Trish.
Sorry, Ricardo Ferreira is in custody this evening.
At one point earlier today, authorities put out an alert saying
that he was still wanted and to be considered armed and dangerous.
Then around noon today, we found out from authorities that he had
been taken into custody in Vineland about 10 miles from here.
Witnesses were inside the home during all this,
told police that Ferreira
and his girlfriend had been arguing just before the shooting happened.
This is 32-year-old Ricardo Ferreira,
now accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend,
30-year-old Christina Cruz, early this morning in Franklinville.
Franklin Township Police responded to the home
in the 1200 block of Portstown Road around 1230 this morning.
According to the Gloucester County Prosecutor,
there were several other people in the home at the time.
One witness said Ferreira
and Cruz had been arguing about two hours before the shooting.
That witness was upstairs with three children and told police she.
She heard gunshots and came downstairs to find
the victim injured in the living room.
She told police Ferreira drove away from the scene after the shooting.
A second witness told police he was in a first floor bedroom
when he heard arguing and then two gunshots.
Investigators stayed on scene for hours examining the home.
Chopper 6 was overhead as they worked.
This is very quiet out here.
The man who lives next door said detectives asked to review
his home surveillance video as part of the investigation.
The detective asked me, you know, the ring cameras, and do I have it?
And I said, yeah.
And he said, could I see your phone?
So I set my phone up for the ring,
and he went through it, and said, you know, nothing
was there, and he handed it back to me.
But I knew that because I looked at it earlier.
Ferreira is charged with homicide and weapons charges
and he will be held in the Salem County
Jail. No word yet on a motive.
Now, local police confirmed to us that Ferreira had just served time
in prison for a shooting in Atlantic City
that left two men injured. He was out on parole.
