Hey, we've talked a lot about these Dolphins.
Let's see what the head coach thinks.
We find out each week in the coach's
scouting report brought to you by Carhartt.
All right, coach, here we go.
You guys have won three in a row, building some momentum here.
I imagine part of your job as the coach
is to try to keep them moving in that direction.
What's the message to guys to keep building?
Well, I think it is just about, you know,
we've improved really every week.
Different ways, but we have improved, and that's been it.
You win three games in a row, we've got two on the division.
We've got to continue to improve.
And really, I think a lot of this,
we got to emotionally get back into this, you know.
Listen, let's call it what it is.
What happened to Jack, that's hard.
And so we need to rally back up and get back to business
because that's what Jack would want.
Absolutely. All right. Let's talk about this Dolphins team. Obviously,
they've had some changes in personnel over the past couple of years.
Malik Willis getting his shot as a starting quarterback.
We're going to see him here throwing to Malik Washington,
who's been his favorite target so far.
Yeah, doing a good job.
You know, what they run out here, it's
a really good scheme, and it's versatile.
You see, this is a spread scheme, but they've got enough two-back,
wing T, like pistol, things of this different nature.
But, you know, this guy's got a pretty quick release,
and that's been his go-to here.
This is a savvy, you know, versatile.
Personal, really slot receiver, can do a lot of things,
and then you see him break this tackle here, and he can go.
So he's a pretty dangerous player.
And like some of the other quarterbacks we've seen,
Willis, you've got to be careful.
He'll tuck it and go.
Yes, he will. And I'll tell you where he's really grown
to me is he will and he's still a dangerous runner.
But when he runs, he keeps his eyes downfield.
If it's not there, he'll run.
Otherwise, he'll hit you on an explosive pass down the field.
He's really improved there.
All right. Ollie Gordon has become their number one running back.
6'2", 225, four and a half yards a carry. This guy runs hard.
So we're getting ready for Minnesota the week prior, you know,
and you're watching this crossover tape preparing for this defense,
Minnesota's defense. And you watch this guy run downhill.
Here it is.
And you're like, whoa, he gets a lane.
He's a heavy runner and he's got really this,
he gains speed as he goes, you know, this
kind of long strider, heavy.
The, um...
Back, and so, man, the most important thing,
we cannot give him a crease.
You cannot let him have a crease into the line of scrimmage
because if he's got any momentum,
he can hurt you and puncture your defense.
All right, last guy I want to talk about, Zach Seeler.
I think he's a great story.
Ferris State, he's from Pinckney.
This is a guy who fought.
for everything he's got in this league,
and he's carved out a really nice role for himself.
Yeah, you've got to respect guys like him.
He's a self-made man, to your point, Dan.
He just does all the little things right,
and he's done nothing but improve.
He's very smart, very instinctive, very aware,
and he plays freaking tough and hard,
and his whole career's been this way.
And so he just, man, he's a cerebral player
that's got a high motor,
and he makes plays all over the field.
He's an excellent player.
Yeah, I don't think that guard is...
Yeah, that guard's going to enjoy that tape when he sees that, right?
No, no, he's not.
Those are hard to watch.
Believe it or not, that happens to everybody.
But this guy's done it to a lot of people, too, now.
He's not the only one.
Hey, look, road trip.
Dolphins have struggled.
The record tells us that.
But this kind of gets back to one thing that you talk about a lot.
It's about you guys.
You go in there, play your game, play clean.
You're going to probably be in pretty good shape.
You go in there, make mistakes,
give them a reason to think it could be their day.
It could be different.
Well, that's exactly right.
I mean, they played New England last week.
New England ends up fumbling the ball.
You know, Rodriguez punches it out, which he does, rookie linebacker.
And now all of a sudden they're sitting
there in really good field position
and you're in a dogfight.
And we cannot do those things ourselves.
We have to play better than we played last week.
That's really it.
And we've got to continue to improve.
And if we do that, we'll be okay.
But this is a hungry team.
This is very much 2021 Detroit Lions is what this is.
They're hungry.
All right, there it is, the Coach's Scottie Report.
Let's get back to that trade deadline
we mentioned a couple of minutes ago.
What are you watching for at this point?
We've already seen some big swings in the NFL.
We might see some more.
I think we will see some more because there are some bad teams
and some teams looking to unload.
The Colts have already started unloading, guys.
This team here in Miami might do some of that.
But.
But, yeah, for the Lions, I mean, we know they were in on Joey Porter.
They admitted they were in on Joey Porter at cornerback.
I would think that's still at the top of their list.
Cornerback, we'll see about the linebacker.
Obviously, they've made some moves.
This week already, but I do think we'll see
a movement may not be the significant.
Headline grabbing one that fans may necessarily want,
but I do think cornerback is the spot.
Tuesday's the deadline.
When you're a player, how are you watching this thing?
Are you trying to see if your team improves
and make sure nobody takes your job?
Stop!
Without a doubt.
You are watching it, and you're right.
As a player in that locker room,
you're interested in what the team does
and what direction they're trying to go in.
That's pretty good.
It's like when you're in your career low
and you see your team draft a left tackle.
Tackle.
That didn't happen to the big man, that didn't happen to the big man.
Hey, we'll take a break, we'll come
right back, we're glad you're with us,
we're getting you ready for the Lions and the Dolphins.
