7-10, it's already shaping up
to be another tumultuous day on Wall Street
after a massive sell-off yesterday.
And some are saying it's all in response
to the midterm election results.
A lot of concern in the technology industry sector there.
I want to get to Doug Luzader in Washington with more for us.
Doug, good morning.
Good morning, guys.
The markets and the political climate here
in Washington are in for some big changes
as the impacts from Tuesday really begin to sink in.
Wall Street wasn't saved by the bell yesterday,
a huge sell-off led by uncertainty over tech stocks,
fueled by a number of winning candidates from Tuesday's elections
that had railed against AI data centers.
If the rhetoric becomes reality to the extreme,
it won't just be read on the screen.
We will be talking about economic recession early next year.
The issue is finding a balance on the government's approach to AI.
Just one of many thorny issues for the White House now.
Democratic leaders will start to call
for heads following the elections.
And first up may be Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth,
long a target for Democrats.
And Republican Thomas Massie, a Trump critic,
introduced a measure to remove him.
Everyone will make their own interpretation
of what it meant in terms of Hegseth.
Didn't work against President Trump.
And it won't work with me.
Hegseth is defiant and his boss still publicly backs him.
But changes across the board could be coming for the president.
In this new era of Washington, he's going to have to lean on compromise
and I think really adjust to some limits to his authority.
And the president has said he is open to working with Democrats,
but in the Oval Office yesterday,
a red veto hat was sitting on his desk.
Thomas and Alex.
It's going to be a very different road ahead.
We shall see.
Buckle up, as they say.
Doug, thank you.
All right.
Have a good weekend, Doug.
