BREAKING: Major Wild Injury Update... This Has SERIOUS Implications
1 Video View·Sep 30, 2026
We have breaking news as the Minnesota Wilds have just announced a brutal update to Brock
Faber.
With the ongoing injury he has had over the past couple of weeks, we have gotten the worst
news possible.
We're going to be breaking it down, going over what this means for the Minnesota Wilds,
Quinn Hughes, and this entire start of the season, as this is something we are going
to be looking at for a long, long time.
Folks, we have a lot to break down here in today's video.
Before we do get into it, if you haven't already, be sure to drop a sub here on the
channel.
We're back, getting videos out every single day.

subscribe button.
I also want to say a quick thank you for your patience over the past week or so.
I had a few things that I kind of came off.
Couldn't get onto the update for the Minnesota Wilds, but we're back, and I want to get straight
into it here with this update from Michael Russo, which is a big one.
Wild top-pairing defenseman Brock Baber sustained a fractured skull and underwent surgery.
No timetable yet, Bill Guerin said.
This is just crazy, because if we go back to when he took that slap shot too close to
the ear, he stayed in the game for a couple of shoots.
You know, a situation that I don't think anybody really thought would have gotten to this point,
it has gotten to the worst possible news, and Brock Baber now being out is going to
be a major change for this Minnesota Wilds defense, especially for someone who, on the
top-pairing with Quinn Hughes, knowing the situation that Quinn Hughes is in where he
wants to steal the Wilds' play to start the season, now his top-pairing with Brock Baber
is out.
There's a lot to consider here.
Because of Brock Baber being your first-line defenseman, 25 minutes time on ice per game
last season, you're going to need people to step up.
Whether that is Jarrad Spurs moving up to the first line, Ole Mata moving to the right
side, we know that David Spocek has officially made the team, and I think that the Wilds
knew to this point that Brock Baber was going to land on the I.L. for some sort of time.
I don't think anybody expected it to get to this point, but Bill Guerin spoke out quite
a bit on Brock Baber, and he said this to start off, he just had a serious surgery,
and this was asked on the timeline for this, and an injury, so we're going to, you know,
we're going to let you guys know when the time is right, but he's doing well, he's doing
really well, which is good news, and we'll follow the doctor's lead.
So at this point right now, it doesn't seem like there is much information at all coming
out from this apart from what we know.
There is no timeline just yet.
Obviously a fractured skull, not something that will be easy to recover from with a normal
job, let alone a very physical sport in, you know, a game of hockey at the highest possible
level, although we have seen some very similar things to this over the past couple of seasons.
Now, not necessarily a fractured skull in this terms, but if we go back to Charlie McAvoy
taking a slap shot to the face last season, when you look at the timeline he had, he missed
a month, missed 11 games, he had surgery on his jaw right here, couldn't eat, that was
a big thing in his game that he lost a lot of weight because he could only have liquids,
and hopefully this is not going to be the case for Brock Baber, you know, we don't really
necessarily know where on the skull it was fractured, and we can assume it's, you know,
back here on the side or whatnot, maybe, you know, upper jaw, hopefully not too close behind
the eye, but this is really the closest thing we have to an example of this, giving us,
you know, a pretty good idea as to how long he will be out on a minimum, and, you know,
a lot of people thinking hopefully he's back before Christmas, hopefully this is not going
to affect Quinn Hughes' decision, and I don't think it will, obviously there's nothing he
can do about it, the way that we've seen Bill Guerin talk about Brock Baber in this case
is the best possible way, you know, you see it, he's a great player, he's a big player for us,
it's always going to affect your team when you guys like that are out, the biggest thing here
is he's doing well, and sometimes you have to put hockey aside and worry about a human being,
and it kind of goes to mention his family, his girlfriend, you know, everybody that outside of
hockey care about him as much as we do as the players, so, you know, this is not something
that where you can just throw him into the mix, throw him in here and get him going once again,
that's just not the case, this is too big of a thing to just let this aside, and for, you know,
the reason that he stayed in the game, this is what we saw from Bill Guerin, and this has been
mentioned by Joe Smith, put this out on Twitter a few moments ago, when asked why Brock Baber
was able to stay in the game and finish the second period on Friday, Bill Guerin said he
seemed okay, and as things progressed, obviously he was taken out, he'll follow the doctor's lead,
the fractured skull, and I mean, I'm still kind of at a loss for words behind this, because
this is a kind of a pretty scary injury, and, you know, obviously we wish Brock Baber the best,
would have been, you know, watching him play in November, and now not going to be able to see him,
certainly sucks as well, so, you know, you get that from a fan aspect, but you also get it from,
you know, the personal aspect, that dealing with this is not going to be something that's very easy,
so, given that, with what the Wilds have to do now, there's a big change of plans, because if we
go ahead and look right here at Brock Baber from last season, we pull him up in the bigger details,
you'll get the time on ice, just under 25 minutes a game, and that's not easy to replace, you know,
you have Jared Spurs, who's likely going to jump into that role, and, you know, do what he can
there, but he's not going to be replacing Brock Baber for the 80 games that he did play, for the
games that he played in the playoffs, and that's not going to happen to start the season, and
obviously, it does seem like, at least right now, Brock Baber will be returning this season, you know,
I don't think that he'll miss the entire year, whether he wears a cage or something along the
lines of that, I still don't think that necessarily has an impact on this, because it's, you know,
not, it's not necessarily a space, more so than a skull, but he's going to be very, very difficult
to replace, and it's going to be something to keep an eye on, as if the Wilds do go ahead and kind of
make some other move on the defense, and that's one thing I got to say we're pretty lucky with,
that I do not think they're going to do so, because of a deep roster that they have, and once again,
David Spocek being called up, Carson Lambos being assigned to Iowa to start the season, but he's an
option as well, if we go ahead and look at the depth chart right now, once again, Jared Spurs is
likely going to jump in on that first line, that first pairing, Zach Bogosian will likely stay on
the third, we've seen Ovi Mata on, you know, the recent practice lines, but the second line pair with
Jonas Brodine, and David Spocek jump in on line three, or on pairing three with Zach Bogosian,
and I kind of do like that, you know, get the kid some experience with a very good veteran, and
Zach Bogosian, he's a player that, you know, so far in his career, not too many games, but certainly
going to be able to get accustomed to this game quick, and he's not alone, that's the biggest thing,
so, you know, although Brock Faber will be missing for quite some bit, Quinn Hughes is capable of
carrying a line, I mean, we look at what he did with Vancouver, he didn't have a Brock Faber on his
line, so this may change Quinn Hughes's game just a little bit, but, you know, I think that at the end
of the day, Brock Faber being out is a huge loss, but it is something that you want to have him out
now, rather than when it comes to the playoffs, so, folks, give me your thoughts on this, I just want to
say this one, you know, very quickly here as well, I'm not going to dive too deep into it, I don't think
this is going to affect Quinn Hughes at all, obviously, he said he wants to wait, he's in no rush
to sign an extension, he wants to probably see how the team starts to play, and, you know, obviously,
he knows that he's not going to be playing with Brock Faber just yet, he said he loves playing with
them, and that's going to get back to it eventually, and just not right now, so, I wouldn't look too
much into the Quinn Hughes side of things on this, except for the fact that he's going to have to take
a big step up on defense, like he does in every single game, so, folks, give me your thoughts on
this, we have another video coming out with the official roster that the Wilds have announced now,
with Brock Faber heading to the IL, David Spock checkup, and that means one man on offense is
getting his NHL debut, we're going to be touching on all that tomorrow, so be sure to stick around,
and hit that subscribe button if you haven't already, but that's all I got in this one, if you did enjoy,
give it a like, hit the sub button as well, I'm signing out, thank you for watching, hope you have a great day, see you later.
