Welcome to the first video in this podcast series on Mindfulness. We will explore the 5 Hindrances from Zen Buddhism and how they block you from practicing mindfulness or any other practice you may wish to undertake. You can repeat this video as many times as you need to until the next video is released.

I will also share with you a seated Qigong series that can be helpful in keeping your mind focused and in the present moment. This was first produced as a 30 day challenge but now I will present you with one video a week until the full 30 videos are complete.

if you comment under the video, I will respond with thoughtful feedback:

What Is Sensual Desire? Hi, and welcome to Day 1 of your mindfulness and tai chi journey.
In this video, we will explore sensual desire—not just in a dramatic sense, but in the subtle ways we want the moment to be different. More comfortable, more interesting, more pleasurable. It’s a form of grasping.

In Tai Chi and Qigong, this might show up as wanting to feel graceful… or wanting to “get it right.”

We might wish the body felt looser, or the breath deeper, or the movement more fluid.
Desire pulls us out of the present—it says, “This moment isn’t enough.”

The irony? Real ease only comes when we’re not chasing it.

So today, we’re just going to notice desire.
Not shame it.
Not get rid of it. Just see it for what it is.

That’s the practice for today: be curious about when desire arises.
Let yourself stay with what is, not what you think it should be.
I’ll see you very soon for the next module.
