Republican finger pointing going on over who
or what is to blame for the Democrats dominating
the midterm elections and gaining control of Congress.
So who's going to take the fall for this, Robert Moses?
What do we know this morning?
Yeah, Rosanna and Tashani,
we know the Democrats will control at least 253 House seats in the
next Congress.
They flipped more than 40 House seats Tuesday,
including one representing much of the lower
Hudson Valley.
Last night, the Associated Press declared Kate Connolly
the winner in New York's 17th district
over the incumbent Republican Congressman Mike Lawler.
Now, even though Lawler conceded this race Tuesday,
the AP did not immediately call it,
but now the agency has called the race,
so put another House seat into the Democratic column.
Some races, though, are still too close to call.
Case in point, Mississippi.
Where Democrat Scott Colome has lengthened
his lead a bit to a little more than 1,800 votes
over the incumbent Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.
Remember, Mississippi, deep red.
So if this were to flip to Democrats, it would be quite a story.
And in Alaska, Democrat Mary Peltola remains up
by a little more than 600 votes
over the incumbent Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan.
I mention the middle initial
because this race featured two Dan Sullivans.
Many Republicans, including Vice President J.D. Vance,
along with President Donald Trump,
blamed Tuesday's wipeout on the Iran war.
And there is speculation that the man overseeing it,
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, could lose his job.
Outgoing Republican Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky,
who lost his primary this spring,
says he plans to introduce a resolution to impeach Hegseth after
the lame duck Congress reconvenes on Monday.
Hegseth defended himself.
In a defiant five-plus-minute video posted
on the Defense Department's Official X account.
A disgruntled, defeated congressman,
along with all his Democrat allies,
has also dropped sham articles of impeachment against yours truly.
Just like they tried against President Trump twice.
It's all about the politics of personal destruction.
Didn't work against President Trump, and it won't work with me.
You can rest assured of that.
Earlier this week,
a reporter asked President Trump if he plans to replace Hegseth.
No, I think he's doing a very good job.
I think he's doing a very good job.
Massie says the only way he will not introduce
his impeachment resolution in Congress is if Hegseth resigns.
Tashani, Rosanna.
All right. Thank you, Robert.
