Also learning more tonight about the victim, 41-year-old Leanne Selman.
She worked at Citibank for over nine years.
She was a Palm Harbor High School graduate, and she grew up there.
FOX 13's Blake Devine is live at the Citibank Center there in Brandon.
So, Blake, what have you learned about
the circumstances surrounding her death?
Ali and Mark, Leanne Selman, had no connection to this killer.
Tragically, she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Tonight, I did talk to her parents who,
understandably, are not ready at this moment to speak.
On camera, however, they did describe the moments in which they
found out of their daughter's death on Wednesday afternoon.
They learned about the shooting here at the Citibank Center
while watching the news.
Both parents tried calling Selman several times as she never picked up.
They then traveled to her condo in Tampa to fetch her dog.
Although it wasn't until Wednesday night that the Hillsborough
County Sheriff's deputy showed up on their doorstep
with the heartbreaking news that no parent ever hopes to hear.
And during a news conference today with Sheriff Chad Chronister,
a Citibank executive described how her co-workers are remembering her.
She was valued. She was beloved. She was described as a bright light
and her colleagues and all of us are grieving her.
Leanne was a USF graduate who spent nine years working at Citibank,
most recently as a learning advisor.
She was also an accomplished dancer and has a younger sister who
also lives in the Tampa Bay region. Tonight there's been an outpouring
of support on social media from both friends and colleagues.
We've also learned that Citibank has put
in place plans for a memorial to honor Leanne's life.
Blake, I went to Palm Harbor University High School.
I did not know Leanne personally,
but I was acquaintances with her sister.
And I posted on Facebook, if anybody wanted to share comments,
and overwhelmingly people
talking about just how thoughtful, fun,
and hardworking she was, just sending their thoughts
and prayers to the family.
As you mentioned, her little sister,
they were only about 17 months apart, so extremely
close.
And just, the community is grieving,
so we just need to wrap our arms around her family for sure.
Did you hear, Blake, is the Citibank campus,
is it going to remain closed, or what's the plan there?
Well, Ali, as we know, the on-site investigation
for Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies,
that has wrapped up at this point in time.
Citibank told all 5,000 employees
who work here on-site remotely or hybrid
to take the day off after this terrible tragedy.
Right now, they are telling all their staff
to work remotely for the time being,
and they're not going to pressure anyone to return to the place
where this terrible event took place for the foreseeable future.
Okay, Blake Devine live for us there
at the campus in Brandon. Blake, thank you.
