AI GeneratedThis episode of Sixers Digest covers the latest team updates, including player injuries, roster moves, and a debate regarding the team's expected performance and adaptation period as they approach the start of the regular season.
We've got multiple Sixers updates.
We've got to talk about medical situations.
We've got to talk about moves.
And then I want to debate with everything that is going on
and what's yet to go on.
We've got to get off to a slow start.
And if so, what's your patience, your tolerance
for how this thing all actually gets underway
with the season just about a week away?
What's going on, everybody?
Christian Pedersen back with another episode of Sixers Digest,
the show that is excited for the eventual return
of my boy, Adem Bona.
And if you are excited like that, too, or if you think
that he shouldn't be in the NBA or anything else Sixers wise,
if you want to go ahead and like, subscribe, comment, share,
follow all those other YouTube buttons, Sean and I got daily content
for you all season long, no matter how this thing goes.
Speaking of Adem Bona, he and Anthony Simons have both been ruled out
for the final preseason game I had discussed earlier this week,
and that's why I'm always saying subscribe,
because we've got tons of content for you,
but I discussed earlier that this, to me, the Adem Bona issue of him
not playing in the preseason doesn't really throw anything off too big.
i want him to focus on defense yeah he's going
to shoot some occasional shots but he is much more of
a rebounding functionary and the Anthony Simons one
though this is a little bit of a bummer and
to have his hamstring be this kind of uh we're going
to be cautious about it it's a little bit
more serious it just it feels like this is something
that may have some lingering effects
in the regular season and leaves me six out of ten on the worry scale
but nonetheless a little
bit worried at the very least if not about
his hamstring just about how it's going to slow down
the uh the rhythm and routine of this team kind
of finding their zen finding their vibes whatever
it is that you want to say speaking
of those vibes i'll remind everybody that even with the turmoil
of losing Adem Bona we are still
the third favorite team on Cal Sheet predicted to win
the NBA championships and thank you as always
to Cal Sheet for sponsoring this video and a reminder
Or if you want to use the Code Digest NBA when you are signing up, they
will hook you up with $55 when you trade your first $25 in options.
The other multiple moves,
Chris Carroll and Tay Fields both being signed to exhibit 10 contracts.
The corresponding moves to make that happen,
seeing the cutting and waving of St. Thomas and Duke Miles.
this to me given that our two new additions Chris Carroll
and Tay Fields are both 6-6 and under and
more guardsy type and not necessarily uh new
center additions i don't think that anybody no
offense to anybody involved in here i don't think
that anybody here is going to necessarily be
the filling out the 14th and 15th slots
on the regular season roster to start on opening day
that being said it is nonetheless to me going
to be interesting to see what kind of a shot they get
in this final preseason game
and then correspondingly we're going to keep an eye all
season long on the Blue Coats
and what they are capable of producing in terms of offensive output
rebounding defense just all the different metrics you know they
are they are an extension and
functionary of this team
and somebody i think a lot of you can dismiss it very easily as being
like oh like we've got so many superstars
and all that we've also got load management
we've got always going to be bumps
and bruises there's always going to be guys that just need
a breather and so we've got to we got to make sure
that we figure out that right guy to fill
the last of the two-way contracts
and this is part of that process all of that culminating though
into the question it kind of like i had said with Anthony Simons
and finding this team's rhythm and
routine and i saw this article about it's not panic
if the Sixers get off to a slow start and
it goes in a couple of directions of saying well
if you look at LeBron's previous stops and the
first year that he got to Miami the first year
that he got to LA the first year and
on his return to Cleveland
and uh after this many games they were all they you know it seems like
there's a consistent uh 20 to 35 game adaptation period
at the beginning and then after that
something clicks and tyloo gets hired
and that everything you know seems to mold together and
on some of it it's like well you might even have
to wait till that second year for it really to
come together and in looking at all
of that and in thinking about how we have had very limited time
with the whole gang together um on the court in the pre-season
and that yeah the season is long
and i think expectations are very lofty and high
but expectations are also that like you know a lot
of this is veteran presence
and they know how to make it all click together i was curious what are
what are your personal expectations out the gate
are obviously we're not going to be stoked if this
team goes 0 and 10 to start the season
and i picked the first 10 games just to make it um kind
of a round number of easy to digest
of talking about we got Knicks Cavs Bucks Pistons Pacers
Bulls Hornets Cavs a couple of a couple
of repeats pistons again um i would be really
curious to know how many of you in the comment section
are just like i'm assuming this is going
to fall into two camps one being pressures
on right away LeBron only has two years left we need
win win win win win given that the Knicks are still good
and that there's other teams kind of
rising in the east and the last thing we need
to do is lose out on home court advantage in the
playoffs because we didn't take the beginning
of this season very seriously there's also probably
going to be some of you the other end of the spectrum
that will say oh you know none of this
out the gate matters we don't need to go hard
and have people get injured or blow out and we're
going to have Embiid's going to be adjusting
to a new style of play we still got to figure out the
back like i can i take the middle ground in all
of that and say that i think that we need to go
seven and three out the first 10
and maybe 10 is just this kind of stupidly arbitrary number
i will give game one as a i'm okay with that loss
just given that MSG Knicks are getting their rings
defending their championship lebron
and the gang haven't played together a ton it's on the road
yeah like you know whatever like extenuating circumstances allow
for a little bit of wiggle
room past that i i just don't see like you know the Cavs
and pistons are both good basketball
teams that will do well in the east this year
that i think are you know a commensurate talent
if you want to say it given that they will probably win
a bunch of games and be in our
league for uh you know rankings but on that i i
don't want to lose a ton out the gate and make
excuses now do i need statement wins
and us dragging all these guys no but i need i need
if you know we're talking about two games against
the pistons i need the one at home to be
we're talking about two games against the Cavs
the one at home to be a win like we need this to
be a team that plays in the friendly confines picks up
those early season must wins and i said
seven and three out the first 10 15 and 5
and the first 20 maybe that's way too big expectations but
I'm also, I, I don't want to get 20, 30, 40, what I don't want
to get to any point in this season
where we're making just the perpetual excuse
of oh this is all gonna come together I want to
if we got to have a tough conversation about coaching changes
or philosophy changes or
whatever let's have it early let's have it 5, 15, 5
to 15 to 20 games in and get that change done
so that we can make the corresponding changes
and then give the new whatever look it is that
happens from those changes time to fit and fill
and that's kind of what I got we still got one
more pre-season game to get through before we get into the living
and dying on every single one of
these games but I'm curious what you think out
the gate let me know like subscribe comment share
follow all those other YouTube buttons until
next time go Sixers we'll talk to you guys soon
