The Sixers Make a Big Roster Move...
Oct 18, 2026
The Sixers have made their final decision on a two-way contract,
and I hope you like Taco Tuesdays,
because that's not just a LeBron reference now.
What's going on, everybody?
Christian Pedersen back with another episode of Sixers Digest,
the show that is ready to put the preseason behind us
and finally get to this year.
I am absolutely pumped.
Even with injuries and the little bumps and bruises along the way
that have come from this preseason training camp,
I'm still really, really excited.
And if you want to follow along,
Sean and I got daily content for you all season, so like,

that I'm always supposed to tell you to press.
Taco Tuesdays, it is official.
Taco Fall is getting the last of the two-way contracts for the Sixers
this season, and I am infinitely curious to hear from you guys.
we're going to get to some of the general feedback
from the public not that it entirely matters but
it's just interesting to see the take
on this as the Sixers apparent you know need for a center
for front court for depth for rebounding for all of that comes front
and center on this last
decision feels somewhat like their hand was forced given
the Ariel Huckporty injury but yeah it's
official uh we got Ryan Rupaire Caleb Love Taco Fall as the final
or as the three two-way contracts
now i will be infinitely curious how quickly we get
to see Taco Fall given that he has missed this
entire preseason with a hip injury and is somebody
who i i can't imagine is gonna get thrown just
immediately into the deep end
of like hey you didn't have any preseason time to really get
with us but we need a backup center
and and bead is taken tomorrow night off so go out there and
do it i think that that means we will probably
see some other options we'll get to Adem Bona's
health in just a minute
the other corresponding moves Jameer Nelson Dylan Jones Tay Fields
Chris Carroll have all been waived
and will likely head on to Delaware to start the season
with Blue Coats and uh you know what i have loved
to have seen Jameer Nelson get that last two-way
spot you know in the conversation for it
um but nonetheless they go with Taco Fall now i'll remind
everybody that even with these decisions we
are still heavily favored on the Kalshi markets to be
one of the top NBA teams this season
and thank you as always to Kalshi for sponsoring this video
if you would like to sign up using
the code digest nba kalshi will hook you guys up with
55 when you trade your first 25 options okay
the response from the public seems to largely and i i
get this is not entirely uh twitter is twitter
and it's not it really has no impact but huge
waste of resources talking about the general decision
to sign taco fall and to spin that
last spot on him as opposed to somebody
who can be more of an offensive option it is i think
incredibly apparent that this is a a combination
of having their hand forced by the huck party
injury and to a degree the bona injury
but also their financial resources being
limited if you will by the different aprons i think it'll
be really interesting now a couple
of things to watch in all
of this being like i said how quickly does taco fall recover from his
hip injury and get actually placed
into the rotation obviously with the two-way contract
you have a max number of games that you can be up
on the squad for this season it feels like this
could go one of two ways
and they just um they spend it early to have a have a big guy there
and then around december mid-ish to late december it seems like that's
when veteran minimum pro
rated contract uh michigas can kind of pop up
and be like okay now there's a little bit of room
to make a move or is taco fall just the only available big man
and he's recovering from
something so they're just gonna have
to play some small ball the adem bona recovery seems to be
going well the quote from Nick Nurse being
that he's moving pretty well uh he tends to do that
when he's got some time off he looks extra bouncy
when he's got some time off so i think that's
showed up as well but i think again it's
not completely pain-free yet getting closer i think
we're just making sure so um his foot sprain you know
not uh getting closer just making sure is not
a hyper specific medical analysis of being like okay yeah we
are three days away or two weeks or
whatever from specifically seeing Adem Bona
but to me if he is somebody who is in the gym
it's not a break it's not a tear it's just a sprain
and if he's in the gym practicing and
looking good i would assume given we have
a couple more days until this season starts
that he's probably not going
to be like immediately available unless they need him
but might or might like i would assume he'll be active
but that they're not dying to go to him
and and re-aggravate that early out
the gates we're probably going to see some of the other
options at center plus hoping that you know Embiid can carry
a bit of the weight early on but then
that's where i will get super curious
as to what Nick Nurse does we've talked about the desire
to use the depth that he has right now to get
a little bit more into his bag get a little bit
more creative and that he's talked about how
in the past couple seasons he's just not been able
to implement stuff that he wants to be able
to implement he's just got limited roster and health
options right now we are teetering i think back onto
that and there is a lot of backcourt depth
there's just not a lot of frontcourt depth
so does Nick Nurse get crazy with it and do all sorts of
defensive rotations and stuff that make you go kind
of like whoa like he's really like going
nuts or does Nick Nurse just say look we're going
to dial up some offense and i'm going to focus on
that and yeah the first 10 games anyway we're still figuring all
of this out so we're not going
to worry about the center position for a minute
because you know in i would assume by game five
that Adem Bona is fully back activated
and then maybe we do see Taco Fall brought up a little bit
and they make a decision come december to really commit
to like okay we're going to shuttle Taco
up and down for that third spot as the third string center
or we're going to actually just
go out and make a move it's a tough spot to be in and i
am glad that it's the spot of the backup
center and something where it's like technically we have
the best center ever or generationally
available right now the healthy knock on wood
but good to go in Embiid and so it's not like we don't
have a five of our starting five it's just
and you know Embiid can't play every minute every game
all season long even if he was healthy
and not historically injured like he just it would be
unrealistic to ask anybody to do that so gonna
be really interesting to watch between now and the
start of the season slash first couple weeks
of the season exactly what this health situation is
and how quickly we see Taco activated
or if he is just on that two-way contract as a backup sort of
just-in-case emergency option kind of vibes.
I think Mike Ganci, having spent some time with Taco in Cleveland,
probably checks the boxes in addition of the financials
and availability.
It also just has some degree of familiarity and comfort with him.
And that's probably why he went out
and gave him this opportunity anyway.
