. And what's best for the organization still, Quinn Hughes being on
this roster and especially looking at where things have gone over the past couple of
months. You look at this right here, look at the projection from AFP Analytics on
Quinn Hughes. This is a broken record at this point.
If you guys have been watching all offseason long, you know, I've pretty much said
eight years by 15 million.
Just about every video we spoke about Quinn Hughes, that's no longer going to be the
case. There was a slim, very, very slim chance that would have been the case prior
to Dale McCurr, prior to Max Delebrini, to
Leo Carlson, Connor Bedard, all of that would have had a different impact than the
way it had, had the Wilds signed him earlier.
But with all of this being said, there is still a lot of big things pending over the
coming days between how things are going to work out, what the Wilder people are doing
and really what Quinn Hughes wants, because as Bill Guerin has said, Quinn may want
different things. You know, there's nothing, anything, there's nothing anybody knows
more than Quinn Hughes himself.
And Bill Guerin said this straight up on the radio show from K-Fan a couple of days
ago, Quinn might be after different things.
He's got a different thing in life that, you know, are important to him.
Who knows what he's going to want in the end.
But when we're looking at a three year deal, which, you know, seems to be the case
that everybody thinks that makes the most sense for Quinn Hughes, if the ultimate goal
is still to play with Jack, nobody knows except him.
I think that's one thing that Bill Guerin is trying to reiterate to just about all Wild
fans that, you know, there's no reason, there's no reason to, you know, stress out about
any of this at all.
And you see from here as well, the question that being asked to Bill Guerin was, you know,
would he resign as GM if they're unable to get a contract extension with Quinn?
Obviously, we established that already, I believe his last video.
This was all kind of just back and forth shenanigans between the two.
But when Guerin, you know, answered, I said, you can't, when he was told that he couldn't
trade Quinn Hughes, you can't trade Quinn, he says, I can do whatever I want.
So that right there, I think, really gives us what the thoughts are of Bill Guerin and
just about every other kind of situation this team has gone through over the past couple
of weeks. But we got this here as well from Michael Amato.
This was regarding the Sportsnet article, which all had the Elliott Friedman side of
things. There also is no rule that says Hughes and the Wild can't agree to an extension in
November or December for Quinn.
Not making a rational decision now gives Hughes more time to negotiate, it would be a
little unusual for Bill Guerin and company to start the season without this resolve,
but coming out of it in a good position is.
So let's just say, you know, we see some discussions, some conversations going over the
couple of next weeks and it does go into the season.
I still think there's no need to worry about it.
We've seen big extensions in the season before.
And obviously, I think if you're not on the business side of it, if you're on the side of
it, of us just watching these games, watching these players, watching this team, you want
to have it done as soon as possible.
But business stuff can take time.
I think Michael Amato really puts it into perspective that it's not like if he's not
signed in two to three weeks time, he's done.
You got a full season left until next July 1st to go ahead and sign.
So, folks, I wanted to get your opinion on that because Elliott Friedman has once again
spoken out. He's been wrong about this before.
And I think that's something that everybody's realizing at this point.
But the more he's saying now, the more stuff that comes out, it's seeming more realistic
and more actually being the case than what we've seen in the past.
So give me your thoughts on this.
Really, when we do look at the death chart here from the Minnesota Wild and look at how
these things are playing out, obviously Quinn Hughes is someone that you need to have on
your left defense. Or if you get rid of him, you need to replace him with a big, big name
and I feel like seeing Z-Boy and get that extension in Vancouver really shows what
importance this has to the Wilds on another scale.
So, folks, give me your thoughts on this down below.
Obviously, a lot of things are still going to continue to come out over the next days
and weeks. We're going to have it all right here on the channel every single day.
So be sure to drop a sub here if you haven't already.
You want to stay up to date with everything going on with the Minnesota Wilds.
Like I said, that's all I got.
Thank you for watching. Hope you have a great day.
