It's Go Time for the Sixers...

Happy media day everybody. I love this. We've got quotes on quotes on quotes to break down We got to talk about seeing everything like LeBron's Actually in a Sixers uniform that is not some wacky Photoshop job that the Avengers have been assembled. They're shining the bat signal I'm pumped up. What's going on? Everybody Christian Pedersen back with another episode of Sixers digest the show where Sean and I bring you guys daily content covering all things Sixers and be gone with you offseason Thanks for everyone that stuck around through all of that not that it was all like nothing the first half was craziness But now we get to see that craziness all in the building and get to really discussing Real like this season type of basketball We're gonna get to a bunch of quotes from guys that you know It's media day and sometimes some of this comes across as like oh stoked to be here and all that But I think there's a few real key nuggets in all of this that will give us some really good takeaways of like where the team's mindset is at and I think that that's really more important this year than ever before given that Sacrifice and chemistry and how this all gonna work together It seems to be that and Joelle and beads health which we'll get to that in just a second Also seems to be the national narrative of like how can this team work this many superstars? All they gotta all play basketball You know when that's the only knock Did anybody outside of Philly can come up with for this squad? I think then it becomes infinitely important and interesting to hear from the guys Actually a media day is a experience where we hear from everybody We're gonna even get to some quotes from my boy a dem Bona before that though I want to get to a Joelle and bead health update that he apparently is looking skinny and healthy and that he has dropped a considerable amount of weight and I You know, I don't want to say because then I'd have to be knocking on wood person like Oh him dropping this weight guarantees his health is going to be better this season than ever before but I would be curious to just ask the question out loud of You know like a guy in his position having to be under the basket going to war all the time Sometimes do you feel like you need to bulk up in order to survive the physicality of the season? But if you are going into a season where you have some perceived Maybe there's a little bit less of the weight of the world on your shoulders Metaphorically means you maybe need a little bit less weight on your shoulders physically And if the team is talking about playing up tempo and yada yada yada and making I'm making too much out of this But I would also be curious if there isn't an overall effort of hey and bead slim down trim down Let's play a little bit different style of basketball because we don't I again I don't want to say that we don't need him But the need for him bead to be a bead is not as Singular in nature to the team's success as it has been in the last couple of seasons So, you know drawing all those pieces together It does seem like that is a fantastically positive thing to see it is also positive to see that We are the third highest team on the calcium markets favored to be the NBA champions and as always Thank you very much to calcium for sponsoring this video if you use the code digest NBA when you are signing up They will hook you up with $55 when you trade your first $25 in options. Okay, let's run through Maybe not every single quote, but I will quote y'all into oblivion between now and the end of this episode LeBron James quotes first that you have to Comfortable with being uncomfortable if you don't do that, then we'll be like that. It's got a great team on paper I don't want to do that. I don't want to I did not leave my family to lose in the second round I know that Comfortable being uncomfortable might be the team's motto and again that to me immediately jumps to the the whole storyline of Sacrifice who's gonna who's gonna step back who's gonna step up and all that and you know new roles, etc Etc, etc. And then on top of that being away from his family I think you could say well is you know sons are growing up empty nesters and all that but LeBron is a Extremely family-centric man and Could have stayed in LA or could have gone somewhere to take the gang with him to Manhattan or to Cleveland cuz that's home kind of family No, he chose us and this is a business decision where he's here Like he said not here to lose in the second round So get lip service to a degree sure But at the same time I absolutely dig the mentality again talking about the sacrifice and all that Jalen Brown Somewhat dismissed it and said next question when asked about who was gonna be the alpha on this team my takeaway from that is He's just not interested in answering it. Not that there's some underlying issue there I think that it's just these guys don't Don't want to even they don't want to give power to that premise and that they are all dudes who have a Bigger understanding of the picture going on right now than the need to be like Oh, this is my team or this is so-and-so's team. Yada. Yada. Yada Yeah, sorry running through a bunch of these here, but we got a lot to talk about Jumping over to Anthony Simons was asked a question about LeBaron filing. He is good. He's good for sure. He's got ball handling Scoring feel for the game says he needs to be prepared for an opportunity to come his way He's going to be a great player in this league for sure. I think that Anthony side again, you could ask LeBron about him and LeBron is gonna give you some good generic quote But Anthony Simons chiming in here These are going to be guys that will potentially be running sets together Coming off of the bench and kind of needing to actually work Greater minutes together than some of the other combos of players So to have that assessment from Simons that LeBaron filing is going to be a great player in this league for sure. I absolutely dig it going on On Jalen Brown, he's easily a top two-way guy in the NBA Sean had done a video about the rankings of where everyone's at. I don't know just it's the crossover here of it not being You know, Anthony Simons is new to the squad Jalen Brown is new to the squad but they didn't come over together in a deal like that these are guys that have seen each other across the court from afar never Played together and so to have the high praise for one another again Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill here But it feels like the team vibes and chemistry are really good a damn boner I told you we would hear from him at one point in this saying the treatment is going very well He's feeling good. His boo-boo is feeling a little bit better I don't think that this is going to it's a it's a mild foot sprain and obviously For this show cannon. I am the biggest a damn bonus Stan on YouTube, but in reality I do think that this is something that was just a mild Foot thing in the offseason and he seems like he is going to be healthy jumping over to Dean Wade He is a crazy excited to be here He's talking about Mike Gansi and then he said quote I was overlooked by a lot of people and I don't think Mike was one of the people that overlooked him That's I just it goes to me an interesting way of commenting and complimenting how One of the things that Mike Gansi was very big on when he first got here was going to get his dudes and his guys And his vision and he could have very easily shown up and taken the first year to be like look We've got some contracts. We're a little bit stuck under and you know need to phase out the process We're gonna make some small moves But instead he went big and he went dramatic and he did his thing and so to go get his guy and it feels like The right pieces right place right time and that adding Dean Wade is a big part of that He talked about it Talked about his defensive growth Was asked about his position Bigger wings forwards bigger wings and forwards are definitely where I hang my hat definitely more comfortable guarding bigger wings and forward So we know that he's capable of saying that bigger wings and forwards three times in two and a half sentences But I think that that goes just you know We have plenty of questions about the defense this season in terms of who's going to be assigned What role and to know that Dean Wade is gonna be the guy that's not good He's gonna be taking on the assignments that are one step below the people in the paint I think is Going to keep being infinitely more and more valuable as the season goes on Let's hear from VJ edge comb. He talked about I thought this was kind of funny About how he feels like he wanted to take credit for initiating the group chat of the perceived starters That he had to get Tyrese maxi to do it because because VJ is not famous enough and big enough to have bronze number but I think that this goes to VJ's sort of fearless nature and his enthusiasm for accepting his role as an up-and-coming star because I Mean, that's a it's kind of bold to be like, yeah I'm a starter and we're so we're gonna Even for as good as he is just to assume that in year two You're gonna be is starting with this kind of talent all on the court But also be to just be like a look bad have the little bit of the self-effacing is back I don't have bronze number, but I still wanted to initiate all this you just you got to respect the dudes confidence in going through this kind of a Moment in his in his career his role that he talked about is just gonna be himself going out there being aggressive playing defense Whatever I need to do. I'm going to do it can potentially fall under the oh, it's hyper generic quotable, but The the just be his self feels like a little bit of that free-form jazz that we're gonna need to be because I have talked about how I think that VJ Is gonna be a guy who's gonna get a bunch of game on the line last shot type of opportunities but he's also gonna need to have some games where he steps back and just You know waits for being that spark plug Sometimes it's gonna be like there's gonna be his shifting up and down gears Excessively this season for him until there's a really specific Routine and rhythm developed and to just know that he's ready to accept that after being the main guy for that first year One of the main guys is it's good to hear Finally, let's close it out with some Tyrese maxi quotes and then thank you everybody for sticking around as I Shotgun blasted you in the face with all Quote from Maxie I think that the opportunity that this roster presents the player to play off the ball a little bit more for me to play off The ball get some catching shoots get some handoffs. I think it'll be good for our team Again, this is this is not Nick nurse and Mike Gancy Addressing general concepts of what they want to do with the team this is one of the guys who was a main reason for signing LeBron and could very easily go out there and be like Hey, man, I'm excited to have the team run through me and not saying that Tyrese is a egomaniac In any slide he hasn't demonstrated in that past But he could very easily feel a you know A little pep in his step of feeling man. Look I kind of low-key help put all this together And now he's instead saying look now I'm gonna do some catching shoots I'm gonna do something a little bit different than I have in the last couple years, but I'm excited for it So I think obviously I'm gonna give the gang a 10 out of 10 on vibes But as objective as I can try to be today I feel like media day presented us with a lot of good enthusiasm a lot of good perspective and a lot of good vibes I hope you guys enjoyed all the vibes go Sixers Oh black uniforms are back to nothing But good today. Sorry about burying the lead on that one until the very end Thank you again for tuning in like subscribe share comment follow all those other buds until next time. We'll talk to you guys soon
