AI GeneratedThis report covers the Pennsylvania Conference for Women, an empowering event attended by 9,000 people. Featuring high-profile speakers like Mindy Kaling, Lindsey Vonn, and Kylie Kelsey, the conference focused on themes of resilience, self-confidence, and the importance of taking initiative in one's career and personal life without waiting for external permission.
All right. How about these powerhouse names?
Kylie Kelsey, Lindsay Vaughn, and Mindy Kaling.
They are all at this amazing conference that happens every year.
It is the Pennsylvania
Conference for Women. And Tracy Schmidt,
one of our Good Day producers, is there. Good afternoon.
Hi, Jen. How are you?
I'm good. All right. Who have you seen so far?
So the main speakers just wrapped up.
So Mindy was the last one. Really interesting. It was
Elaine Weltsworth is the one who did the interview for her.
She basically talked about having three
children on her own time, on her own timeline.
And she told people in the audience, don't wait
for permission. Because if she would have waited,
she never would have gotten into half the room
she was in. And she knew that if she wanted to be successful,
she would just have to make her own
show and not apologize.
And then she talked about when she became a mother on her own about
how she felt it was so important to be a mentor to others.
So I can flip my camera and show
you a little bit about what it looks like here. Cool. Did that work?
I think so.
Did you hear Lindsay Vaughn speak?
A little bit, I heard part of her because we
were with time for the uncut. She talked
about how she had her ninth surgery after everything
that happened with the Olympics
and about how of course she had to keep fighting
and keep going on because that's the only thing
she knows how to do. And that's what she's trained to do.
And she was inspirational in that way.
We also had Tayari Jones come over and talk to us about her book.
She's a best selling author.
And Kylie Kelsey was the first one
in the morning to kick things off. Of course,
talked about her family,
but also talked about giving herself permission that sometimes you
can't get everything done in a day.
So it's okay to do what you can do and wait to do the rest of
the thing. So I'll just show you a little bit this way.
We still have many people here, 9,000,
they said is the crowd. They had to actually cap off tickets.
There's different vendors, a lot local.
So you might see someone, Good Day Philadelphia.
And then they also have breakout sessions
where people could ask questions about career.
There's a place where you could take photos for future resumes.
There's information about that,
small business hub and food, drinks.
But it's a good chance for people to actually get together.
You can see people off
to the side actually trading business cards with each other.
So it's interesting in that way too, to just be a part of it.
We can't help but be inspired.
I was gonna say, it's great to get like permission to feel vulnerable.
I was about to say that. Basically, and that's kind of what they
said is that you know you can only wait so long.
You kind of have to take your own chances.
In this life and to make the most of what you have
because nobody's gonna come up and
tell you what's your turn. You have to basically take it
and believe in yourself. That was
one of Mindy's main messages was you have
to have the confidence that if you don't have
it, you kind of have to fake it and push forwards.
That's amazing.
And you think about the fact
that these women couldn't have more different careers.
You know, Kylie Kelsey, obviously a Havertown favorite,
you know, still is a field hockey
coach at Lower Merion High School, but her life has literally exploded.
And Lindsey Vonn, you know, an Olympic skier,
her knee literally exploded.
And Mindy Kaling, just it's great that all these women,
they have one thing in common,
and that is grace.
And you know, it's okay to fail sometimes,
but also giving us encouragement.
It's okay to write your own story. Maybe what you thought it was,
it didn't turn out that way, but it could be better.
So just keep on pushing. That was the
main message. Mainly every speaker said, just don't give up.
The time's not over yet. You still
have time. Okay. I love it. Tracy, I'm glad you're out there.
I'm sure you're able to get
some good guests for a good day in the future. We're working on it.
Thanks, Jen.
