Mavericks Make MULTIPLE Moves... This is HUGE
1 Video View·Oct 15, 2026
Video Summary
AI GeneratedThe Dallas Mavericks have engaged in a series of rapid roster moves, signing and waiving multiple players. This strategy, led by Masai Ujiri, is designed to incentivize prospects to join the Texas Legends (G League affiliate) via bonuses while maintaining a pipeline of talent for the main roster.
As the videos go over today,
the Dallas Mavericks have made multiple moves.
And one of the more interesting days in recent memory,
Masai Ujiri got very active, making over three signings.
We're going to break down the moves
to discuss the craziness that happened today,
as well as a ton of other updates, including some notes surrounding
Rez Johnson Jr., Dusty May, and more.
But before we get into it all,
a very quick reminder to hit that subscribe button.
You guys are in peace with support.
Jays, we have a lot to discuss today, and it was a very weird day.
If you were keeping up with Mavs Twitter and just Mavs in general,
If you weren't, we'll cover you now.
Moves happened.
They signed a guy, then they waived him.
They signed him, they waived him.
A lot of people are wondering why on earth that's happening.
We will break it all down, but they have made multiple roster moves,
and let's dive into it right here.
So they initially, earlier today, signed Matt Cross.
People started talking about it, and then they said,
okay, that's very interesting.
Then they waived Matt Cross, and they signed Darren Green Jr.
And we're like, okay, what's going on now?
They then waived Darren Green Jr. and signed Chris Mannett.
So all of this is happening.
They made a bunch of moves, a bunch of signings,
And we'll preface it now, the reason they're
doing all this, for those unfamiliar, you
also, by signing them and then waiving them,
these players, these prospects now are going
to be signing with the Mavs G League team.
And because they signed and then waived,
they get a bonus when joining the G League team.
So because it happened in succession here,
all these guys will be signing, we presume
at least, with the G League affiliate,
which now, again, a prospect isn't really a term
you hear used in the NBA much, but Jason,
now you have a bunch of prospects that you
gave incentives to essentially to actually join
the Legends, you got the Texas Legends, you give
you give them now more money
and you have a bunch of interesting names that could be competing in
training camp for a spot and it's a ten contract
a two-way contract i'm a very big fan and this is
a classic kind of new to us having a competent GM like Masai Ujiri, well
and it's exactly what Masai
did with the Raptors right i mean we kind
of mentioned he the way he ran things in Toronto
is very similar to the way he's kind of running things here
in Dallas and so you're going to get
all these guys like you said you don't guarantee you have
the rights in a lot of ways but what you
do is incentivize them to sign back
with the Texas Legends stay on that G League and like you said
become that prospect they want
so um not to mention we talked about three moves they also
then literally 10 minutes ago waived Chris Mantas
and signed Diaz Graham now Diaz Graham actually
has a number which is kind of why i feel like we're going
to make the video now because usually
when that happens means he's probably gonna
be the guy that stays on the roster at least for the
next couple days obviously they're still gonna
have roster cut downs and that of course is gonna
affect Dwight Powell which we'll have a video on later
but it's good to see like you said a
competent GM knowing what he's doing
and putting some effective moves and I would almost call them
like sneaky moves in some ways that could help us later
on in the season yeah and we're having
each of them now because all of them
are in the Mavericks pipeline still and there is one more
notable than the rest before we do a quick note
from our sponsor Anthem Mobile, old throws
a great outfit off fast an old beat-up belt
that just doesn't fit right most guys are still wearing
belts with stretched out holes that either pinch your waist
or sag and throw off your entire look
and that's why I'm excited to have Anson Belt
and Buckle as the sponsor of today's video.
And instead of holes, Anson uses
a micro-adjustable track system with quarter-inch increments,
so your belt fits perfectly every single time.
You can see the belt here. The quality is amazing.
My favorite part is the buckle.
It is truly one of a kind, and once you experience that kind of
fit and comfort, you'll never want to go back
to wearing a regular belt again. I've been wearing
mine nonstop, and it's the best I've ever owned.
And if you're wondering why you should trust them,
This is a company that's still proudly family-owned and operated,
has earned over 40,000 five-star
reviews.
I found one talking about how it was amazing for gifting,
and the packaging is just incredible.
I agree.
The package is put together great,
amazing for gifting, and they back their belts with
a lifetime guarantee on functionality,
so they stand behind every product they make.
Also, because Anson Belt and Buckle is sponsoring today's video,

and upgrade your belt game today thank you once again
to anson for sponsoring this video
so let's dive into them now a little bit we'll start with green
because green's actually been around for a little
bit i think it was summer league perhaps but you
can see here yeah in summer league before games
with the mavericks i believe it was affiliate 15
points two rebounds two assists on fire from three
so Darren Green's a name and as we kind of go
through these they'll obviously be kind
of different guys people were really excited about
Matt Cross I'm not specifically excited for one more than the other
but it is interesting to see
now as you start to look at you know let's look
at Darren Green here a really really good shooter
you have Matt Cross as well who you know not really anything else
but a shooter as well these
are going to be names that we have to keep
an eye out on and i actually am very interested in
Darren Green and i think he has a decent chance
or probably the best chance out of all these guys
to actually potentially make an impact on the NBA team at some point
but jace is there anyone who
kind of stands out to you more than the rest
when we kind of talk about um the Texas Legends now
we're going to be keeping an eye out on you know
the entire year with the G League and seeing how
things go with obviously the contracts
and the rules the specific rules with the contracts and
whether they go Exhibit 10
or whatever i think the roster strategy here is pretty smart and now
it's created a very very nice route to go
to the Texas Legends any one of these guys kind of stand
out to you ahead of some of the other ones i like
Darren Green i think obviously getting to see him
in the summer league was great and you know
the four games him averaging over 15 points per game
is something but Cross is a guy that it seems like
the Mavericks do like because he is somebody who
has already been in the organization as he
was with the Texas Legends last offseason so um you
know six points per game but the six rebounds per game
also kind of pops in he almost is a guy who
if he could just take the ball
and shoot more often it would work out because his field goal
percentage is 50 from uh from 50
and then 41 from threes like the percentages are there but it's
kind of an interesting way that he plays the game
which i think is part of the reason why he's on
the Texas Legends and not exactly on the you know
on the Dallas Mavericks but all these guys really
do have kind of like the the i always like to say
with prospects it really does matter about one
specific thing you do right and if you can have
one specific thing you do right then guess what
they're going to take the chance on you
so i am interested in seeing what Chris Mendes has because
he's a guy who really hasn't been in this organization
and the stats just don't intrigue
me really that much was 10 games last year
for the Capital City Go-Go in 4.9 points per game
1.7 rebounds per game the percentages weren't great
so i am a little you know he's probably
the one that i'm least excited for but obviously
with this there's a lot of different things that
kind of go into making all of these signings
and kind of why we're going to see you know certain
guys and certain you know contracts being given out yeah
and obviously again with the Exhibit 10
contract you look at some of them here uh
the affiliate player rules there's a lot of weird rules
that are kind of going on now a new G League rule
as well up to five affiliate player designations
waived players can join the team and they remain NBA free agents
so if an NBA team wants to come
snag them they can like anything um but the final guy i want
to touch on here uh Chris Mendes i'm
not super super excited about
but Diaz Graham stats aren't crazy but keep in mind with him
you mentioned he has a number this could change
like it's still kind of ongoing but this was in
college as opposed to the G League clearly
and i have faith in Mike Schmitz who's known as a you
know well well-renowned i want
to call him prospect prospect guy scouting guy who has got a lot of
drafts right and was at least you know attributed
to a lot of draft success throughout his um you
time as a writer and analyst it seems now throughout all
these moves they're sticking
with Diaz Graham I'm just more excited
to see more internal competition and I know a lot of
people are going crazy because why they're signing
so many guys I'm they're sticking with it seems
Graham for now I'm more excited to kind
of see what happens with the rest so let us know down
below it's been an absolutely crazy crazy day
and um yeah let me know your favorite one out
of these players we'll keep you up to date thank you guys for watching
