Better bite on calmer waters

We've got to do the good catch fishing report
with Captain Dylan Hubbard.
He's from Hubbard's Marina, but this morning he's in Wyoming.
Oh, wait, wait, wait.
He's in Wyoming.
He's in Wyoming.
Are you fly fishing?
Are you fly fishing?
Absolutely not.
No, there's certain lines you don't cross,
and fly fishing is one of them for me.
But it's a lot of fun.
I love fly fishing.
It's cool, but I'm not that good.
That takes a little level of finesse I don't have, Dave.
Dave.
Wow, he admitted something he couldn't do.
Maybe I could beat him at fly fishing.
But you said it's hard.
It is hard.
It is a lot of work.
I did it in Colorado a couple of summers ago.
And I'll stick to my regular spin
caster, you know, kind of thing.
So, okay, you guys go ahead.
How you doing, Dylan?
You good?
Everything good?
I'm fine.
I am doing so well.
It's been a nice week with the family chasing around all
the wildlife here in Grand Teton National Park.
And I have to say, this weather report
that Dave just gave just made my whole weekend, finally,
some nice weather and some nice opportunities to get out there.
And hopefully, the rest of this winter, we can have cold fronts like
this weekend, where it's just moderate chops.
And we get a little bit of a less humidity, and we still get
that barometer moving, but we don't have that crazy high wind.
So definitely exciting things going on.
On inshore this week, Russell, we've seen a huge push of those trout.
The trout bite has been really good around three,
four foot of water right over the grass.
We've been seeing the trout really pick up
as that water temperature continues to dip down.
We've seen very active redfish action around the area.
Still some pretty good groups of fish moving around
if you're lucky enough to find them.
Looking for those birds, those bait, the big schools of mullet.
You'll be able to find some of those redfish.
Also, the snook have been super active in the back and upper
Bay areas.
We're seeing more of those snook action really pushing
into the rivers, creeks, bayous.
We've been seeing the flounder action really steady around the area.
Pompano started to pick up a little bit in some spotty areas,
which is exciting, and
tons of mackerel around the inshore waters.
Any of those deep, fast-moving areas where
bait's present have been very, very active
with lots of concentrations of the mackerel.
So that's about it on the inshore side of things, Russell.
All right.
Well, I guess you're getting reports from back home in Wyoming.
What's happening near shore and offshore?
Always staying connected. That's for sure.
And looking forward to this weekend and getting out
there on the water. We have a super light load on that 39 hour trip.
And we finally have some
nice weather to get out deep
and stretch our legs into that deeper water. Near shore lately,
just yesterday, the 10 hour trip went out there
and crushed the red grouper right around 70,
80, 90 foot of water. We've been finding
those hogfish starting to pick up lots of the mackerel
around the beaches. We're catching mackerel on a lot of our trips,
trolling on the way out and
trolling on the way back. A lot
A lot of our nearshore reefs
and wrecks holding tons of bait and lots of mackerel.
Kingfish starting to trickle in here and there,
and we're definitely excited about the uptick
in the hogfish action and red grouper, lane snapper, mangroves too.
But offshore this past weekend,
it finally calmed down enough to get that 39-hour trip
out there, and they crushed the mangrove snapper,
big fat red grouper, nice scamp, trigger fish.
And this time of year, there's a lot less people out there,
so a lot more room to move
And the fishing is just spot on.
It's spectacular this time of year.
In between these fronts like
this week where we have a beautiful weather window,
those fish are going to take advantage
of the weather just like hopefully you get a chance to
and you get out there on the water because don't forget, Russell.
What's that, Dylan, in Wyoming?
If you're too busy to go fishing, you're just too darn busy.
So even if you're out of state, you can still
chase around those trouts in the river.
All right, well, listen, let's stop working now
and go back to enjoying your vacation.
And we appreciate you taking time to do that for us this morning.
I appreciate you guys. We'll see you soon. See you soon. Bye bye.
