Do The Sixers Have Beef Already...
Oct 8, 2026
Is there trouble in paradise already?
Is there accountability being held?
Or is the fake news media just after LeBron
to get their clicks in?
What's going on everybody, Christian Pedersen
back with another episode of Sixers Digest.
The show that needs to give you guys an apology
for the last couple of days has been running that fever
and it peaked yesterday at 102
and the combination of a lack of sleep
while trying to take care of a toddler and a fever
and a copious amount of NyQuil and Theraflu.
I left Trendon Warford in a thumbnail
and an intro to the videos.
So apologies for my lackluster coverage
the last couple of days while being sick.
Thank you for everyone sticking with me.
But as I always say, I'm bringing you daily content
no matter what.
So I hope if anything, this proves to you guys
that I'm here ride or die no matter how good or bad
this thing all goes.
And whether or not LeBron James and Joel Embiid
are beefing already.
And I wanna just, I wanna talk about this,
vent about this, get some reactions from you guys
about this because I think that maybe this is something
where there is no clear like this is all true
or this is all a lie, but could be maybe an example
of some of what is going to be happening this season
that could be a good plot line to take away
some potential upside for the Sixers on this one.
As always, before we get any further into the video,
gotta say a quick thank you to Kalshi
for sponsoring this video and remind everybody
that we are the third favorite team
to win the NBA championship.
And if you would like to get in on that market,
you are welcome to use the code DigestNBA
when you sign up for Kalshi and they will hook you up
with $55 when you trade your first $25 in options.
Okay, the quote that was said during the game
from none other than Mike Breen was that somebody told me
before the game that they were out ready to practice
and Joel Embiid walked out on the court
a couple minutes late and LeBron let him hear it.
Okay, let's go one step further to the rebuttal
before I get to it opinion-wise.
LeBron countered with, and I can hear my journalism
school professors rolling in their,
I don't wanna say rolling in their graves,
but rolling their eyes saying like you're going
to someone's Instagram for verifiable sources.
But LeBron on his source or on his Instagram
is the source saying Kap, he ain't been late,
so stop the lies.
Let me ask your initial, what do you guys make out of this?
Do you think that this is a complete nothing burger?
Is this a something burger?
This is where I think that, I don't believe
that LeBron has been ripping into anybody.
I don't think that Embiid, is there a chance
that Joel Embiid was 47 seconds late to a practice
or that LeBron James was two hours early
and said something out loud to the effect of,
hey Joel, where you been?
Or good to like just said a word
and that somebody who is a auxiliary, auxiliary,
extra tertiary person that was around them as media
or as a ball boy or as something said to Mike Breen,
something to try and get into Mike Breen's favor
and get some quotes on the air.
Yeah, I can totally believe that both of those things
existed at the same time.
Do I think that LeBron James ripped into Embiid
publicly facing him in the way that an anonymous source
could then go to Mike Breen and say something like that?
Absolutely not.
But do I think that there is a core thread here
that LeBron James is an incredibly hard worker
and somebody who is, he has said all along,
I didn't come to Philly to lose in the second round.
I didn't leave my family to lose in the second round.
And so yeah, I do think that there is a chance
that LeBron James is an incredibly hard working individual
who did show up, who probably shows up early
to every practice as was evidenced by,
I drew this quote from a different article here,
but saying that Vijay Edgecombe had told reporters
last week that James was the first person
into the locker room of the team's training facility,
saying he was there before everybody as usual.
He dapped me up, yeah, I go, yo, what's up?
Like we know each other for a minute.
I think that this speaks to exactly the point
of just LeBron, even at his age,
is going to be the hardest working person on this team.
LeBron is the most competitive person on this team,
probably is going to be the hardest,
probably is going to be the most competitive.
I shouldn't say any of this with definition
given that I'm not actually in any of these rooms,
but it makes me wonder if,
I don't know the entirely right way to say this,
but if some of this isn't okay to happen,
like if Embiid was two minutes late,
is it that bad to actually say that Embiid got,
you know, ripped a new a-hole
by one of the greatest players of all time?
If VJ, if Maxi, is there somebody
who is too big of a superstar to be held accountable
to any degree on this team?
Because I kind of don't think there is.
Now if it was, if the quote came out
that Dean Wade goes ballistic on Embiid for something,
you could be like, okay, what are we doing here, homie?
Like, understand your role in all this.
And if it was Nick Nurse loses his cool on it,
I could be like, you know, I get it, you're the coach,
but that's a kind of a way to lose
the locker room dynamic potentially a little bit.
But if it's player on player and within the hierarchy
of player on player accountability,
one element of that equation is the literal goat
and somebody who is the elder statesman
of basketball success and ethics and ethos.
You kind of got to defer to him as being like,
yo, if he's here first,
if he's working harder than any of us,
if he's putting in all of this effort,
you got to accept that at the same time,
like what he says goes, and if he says work harder,
if he says get here earlier,
if he's here, if LeBron James is here to hold players
a tad bit more accountable and has the cart launch
to hold everybody a tad bit more accountable,
I think that's good for the Sixers.
And if that proves to weed out some of the chaff
and have some of the players not be ready
for the moment right away, hopefully in the short term,
okay, a little turmoil, but that makes everybody
actually get there earlier, work harder,
be more accountable, be more ready for the moment
to rise to the occasion, to be their best selves.
So do I think that Mike Breen is blowing smoke
and taking things way out of proportion
and probably capping?
Hell yeah, I do.
He's a broadcaster.
What else is he going to talk about?
The weather?
I mean, they got to fill the time with something
and mediocre, lukewarm stories
don't drive headlines and clicks.
But do I think that this is hopefully an example
of if this is true, that LeBron is not scared
to hold anybody and everybody on this team accountable?
Heck yeah, I'm absolutely here for that.
So that's what I got for you today.
Thank you, like I said, for sticking with me
through the, brain's not still back to 100%.
You get what I'm trying to say.
