Store recovering after car plows into business

Two at five, the owners of a long-standing business in Palmetto are feeling fortunate that no one was hurt after a car plowed through the front of their store where the vehicle had just been involved in a three-car accident out front. FOX 13's Aaron Mesmer spoke with the owners about what's next for them. The owner of the store in Palmetto says a car crashed so hard into the front of the building that it caused part of the ceiling to partially collapse. The owners of Botas Tres Hermanas shared security video from inside their store showing the impact when a car slammed into the front of the business. This happened at a little before three o'clock Thursday afternoon. Three vehicles were involved in an accident along 8th Avenue West and one of them careened into the business. The family that owns Botas feels fortunate no one was standing near the entrance. When the crash happened, well, my nephew said he saw it said he saw it and he said he saw the car coming and then when he blinked the car was already inside the building. Well, I was just really grateful that no one got hurt. My daughter loves to hang around around the door. And so I'm pretty lucky that no one got hurt. We're told the store has been here for about 30 years. It took all day Thursday, but the owners were able to board up the windows and straighten out the broken doors so they could reopen Friday. And the owners know that it's going to take some time to make these repairs, but they want the community to know that they're going to be open through that process. In Palmetto, Aaron Mesmer, Fox 13 News.
