With Brad Marchand looking like he'll be placed on LTIR, an insider has revealed a big move
that might be coming sooner than we all think. For a player that we're all too familiar with,
he helped us get to the Stanley Cup Finals in 23-24 and was a part of the Stanley Cup
Championship team that season. Yes, we're talking about Vladimir Tarasenko.
But first, we're going to be talking about something bigger.
The Cavs are starting to place players on waivers. We're going to get into who,
yesterday, was placed on waivers. In just a minute, this is Panther's Digest. I'm your host,
Greg Andrews. Comment, like, share, subscribe, hype up the video. I appreciate all of you tuning

Really, it doesn't take any time to do. So, let's dive right into this, guys. So,
the first round of cuts that have been had on Saturday. And we'll talk about the game.
There's not a whole lot to say, last night. Other than, it was a good game. The players played
great. They were going up against a much better, more talented Tampa Bay team. They still stuck
it out. Yes, they lost in the shootout. But hey, but first, before we get into that, Bjorn Foote,
Fitzgerald, Angus Cruikshank have been waived by the Florida Panthers. If they clear waivers,
obviously, they will be sent down to the AHL affiliate, Charlotte Checkers. But this is the
first wave. There's gonna be a hell of a lot more coming today, and even more probably coming
tomorrow. Our roster needs to be set. We don't even know if we're gonna have 23 players on it.
I would assume so, considering the fact that Brad Marchand looks like he'll be on LTIR on the same
thing for Gajovic, unfortunately. They'll be able to claim a decent portion of Marchand's salary.
Again, he's gotta miss 10 games in a minimum, and a minimum of 24 days. So in the whole month
of October, I believe there's 12 or 13 games. I'm not 100% on that, but it'll be the whole month.
So it'll be more than 24 days. They'll be able to claim a good portion of his five and a quarter
million dollar contract for the year, or AAV for the year. So that will help us be able to find
somebody to replace him. And that's where the whole Tarasenko conversation comes in here.
But we have a little bit of a, well, what the hell are we doing here? You're bringing up a guy,
putting him on the third line, he's been practicing with them all preseason,
and it is shocking that Tarasenko has not signed a contract yet at 34, 35 years old.
But still. So anyways, the game last night, I'm just gonna say, look, they played very well,
they stuck it out. Yeah, it stuck at the end where we let one get biased by Schmied, let one
go through him, but whatever. Hey, they had a very good preseason, this team is very deep.
I think a lot of guys that will be placed on waivers will probably be picked up, let's hope
not. So our AHL affiliate, Charlotte Checkers, will have them. And we could lean on some of those
guys, you know, for players that need rest or minor injuries, things like that, where players
might come out, we can bring guys up. So the whole bottom line is, game last night, everyone
looked good. I do still think it is Cole Reinhardt's spot to lose. Imama is still up there,
as well as Cole Schwindt. Those are the three guys still in the running. So let's take a look
at what is our lineup going to be looking like. Alright, this is pretty much what we're looking
at right now. Obviously, I didn't say who's on what line, we all know pretty much who they are.
It's gonna be Brady Kachuk, Barkov, Sam Reinhardt on line number two. It's gonna be Verhege,
Bennett, Mavick Kachuk on line number two. It's gonna be Lendell Lusterine and
Marchand, technically, but you see here, LTIR, Brad Marchand, Jonah Gajewicz will be on there.
The bubbles are gonna be Reinhardt, Imama, and Petrovic. The big question here is going to be,
why are we really looking at bringing in Tarasenko? I like him a lot. I still think
he's an elite sniper. He's got a great shot still. He racked up good points last season
with the Minnesota Wild. He was very solid for the Florida Panthers in 19 regular season games
and 24 playoff games. We're gonna look at his numbers in just a minute. I like him.
But we have Sandus Vilmanis on that third line and he has looked very good in the preseason.
I don't know if maybe what we're trying to do here is, you sign Tarasenko because they do
have mutual interest. This is really what we're looking at right now, coming from Elliott Friedman.
There is mutual interest here. That's a great sign. I like Tarasenko. I still think he's got
plenty left in the tank to make something happen this year. But if we're gonna say,
all right, we're gonna bring in Vilmanis to be on that third line. He's looked good. The
chemistry is building there. Maybe you do bring in Tarasenko, who's played on this team with
Lundell and Lustreinen as well, so he knows those two. He is a middle six player. Obviously,
he's not gonna be on the first line. He's not gonna be on the second line. It will be third
line or fourth line for him. Yet we're still looking at, okay, if this happens and we sign him,
what happens to Vilmanis? Does he go down to that fourth line and then we end up signing?
Because again, what we're thinking at here is making the team with the guys you have and you
gotta pay Cole Reinhart, contractually, AAV, cap space, all of that. These are all things that we
have to consider. So maybe this is a shot at saying, all right, look, we can sign a guy who's
got a hell of a lot of experience. He's got two Stanley Cups under his belt. We know he can still
play. He's solid defensively. He was great for us in the 23-24 season when we got him from,
I believe it was Ottawa, if I'm not mistaken. I'm trying to look that up right now,
but it would be very interesting to see if he comes in here, what's gonna actually happen
with Sanis Vilmanis. So I don't mind if he goes down to the fourth line. I do think he's earned
the right from the games that he played last year, how he's played their summer, how he's played in
the pre-season to potentially be on that fourth line. But I don't know. Cole Reinhart has been
stellar this pre-season. Let me know in the comments down below, what do you think should
happen if we do end up signing Tarasenko? Do you think we should even take a look at him and sign
Tarasenko? Or maybe they say, all right, Tarasenko, you're going to come on this team
with Brad Marchand coming back at the end of October, beginning of November.
Sanis Vilmanis will be on the third line. You're going to be on the fourth line.
And when he comes back, you're going to stick in the fourth line. Tarasenko,
Eller, and Hathaway all in the same line. That's a pretty good fourth line.
I hate to say it about Vilmanis that, okay, maybe he drops to that fourth line and Vladimir
Tarasenko goes up. I mean, it's hard to say. Let me know what you think in the comments down below.
So here's what we're looking at in terms of his numbers. We all know who he is. We know his size.
We know how old he is, how many games he's played. He's had a very solid career. Very
solid. 132 games played in the playoffs, 51 goals, 27 assists, 78 points. He's been great. Only 12
penalty minutes. He does not commit a lot of penalties. A very cerebral hockey player that's
out there. Very good on the four check. Again, elite shot. Great wrister. He can even still,
he's a better goal scorer than passer, but still, I know everything here in the career says, okay,
in the regular season, 327 goals, 382 assists, but he's a very good sniper. That's the reason
why I think we're really looking at him. Get a guy that can snipe on that third line, fourth line,
because if you do stick them on the line with Lundell and Lushirainen, I think that line just
gets a lot better, obviously, instead of having Vilmanis on it. But how much is the cost going to
be? Maybe you sign them just literally for the one-year deal. Maybe you give them a two-year
deal and say, yeah, we'll give you two years, but we're not going to give you more than a million
bucks per year, or just under a million bucks per year. I still think he's going to be somewhere
between that $1 million mark and maybe the 1.15, something weird like that for a couple of years,
but we'll see. I don't know. It might have to just be a one-year deal considering Marcian comes back
and we pick up his contract again. And if Gajevic does come back this year, we got that to worry
about. So here's numbers for the last few seasons, just so you guys can get an idea of how he has
played. He's been very good in the regular season. I've already said this, that with the Panthers in
the 19 games, as you can see here, you know, didn't have a ton of points, but he did well. Six
goals, 14 points in 19 games. We'll take that. Six and eight, any day of the week, we'll take it. Then
five goals, nine points in 24 playoff games. But the five goals is what I want to highlight.
That's pretty big for 24 playoff games. Contributing with five goals is stellar.
I like the idea of bringing him in 100%. Is he an upgrade from Vilmanis? Yes, because he's a
veteran. Is he a better shooter? Yes. The only thing that I believe Vilmanis does better is
defensively, he's a little more physical, that younger style of play I think fits, but I do
think Tarasenko was an upgrade. But guys, let me know what you think. Do you think the Cats really
should be like, yeah, you know what, if he's available, grab him. For the right price at AAV,
let's grab him. We're 880,000 or so over the cap right now, and we start cutting players,
moving guys around, placing Brad Marchand on LTIR, placing Gajevic in LTIR, that's going to
open up the cap space for us. We'll be able to sign him. But then who's going to be the next guy?
Who's going to be missing out? Will Cole Reinhardt be signed to the 23-man roster?
Will it be Petrovic as well? Are we going to have, like I said yesterday, he's going to be,
usually we have, I believe it was 14 forwards, 7 defensemen, and 2 goaltenders,
I think is usually what we do. Maybe they change it this year. Let me know in the comments down
below, let me know what you think guys, but I got to run. Have a great Sunday, enjoy the football,
and big game coming up on Tuesday, opening night, not going to miss that. Any news coming up,
I'll let you guys know, especially guys going on waivers, who clears, who's being picked up.
I'm sure we'll see Donovan Sobrango go, that's going to be kind of sad because I think he's
up and coming with his age, being so young, he's luring a bunch of new cats, but we'll see what
happens. Anyways, that's it. Comment down below on all this stuff. Talk to you guys later. Go Cats.
